I think this may be my strategy for all Hasbro buying this year.

Re: Star Wars Black 6 inch General Discussion
That’s very frustrating. I do most of my shopping online via preorders. It takes most of the stress out of this hobby.
The only annoying Star Wars shopping experiences I’ve had in years were the blink and you miss Walmart orders. Sounds like that is going to be the regular situation now.

Re: Star Wars Black 6 inch General Discussion
I have just realised that Hasbro has gotten the helmet wrong on the Commander Jesse figure.
Jesse was made an ARC Trooper late in the clone wars, so wears Phase II clone armour. The figure is obviously re-use of the Arc Trooper Echo figure, but that is actually Phase I armour.
(Phase I ARC Troopers got the new visor style before the regular clones, but their helmets have a ridgeline similar to the original Phase I pointed ridgeline over the top of the helmet.)
Thankfully, it probably won't be too hard to grab a plain white helmet when they finally do a plain white Phase II clone and repaint it to be an accurate rendition of Jesse's Phase II ARC Trooper helmet.

Yeah, that was a fun episode. Trandoshan soldiers would be cool, too.Super Camel wrote:Did anyone watch the new episode of The Bad Batch, and see Wookies riding around on big ass Kashyyk Battle Cats?? I was like " I need toys, stat!"

THis was always a relief. Hey, stuff is going up tomorrow at 1pm! Great, I can make myself available. Get everything ordered then go about my day. Easy and chill. I've never ordered from multiple stores on the same item(s) though. Is that part of the issue for dropping preorders?

Re: Star Wars Black 6 inch General Discussion
Count me in among the folks who liked pre-orders. Being able to order something and be more or less guaranteed that I was going to get the item, even if it was a little later than some other places, was really nice. Living where I live, there have been many times where I just never see a certain figure on the pegs, or when I do, it's pretty overpriced. Now, having to keep an eye on product pages for when they're up or live, hoping that I get to it on time and have the funds, sounds like a bit of a hassle.
It was mostly the window of time between pre-order and shipping that I had issue with. Give or take a year on some things just seemed a bit excessive. Especially compared to companies like McFarlane, which generally put up a pre-order fairly close to the shipping date of the item. Granted, most of the places I've ever ordered from gave at least a few days notice before the items were due in stock, so I've never really had an issue with making sure funds were available on time (I know I'm just one case of many, so I digress). Don't get me wrong- I'm glad that Hasbro is listening to fans and trying something new to appease them, I just don't know if this is necessarily the right solution. A smaller window of time between pre-order and shipping seems like the better solution to me, with perhaps a week or so warning before the items are due in (if possible- I know things change all the time).

Re: Star Wars Black 6 inch General Discussion
I really like pre orders too, but I did have to really learn a new strategy on how to go about pre ordering once COVID came around. I used to just pre order all of what I wanted from a Wave of Hasbro products, be it Star Wars, Marvel, GI Joe, or whatever. And they would give an estimated release date, and it would come in on the estimated month, or maybe the following month.
During and throughout COVID, I kept just pre ordering everything I wanted, but the estimated dates were just COMPLETELY wrong. Hasbro would say the next Black Series set would be shipping in August, but instead it would ship months earlier in April when you weren't expecting it. And it would get to the point where this would happen with multiple Hasbro lines, and you'd have entire Waves of Star Wars Black Series, Marvel Legends, GI Joe Classifieds, and Transformers all shipping in the same month. Costing literally hundreds and hundreds of dollars.
And that was just Hasbro! If you also had pre orders from other companies (and I always did), you could owe some serious cash in a month. The ETA's just got wildly unreliable. And I understand why, with all the shipping issues, cost increases, and how hard it was to get some resources, how could you give an accurate ETA.
And Hasbro during this time, besides their unreliable ETA's you couldn't trust and budget for, they just kept pumping out pre orders. And for Star Wars, between Black Series and TVC, and all the basics and exclusives, there were like a hundred open pre orders for various Star Wars products existing at once.
It was all just too much. So, I had to change how and what I pre ordered.
But I never hated the option to pre order. I loved that. I just hated all the stuff piling in at once causing you to spend a ton of money in a months time. And it felt like it happened over and over.
So, I eventually only pre ordered the items I thought would sell out quicker online, or on retail shelves. Because let's be honest, you can get most if not ALL Hasbro items on Pulse, BBTS, and EE months after they come in stock. So, there is no reason to just pre order it all at once if you don't want to risk stuff all piling in on you out of nowhere.
Like right now for Star Wars Black Series, I have all the Jedi and Sith pre ordered. Thats it. I'll get everything else slowly at my leisure. But those are the characters I want most, and they do tend to sell well and disappear a bit quicker online or in stores. Still, they are never hard to get for quite some time.
I do the same with Marvel too. So, I was sick of all the outstanding pre orders, and I was sick of all the pre orders arriving and being charged at once. But that certainly didn't mean I wanted pre orders to go.
But still, pre orders or not, as long as everything stays pretty easy to obtain, no big deal.

Saw a stack of RotJ Boba Fetts at my local Target yesterday and they were priced at 38.49. I know you can buy online for 33 which is already too high for a rerelease. Hasbro really needs to figure this craziness out or the line is going to die.

Always price match if a Target store is pulling that crap! Even if it's out of stock online, use the Target app to scan the barcode and it will pull up the product page and price match to that.

So....Hasbro has had several major issues with their preorder process, which customers & e-tailers have been complaining about for years. Instead of analyzing these problems and fixing them, they just said "F--- it, we out"? Is that the basics of this debacle?

Went to Disneyland today and picked up the Mcquarrie Vader & Kenobi 2pack.
Both the old star trader in Disneyland and the trading outpost in Downtown Disney had them

Re: Star Wars Black 6 inch General Discussion
Finally got Aayla Secura in. Anyone know why she has double-jointed knees? I thought Lucasfilm only wanted single-jointed knees and elbows, so when I opened her and Clone Wars Darth Maul but then he had single-jointed knees I was confused--why would she get double-jointed and the other Jedi and Sith don't?
