Was browsing Aliexpress and I saw the BAT and Alley Viper in stock. Viper going for $80 and the BAT for close to $60. Not going to spend that kind of money on one figure.

Preordered 1 each of the BAT and Alley Viper. I may end up picking up more if I see them in person, but I never had more than one of most Cobra troops as a kid, so I always treated the specialized troopers as unique, anyway. So, for now, my Alley Viper will just be a specific character who specializes in urban warfare, sort of a Cobra counterpoint to Beachhead.

I only remember Beachhead being a MOUT specialist in the Pursuit of Cobra line. I dont own the classified figure, but is there something from that figure indicating he operates in urban terrain?

Also, semi-related sidebar- I’ve always thought Beachhead was a dumb name for a non-marine/navy/coast guard character.

Couldn’t Beachead be repurposed into Shockwave? The urban swat door kicking specialist?

Beach-Head is a Ranger. He was released in the “urban mission” subset of Pursuit of Cobra, but urban assault has never been his specialty*: his primary specialty per his file card is “infantry” with his secondary being “small arms armorer”. Shockwave would be the more natural counterpart to Alley Vipers, and he could indeed be largely repurposed from CI Beach-Head, although he’d need at least a new hat and I would prefer a new head entirely for personality.

*edit: I looked up his PoC file card and they do indeed identify him as an urban specialist and pair him with Alley Vipers: but that is a pretty big and one-time departure from his usual depiction as a hard-bitten Ranger and sometime DI.

Got Akiko and Scarlett today!

Beautiful figures, but my Scarlett the loosest legs out of any of my Hasbro figures...

Anyone have any good suggestions for bandoliers? I’m thinking of making a Rock n’ Roll from an extra Breaker.

I definitely did not think of Beachhead's primary specialty as being urban assault, but I couldn't remember who the Joes had, and when I looked it up, his PoC file card was the first that came up. Insert whoever might be more applicable, and it's the same idea.

Thanks for the link. I’m really just looking for the bandoliers. $34 is a little steep for me. Appreciate the heads up though.

I guess Gridiron does a limited run?

Noticed that the Cobra Radio Operator set no longer appears for sale.

They restock from time to time. Just follow them on Instgram. They seem good about posting when stuff is back in stock.

Shockwave

Image

His real name is Jason A. Faria, and his rank is that of corporal E-4. Shockwave was born in Dearborn, Michigan.

Shockwave's primary military specialty is Special Weapons and Tactics, and his secondary military specialty is choir. Shockwave was the youngest member of the Detroit Police Department S.W.A.T. Team, and had earned two citations for bravery before joining the G.I. Joe Team. Shockwave is his S.W.A.T. Team's door kicker – the first one inside, and the first to find out how bad the situation really is. As a member of a choir, he is also a tenor.

Please please please give us Shockwave: both original release colors with the wild urban camo, and also the Night Force version as pictured above.

Ooh, Night Force. That would be fun.

Just reminded me how much I miss file cards. Whatever improvements Hasbro makes to product availability, character design, accessories, the line will still be getting an A- until they add some personality to the figures through file card inclusion.
