I have questions for Hasbro, about their "no pre-order" statements. Do they really mean no pre-orders? Or will there be a pre-order announced at a later date?

How exactly is this supposed to work? BBTS and other online stores will have them in stock one day and it's a free for all? Do they expect that model to work better?

Is it in response to several online retailers struggling with Hasbro's completely wrong release dates and having to pay for product unexpectedly (lots of product released at once and way earlier than announced). Something that was speculated to have contributed to several online retailers going out of business? If so, I don't see how this changes much, unless the release dates they share with retailers are more accurate.

Is it in response to customers suddenly having to pay for pre-orders unexpectedly? Again because the in stock dates were so off, and product came out 6 months early. Or is it more nefarious, so they don't have to announce a new MSRP, or can change the MSRP later?

It's got me giving Hasbro a fever skeptical look. :?
I didn't watch the stream. What did they say?

Timestamp?

They didn't really say anything. They just said "this isn't going up for pre-order" several times. On PC if you go to the video, click the three dots icon (...), and select "Show Transcript", you can do a Control + Find (CTRL and the F key at the same time), and use that to search for the term "order".

7:37 : "like all the items revealing today it will be reveal only so no pre-orders to announce so definitely definitely look for them as a show up on shelf."

15:02: "figures will not be available for pre-order "

16:56: (this is in regards to the Walmart Excluisve Arc Trooper Jesse) "this one uh will actually have a pre-order for the us as you might have heard Walmart collector con is happening March 16th through the 17th and this item will be pre-ordered at their event on March 16th at 10 A.M Eastern Standard"

21:44: "And he's got no pre-order but he will be available on shelves summer of 2023."

I saw elsewhere someone suggested maybe these will go for preorder when the rest of that wave is shown, rather than doing the thing where the wave is trickled out over time.

I really hope that means they're gonna do the same with Darth Vader, and that the upcoming ROTJ 40th Vader is gonna have all the bells and whistles this newly reveled 4 inch Vader has.
Hope that's the situation and it isn't like Clone Wars Maul where the releases were like a year apart. At least it felt that long.

Pretty sure they just meant no pre-orders after the stream...

Not unlike past Stars Wars fan streams.

What I think they should do is cancel all the upcoming figures and make the next 7 waves all Return of the Jedi with at least 3 ewoks in each wave. Mind you I assume that's just me so I will let you all get back to your expanded characters.

Agreed, they really need to get on with it and get some Ewoks out there. How are we supposed to have all these troopers eaten properly?

At Hasbro’s pace Logray and Chief Chirpa Black Series should be out by the 45th anniversary. Granted if they show up on a Disney + episode it may be faster. Surely they are waiting for 45th anniversary to make Medical Droid and Lobot from ESB.

My love/hate relationship with Black Series continues. On one hand, I'm glad to finally see Ki Adi, but I'm hoping the 2024 date is more of a "catch all" date like they've given recently and he'll be out sooner. Otherwise, why show him off at all? Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for the update, and that they didn't just quietly cancel him or something, but it feels like we didn't have to wait this long for figures like Aayla, Maul, or Saw (I know 2 of the 3 feature a good amount of reuse, but still). I think I've been spoiled by companies like McFarlane that show off a figure and have it on shelves in a few months. I think I wouldn't mind if Hasbro adopted a similar way of doing things.

Jesse is a nice reveal, but that Wal-Mart exclusivity is a buzzkill. The past few exclusives have been a bit easier to get, granted (though any and all troopers are still tougher to get and sell out quicker), but out of the last 12 or so exclusives I've gotten from them, 2 have gotten lost in transit, 1 was outright cancelled, and 3 took so long and had so many people finding them in store months before, that it was a wonder I got them shipped at all (I do think I just went to ebay for one of them). I'm glad Jesse isn't a main character or costume variant that we've been yearning for, but I'd still really like to have him, you know?

The rest of the reveals are nice. I do hope we get some of those TVC reveals in BS soon- namely Vader, Starkiller, and the BoBF Tusken Warrior from a few streams ago. The Endor Trooper will be a welcome addition, if not a wallet breaking one, like the Modal Nodes. I wasn't able to watch the stream- does anyone know if the face plates will be compatible with the Hoth trooper? Malgus will look great, I'm sure. Interested in the Luke and Grogu build-up pack, though I'm now wondering if I should keep my Mando Luke pre-order (I probably will, that cloak looks hella cool). Just wondering what else the pack could come with, or what Grogu/Luke sculpt differences there could be to make it worth the deluxe price.

They still haven't gotten Luke's tunic correct for his appearance in this era. During his training with Grogu on BOBF, there's a point where it looks like he's wearing a straight gi in black, but it's actually the undershirt he has on that show AND the Mandalorian. The tabards are usually over it, but it's not the same undershirt he was wearing in ROTJ (and on the 'Mandalorian' figure Hasbro is releasing). So I'd think, or at least hope, they'll get this aspect correct with this set.

But Hasbro loves putting out Luke-in-black figures over and over and tweaking each a bit to make it irresistible to collectors. They did it for many years with the 3 3/4 line.

Ki Adi Mundi's 2024 release date is a real head scratcher, because the figure in the shots looks like production figure.

I have a feeling that he was slated for an earlier wave but with all the shows coming this year (Bad Batch, Mando Season 3, Ahsoka, & Skeleton Crew), Disney mandated that they get figures out for those to keep excitement up throughout the year. I also wouldn't be surprised to see him by the end of the year.

Sounds like Hasbro is out of the pre-order business for this line, which is... well it's one way of reading response to inaccurate preorder release dates, I guess.

I know I'm in a privileged place where I can afford to preorder and am usually working at my desk when they go up for preorder so I'm biased, but never offering preorders seems like just a simple way to add a massive inconvenience to your buyers, no? I don't know about everyone else, but I sure as heck don't have the time or energy to go chasing these bloody things when they drop, especially the store exclusives. Set it and forget it.

What a bunch of clowns

Pre-orders are the only thing that helps me not to miss a bunch of figures from this line. But hey, sure, keep it up...

Yeah, I'm not sure what this will accomplish. Wouldn't a better solution be to have shorter time spans betweeb preorder and product release?

For so many years Hasbro has been building brand loyalty. I used to always hope Hasbro picked up my dream licenses. But in this last year or so, they are flushing it all down the toilet. One bad decision after another. I am shocked by the ineptitude displayed here.
