G.I. Joe Classified Spirit, Storm Shadow & Cobra Officer Wave

This Officer is my favorite troop figure so far. He looks incredibly slick without the helmet. The boost to torso articulation over every other Trooper is a night-and-day difference. Can't wait for the Target repaints. I'll be treating these guys as Spec Ops rather than Officers just due to their added articulation.



Note to self: Bin up the extra accessories rather than placing them in his belt to lose immediately.

Not my usual WM, a podunk WM in deep southern NM. All they had on the shelf were two Spirits, one SS, one movie Scarlett and the female ninja what'shername from the movie. I think someone might have actually bought the other movie figures, hard as that is to believe.

Storm Shadow was the first of this wave to arrive for me. Great figure, it's pretty much everything I wanted from a classic looking Storm Shadow. I got one niggle with it though - given the placement of his bow holding and arrow knocking hands, the quiver/sword placement is wrong. His arrow knocking hand is his right but his quiver has the arrows over his left shoulder, meaning he'd have to reach across his body to try and draw arrows, which just wouldn't work. It's bugging me now.

This is such a constant problem with Classified. They almost all have the wrong hands. It's really weird considering how well-designed they are otherwise. So many left-hand up/down hinges with right-handed holsters. Even the new Officer has the wrong hinges.

I have four shipments from DS and three from Pulse. Glad I paid in advance for half of those.

I can’t imagine what some of you long time buyers of DS are getting. They must have kicked it into high gear.

I’m glad they aren’t collecting funds for tank until August.

Weirdly, the original 80s figure had that correctly done the other way like you mention. I'm not mad about it and could explain it away he just prefers favoring the swords but yeah its a weird choice.

A tornado is too close to home and generally leaves nothing in its wake. Avalanche pills tons on and I’m no where near it occurring. So it Carrie’s none of the destructive/depressing connotations to me.

Thus a toy-valanche is a positive thing.

I’m no GIJoe expert but have been getting nearly every single release so far. What I’m wondering is how many cobra officers I should get. That is,are these army builders? Or does 1 cobra officer lead a squad of regular troopers? I hope my question makes sense.

I bought 1 Officer for every 10 Cobra Troopers/Infantry.

I already made two of my Cobra Islands officers of differing ranks, and then got a third from my buddy & made it into a specialist (sniper).

I'm only intending on one of these, and as soon as I can score a spare Cobra Commander head & Flint forearms (I love those rolled up sleeves lol), I'm making Interrogator.

The problem with that is he can draw a sword with his left, and pass it to his dominate right hand or two-hand it if he prefers the swords. If he's using his bow, he essentially needs to put the bow down to get another arrow, or juggle everything back and forth between hands before he can nock and fire. You're also more likely to need to draw arrows more often than draw your swords as you'd need to draw an arrow for every shot. He'd have to REALLY prefer the swords and never plan on firing more than one arrow at once with his current configuration.

It's not a figure ruining flaw or anything, but it shows that Hasbro still isn't putting enough thought into some pretty basic stuff, especially since as you noted the vintage figure actually had it correct, not to mention most recent 1:18 releases. Hopefully they read forums like this and will do better. I do notice more figures seem to be getting up/down wrists instead of in/out wrists, so that's some progress. Storm Shadow has two up/downs.

EDIT: I had forgotten - even Arctic Storm Shadow in Classified had the quiver the right way. The reversed quiver is a flaw unique to this release.

Officers are pretty cool. The lack of vest gives some more movement. The blues are close enough to the previous troops. I have a sea of blue with these troops.

May have to get an Officer now after that picture. Just got Storm Shadow today and it's everything I wanted except fists. I hope they'll make another with a more "natural" looking draped hood too, as the bulbous hood I just leave off because it looks like he's wearing a cheap rain poncho. Other than that, great job on Storm Shadow!

I ordered SS, Croc Master and Spirit within the 1st minute of DST putting these up. No movement on the order. This has been a trend lately. I had to go with BBTS for Thundercats as DST did not come through. They canceled my Kamino troopers after 9 months. I had to pay more on the after market. Not sure what is going on as I used have fantastic experiences with DST, unfortunately I am beginning to lose trust. It may not be their fault but in the end I want to know I’m getting my orders. For the record I am a patient person and don’t need to get stuff first but when literally every other online store gets an item I am always waiting a long while which has led to cancellations and going with more reliable stores.
