These are nightmare fuel.
Those hoping Playmates would do a straight SF line instead of this need to realize, this might be the ONLY way they were allowed to do SF figures, just like Hasbro did the PR/TMNT sets.

As for the figures themselves, Ryu and Chun-Li look pretty okay. The lack of torso crunch on either kinda kills whatever interest I might've had, though.
Re: Playmate: TMNT vs. STREET FIGHTER 2 packs!
Playmates only does these two packs so they can hold onto the TMNT license, simple as that. Making them two-packs then baits people who would only be interested in SF figures into buying these old reused TMNT figures too.Roufuss wrote: ↑Mon May 23, 2022 10:31 pmAlso… if you have the Street Fighter license, why not just drop the TMNT aspect and go full on Street Fighter?
The only competition is figures in a different scale 4x the price. Even half assed, a 6” Street Fighter line would do well with people who need everything 1/12 and has built-in repaint potential.

Re: Playmate: TMNT vs. STREET FIGHTER 2 packs!
I gotta say….I actually kinda like these.
If they extended the paint details to the arms and legs I think I’d be in.
I have plenty of regular looking turtles. I like the sloppy ink looks of these.

These are most likely 7"MarvelLegendsMan wrote: ↑Tue May 24, 2022 12:08 amI've wanted some Street Fighter 6 inch figures for a while. Dare I say it, Ryu and Chun LI actually look decent. But those TMNT figures...yucky.
Am I really going to buy 4 of these two-packs? Why not just do a dedicated Street Fighter line if you have the license?

I actually never noticed that on the low-res 16-bit TVs. But still, I'd prefer if they just had the eyebrows on his skin.

Re: Playmates: TMNT Miscellaneous
Figuarts are still the best, but at least these are better than Storm (ALL OF THEIR FIGURES ARE ON STEROIDS, FIGHT ME
).
Leo's head would look better a skosh further down on the neck, and Mikey's would look better a skosh bigger & more down on the neck. They're both sitting too high, and Mikey's seems undersized.
And I doubt these are just Photoshops, so it's probably too late to fix at least Mikey's head size (and there would need to be modification to make them sit lower).
Unsure how I feel. I snagged the Shredder & Triceraton packs from BBTS, and while Shredder is as bad as he looked in photos, I REALLY like the Triceraton. *shrug*
Also, Guile will likely be too big for my Figuarts, just like SOTA's & Storm's (who is too big side-to-side, as well as top-to-bottom).
Hmmm....very unsure.

Re: Playmates: TMNT Miscellaneous
According to toyark, these are 6" but could be a typo.
https://news.toyark.com/2022/05/24/tmnt ... oys-468867
in the article they have the full list:
Ryu vs. Leonardo
Chun-Li vs. Michelangelo
Guile vs Raphael
Ken Masters vs. Donatello
kinda knew we'll get ken and guile but i was hoping for someone else that hasn't gotten a figure like dejay, vega, etc.
as for ths new sets, the SF ryu and chun-li looks great, the turtles look like they stepped out of an episode of robot chicken with those odd heads.
i might still buy them but at discount.

Well, those are the Classics molds, which were just rereleased in the villain & Cobra Kai 2-packs. They're a little big.

Yeah, I had assumed they were 7" scale because of those body molds. I picked up these recently just for their weapons, they are definitely bigger than 6"

I wanna compare against Ryu & Chun-Li Figuarts just for myself, so I might as well share pics when I do so later on tonight.

I wish I had the Figuarts figures, but I got into the game too late. They're quite expensive on eBay. I wonder how much worse these will be.

Re: Playmates: TMNT Miscellaneous
I think the Classic Collection is supposed to be a 7" scale line, since the turtles are often on the short side. It's most evident in how chunky they look compared to a Marvel Legends figure. If the pictures are truly reflective of how these new two-packs are sized, then the Street Fighter characters could very well be more of a 1:12 scale. They certainly don't look like they scale with the turtles, though I'm guessing those interested in this line won't be too concerned about that since this isn't based on an actual game or anything.

Sorry, guys, my monitor burnt out recently, so I haven't been able to do much posting at home, and Imgur won't cooperate mobile-ly.

Yeah, if I got these, I definitely couldn't integrate Guile in with the Figuarts. C'mon, Bandai, stop leaving sh** unfinished. *glares at Lupin III missing ONE FIGURE*
