The mythosaur pauldron and energy shield would have made this perfect, but its still an instant pre order.

although I think this says a lot about my suggestibility and the power of the Star Wars merchandizing machine
I think you’re right about a Vader rerelease outselling this though
Re: MAFEX Star Wars
Bo-katan is a lot more central so far in season 3 than she was in season 2. I had no interest in a figure during season 2s run, and I’ve been eyeing the Black series figure for a couple weeks nowEnigmaticClarity wrote: ↑Thu Mar 23, 2023 1:52 pmBo Katan is going to peg-warm, but Mafex runs are generally smallish so she'll eventually sell out. Puzzling character selection given how hard the Black Series figure peg-warmed, which was my guess after Hasbro announced it. It's easy to list the top 20+ Star Wars characters that would sell out easily, and Bo Katan is nowhere near that top 20. Re-releases of some already-released figures like Darth Vader would easily sell out faster than her.
I'm sure I'll get her because she does look nice, but I feel completely comfortable waiting for reviews to pour in first.

Re: MAFEX Star Wars
I’m so stoked for this release but honestly pretty surprised Mafex got to it before SH. But I’m ok with it, the Mafex Mando is much better than the SH. As for pegwarming, very little Mafex stuff actually pegwarms. I think part of the reason the black series Bo pegwarmed is because not only was she double packed in the first wave she was in, I believe she was carried forward into a second wave too. Regardless I already ordered this release and can’t wait to get it in hand.

That's because they usually stick to extremely popular characters since they make so few of them per year, but when they dip down into characters in the bottom half of popularity for their franchise they stick around for years. Bo Katan is around the popularity level of an Aquaman Mera or Evil Gwenpool--both of which are still available two years after release. I'm expecting Rescue and probably Captain Marvel to stick around a while as well, although among those I expect Captain Marvel to go faster than the others I listed.

Re: MAFEX Star Wars
I just went to preorder it and it costs $93.38 at HLJ. Holy Hell....that figure had better do more than just stand in my display. The prices are getting ridiculous.

Set the currency the site uses to Japanese Yen instead of USD. The price listed in Yen is 10,260 which according to current exchange rates is about $78. Still high but not $93. Not sure what HLJ is using for conversion rate but it’s definitely not accurate to current rates.Bip wrote:I just went to preorder it and it costs $93.38 at HLJ. Her hands & feet in that picture are more proportionate than the figure but that's a small nitpick & hopefully it doesn't effect the balance.

That said، her feet are small.
I doubt Mafex will add the recent accessories but I think if Bandai makes her it could be from season 3 with things like the energy shield, her most recent upgrade & possibly the darksaber.
Exciting times.

Can't list everywhere because I usually only check four places, and for those Hobby Search is out, eBay has her, Amazon has her, and Amazon Japan has her.

Re: MAFEX Star Wars
Agree to disagree. Comparing Bo to Mera or Gwen-pool is apples to oranges. Gwen-pool is a cult character that’s never been in the mainstream lexicon and Mera is a side character in a meh movie. Bo has been in CW, Rebels, and is now the co-star in the most popular SW thing in decades. Katee Sackhoff gets second listing in the credits behind Pedro. She’s been in more episodes than IG-11, who certainly didn’t pegwarm. Is she gonna sell as well as Mando? Probably not. But she’ll still move units imoEnigmaticClarity wrote: ↑Thu Mar 23, 2023 11:36 pmParintachin73 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 23, 2023 11:07 pmvery little Mafex stuff actually pegwarms.

Any character comparison is apples to oranges, but Mafex chooses so few characters below the A or B list in any franchise that there's not a deep basket of oranges to draw from. Did you have better Mafex examples in mind more comparable to Bo Katan? You listed IG-11 as a possible comparison, but he's currently peg-warming every retailer who sells Mafex--which confuses me given that you asserted the opposite. Maybe you meant an older version of IG-11?
So again--if you've got a better Mafex comparison for Bo Katan's popularity level please do share.

I assume here you mean the 2.0 version--how did that figure sell? I started with action figures in 2018 and didn't fully dive into Mafex until 2020, so she precedes my experience with the line.
In general Catwoman is far more popular than Bo Katan so I'm skeptical of the comparison, but I'm not at all sure about that version of the character. There could be a sea of dislike for Anne Hathaway, that specific suit design, the way Mafex implemented the figure, or something else I'm unaware of.
