She's a Joe.

Her figure came out in 2009, she's gotten some play in the modern comics.

She was in the 2009 toyline FIRST. She was used in some more modern comics AFTER.
Her comic debut was August 2009 in an IDW special so if the figure came first it's likely only by a few months.

She also "debuted" in the Rise of Cobra video game (for which she was initially designed) the same month. Same week, I think, too. As I understood it, all three were supposed to be virtually simultaneous, but the action figure wave that had the Helix figure snuck out early.

So she was designed as a toy and they tried to have a media launch for the character at the time of the figure's release.

Sounds like it. I remember her reception after she was introduced in the comics being mixed. Some felt she looked too much like a super hero and didn't fit in style wise. Others felt that the character was created just to be cool (she was a fighter that rivaled Snake-Eyes) but lacked depth. Personally, I thought she was interesting. She was on the autistic spectrum so her personal interactions with others were awkward. Her autism was also the reason why she was such a capable fighter. She was basically Rain Man when it came to combat.

I'm just appalled that Hasbro would design GI Joe characters as toys to be used in media tie-ins.

Hype for Helix, she's another one of the newer additions I really liked. Don't care at all about generic green shirts though, it misses the point entirely for me as far as what the team is supposed to represent. Leave the troop building to Cobra and the Iron Grenadiers imo.

Or it's a throwback and nod to the G.I. Joe property before Real American Hero - when all the G.I. Joe figures were 12 inches tall and wore green army fatigues or camo.

This line is G.I. Joe Classified - not Real American Hero 2.0 and so offering up the green shirts to fight along side the specialized operatives is fine.

Green shirts are all fine and good, but more ninjas please. Especially if they're in neon. Eco Warriors too!

I agree with the sentiment of Green Shirts which basically red shirts in my collection. But Green Shirts are better soldiers than Cobra Blue Shirts. In Classified Blue Shirts are loaded for bear. Hope the Green Shorts are sufficiently equipped.

It would be nice if prior to a relatively unfamiliar character being up for pre-order if Hasbro could upload a comic featuring that character as being someone people would be motivated to buy. If the character was featured in a cartoon, link a youtube full episode of that. Let people know the cool factor and why you should buy.

I don't know anything about Helix, so I'll pass.

I’d actually like the file cards to return. I’m too lazy to look up their stats online. For me, I’d like to cut out their bios from the back of the box.

Helix is a cool design although I know nothing about the character. Loved the 4" version but that was $8 when she was new. Gotta stick with ARAH vintage characters and designs with these creeping up to the $30 mark.

One of the Walmarts here just got serious about clearing out all GI Joe. Movie figures too finally marked down to $10, ARAH LJ $10, Croc Master $25. This is a store known to just move stuff to clearance but at pretty much the same price as normal or slightly less.
