LOL! Although I must say that Barbecue being up for preorder for not only more than 3 minutes but OVERNIGHT is certainly a step in the proper direction. Watch now that I have said that I will get a Target cancellation notice in 5 minutes.

Why do people dislike Barbecue so much? I don't know much about him, but after doing some searching and self educating it seems like he's the least sexy Joe to many collectors (The fact that Breaker sold out on Target and he isn't is also telling). I think he has a cool design and I guess I've always been fond of fire fighting. They are just as heroic and cool as someone parachuting into the jungle guns blazing. Also, he seems to be a base body for other characters that are more exciting. Wouldn't surprise me of Hasbro knew this and wanted to get him out of the way first before giving us "cooler" figures like Snow Job.

BBQ isn’t beloved? He was a very cool figure for the time, badass gear, maybe the most hardcore-looking firefighter EVER, he had great featuring on the cartoon (and yes we need an unmasked head: maybe I can port a Kletus Kassidy ML Irish mop onto a less-psycho head), was repainted in Slaughter’s Marauders (I’ll take that deco as an exclusive, please) and was in the Eco-Warriors. He’s got all the bona fides. And this Classified version kicks everything about the old-school figure up to eleven.

"These people, they go to sleep. They think everything's fine, everything's good... They wake up the next day and they're on fire!"

Now that we have the firefighter in the works, let's get a Blowtorch figure out there to give him some fires to put out. Man I do wish the helmet was removable on BBQ.

For my part, it's less about lack of love for BBQ (him and Blowtorch are both faves of mine) and more about the WTF Factor of doing him ahead of another...what? dozen plus? more "conventional" Joe picks.

Or even just characters that came sooner in the original line.

I'll be happy to get him either way. But I maybe would have expected like Stalker or Rock'n'Roll sooner.

Seems counterintuitive to say that you would have rather had other figures made first before barbecue when he's a CI exclusive not in the mainline and not taking anyones spot, when if someone else had been made that you wanted more, as a CI Exclusive they could have very well been impossible to get (the new era of availability not withstanding) so what would you have rather had?

I mean i'm just happy they are making joes, i'm ecstatic when they are reasonable to acquire, i'm not going to fuss bout who gets made before someone else.

The choice of BBQ is similar to ML making somebody like Xemnu. It makes the line interesting. If you start with the just the most popular downward, I feel the line will never get to some characters. Frankly, I think the Classified line needs to start diversifying and picking some more oddball, B/C list characters. While BBQ wouldn't have been in my top 20 Joes, I think his appearance could be a harbinger of other specialists making it into the line.

While I love more grounded, military looking guys like Stalker. I also think somebody like Bazooka or Sci-Fi could be really cool. The really unique-looking guys. Also somebody like Torpedo or Snow Job who have more environmentally-themed equipment.

I don't like the pre-authorization hold Target uses either. If it ever goes away I haven't noticed, I see it every time I look at my banking information. It's the reason I only pre-order exclusives from them, and nothing else.
I preordered the ML Iron Man wave over three or four orders via Target a few weeks ago. Those initial charges are no longer on my statement. A couple of them have been charged again within the last two days. I assume that means they're starting to process the order. Honestly, I haven't really paid attention to the previous preorder charges. I'm just assuming they disappear in a day or two. And they ping them again every so often to make sure you still have the funds. Isn't that how everybody does it? Or does Target pings them more frequently?

Maybe Barbeque doesn't look as conventional as the rest of the Joes, but that's what makes him a fun inclusion this early in the line. We could be getting a ton more figures on the Duke, Roadblock, or Beachhead bodies (and we will), so this is a nice break. Plus, he brings some nice non-green color to the display, which is something the Joes haven't had much of since wave 1.

Kind of surprised Barbecue isn't sporting a removable helmet (at least, no indication so far that it is removable). What's he hiding under there?

No disagreement on any points.
I just would have preferred Blowtorch or Torpedo/Wet Suit or Lifeline/Doc to fulfill the roles you guys are talking about.

It's not a strategic analysis of the line. It's purely a statement of personal preference.

After all the success others have been having I decided to try my hand at locating Major Bludd and he turned up in stock at the Target way out by my job. They said three in stock and its a 20 - 25 minute drive. When I got to the toy isle there were none on the pegs but the site still showed 3. I searched around and found one sitting on a shelf with the Power Ranger 2 packs. So while not as bountiful as other areas, its still looking better than the Viper and Firefly releases. Currently says 4 in stock in Woodhaven MI as the closest.
