I've hit a few decent poses with him, but yeah.... every time I take him down thinking 'it'll be fun to repose him' because I love that variant so much, I'm just taken aback all over again at how awful he is to pose. Everything feels ..bad. He somehow doesn't feel like he poses even as well as other figures in the line. I'm afraid of damaging him so he feels extra finicky just for that reason. Just overall a bad experience every time.
But I still want him on the shelf and I'm ashamed to admit that if they made an apology Leo, and got everything right, I'd buy him all over again just to have a better version. But he's also the catalyst figure for me deciding I am pretty much not collecting S7 products anymore.

You probably just missed it but it was actually discussed that his hands and heads are not swappable.

Kallor8 wrote: Regular Leo feels like different company made him, it's very strange.
Also something that was discussed earlier but it's very likely that this difference largely stems from the regular Leo being produced at S7's regular Chinese factory and Samurai Leo being produced at a new factory (Vietnam, I believe).

Just received Slash & Leatherhead from one of the EE sales. Have to say I am pretty impressed with both!

First off, both are quite large. Leatherhead especially.

While Leatherhead has a few loose joints, I was able to balance him pretty well. And Slash has nice tight joints all around, something I have not seen from Super7 in a while.

Slash has a shit ton of accessories, so I'll need to choose how to deck him out.

Not sure how many more of these TMNT Ultimates I need, but I plan to pick up Space Cadet Raph and Triceraton.

I would like an alternate Donnie, and do like the punk rock version, but then I would need the rest of the musical turtles, which would then leave me looking for another Donnie...

And I would absolutely buy Outback Walkabout (too much G.I. Joe today ha) if they ever make him.

When it comes to Super 7 TMNT releases, there are only a handful that I would want at this point, and it would be purely to have them in the same scale as the 4 brothers. Thankfully, there appear to be license restrictions with my top two (Usagi Yojimbo, and Panda Khan).

Back when this line was first starting out and I saw more promise of what it could be instead of disappointment with what it is, the Wild West, Universal Monsters, and Cave Turtles were on my instant buy list.

Now, after 6 waves or increasingly poor craftsmanship from Super 7 - I'm ready for any of the puff piece interviewers to actually hold his feet to the fire on what the hell is going on or for Super 7 to just move on from the line.

I'll pinch my nose and pick up Wingnut and Genghis when they hit the Amazon or EE discount a palooza; but if Panda and Usagi are off the table then my interest pretty much is as well. Rat King, Napoleon and Fugitoid would pretty much end the line for me at this point.

I'm in on this line strictly for the characters that look cool. Most of my nostalgia has been tapped at this point with the only real remaining figures being the rest of the music line, Walkabout, and Monty Moose. If Rat King turns out well, I'll get him. If they do Hothead and he looks awesome, then sure. I don't even really need Undercover Don, even though I have the two released disguised turtles and have Space Cadet Raph on preorder. Wave 9 is the first one so far that I'm out on completely, and it's just because the designs aren't all that exciting to me. Maybe if Wingnut or Scumbug were to drop down to 30 I'd grab em, but that's probably it. In general, I try not to buy toys just because they're cheap so they'd have to also be impressive on some level to get me to bite and lately Super7 isn't inspiring much confidence that both will look awesome upon release.

For me it's been:

Wave 1 - bought all four, including four of the Foot Soldiers

Wave 2 - got 3/4, skipped Mutagen Man

Wave 3 - got all 4

Wave 4 - got 2/4, Donatello and Casey

Wave 5 - got 2/4, Krang and Leatherhead

Wave 6 - Only got Slash. I also got Surfer Mikey from this wave, but I just got him to use his head. Already sold the body with it's toy head so don't really count that as me owning him.

Wave 7 - getting zero

Wave 8 - getting zero

Wave 9 - getting zero

I've also gotten zero of the glow in the dark variants.

So yeah, only wanting one figure out of wave 6, and then waves 7, 8, and 9 being all complete skips for me - add to that the delays, the QC issues, the price increases - no wonder my enthusiasm for this line has seriously died down.

As long as the line continues to deliver Playmates designs modernized and Playmates characters that were toy exclusive, I’ll keep buying.

Scratch was my favorite TMNT figure from 2022. Hot Spot, Walkabout, Lionheart and Halfcourt would be amazing.

Once this line goes, there goes any hope of getting them.

I don't know that's true.

Super7, NECA, and Loyal Subjects all have the same license, they just chose different styles. (But they could all do the same thing in a cutthroat civil war. Nothing stopping it.)

Super7 did a comics character with Guerilla Gorilla. They could absolutely do two additional frogs and the rest of the Mighty Mutanimals and Hun and Tatsu and Karai and Danny Pennington.

And NECA is starting to do "toon" figures with no toon reference like Space Usagi.

NECA as I understand it could do toy designs. They just haven't. It'd be fairly logical to do some of those toy characters in toon style to extend the toon line.

Honestly, I think a big untapped area is to expand the movie line with characters never in a movie like Utrom, Bebop and Rocksteady, Triceraton, etc.

Those are some very good ideas. I hope NECA takes note.

Ah, I should have clarified.

Yea, just for me, I don’t want toy figures in a “toon” style — I want updated Playmates designs like we are getting now with the 4H sculpting.

If NECA did strictly updated toy designs that matched the original Playmates aesthetics in a new line, I’m in. If they go for that softer, less detailed, cartoony toon look, I’d probably still get them for the toon line but it’s not what I’d prefer.

When I look at what the 4H and Super7 are pumping out now, it’s a very Playmates style of tons of sculpt, tons of details on the figures (as you’d expect) and it’s very different than the toon style or anything else NECA puts out. Even the proportions of the figures match that Playmates chunky style. Guerilla Gorilla is new but absolutely looks like something that could have been in the vintage line imo.

There is a lot of reasons to dunk on this line, but TMNT Ultimates is the only toy line I get nostalgia flashbacks opening each character. “Oh damn, this is exactly like the Slash I had as a kid!” I’d probably sell all my other TMNT stuff before Ultimates just because the Playmates stuff is what I remember the most.

Neca has experience with updating old toy designs: Kenner Aliens and Predator lines. Though, I will say, IMO, the Predator Kenner tribute line has been better than the Aliens ones. Some of the Aliens designs got completely changed, and the ones that were only updated can't stand up, while the Predator line was extremely extensive and matched up pretty well with the old stuff.

If NECA just did the four turtles in their toy colors, that would be good enough for me.

Did alittle research. i think this casey is the best looking one. taller, thicker and better mask then the piece of toast on the face that neca made.
when i have him will repaint his shirt, pants and sneakers. his sneakers shape are perfect for a Converse repaint which i have done before. will also cover his midsection, that should be easy. shave the ridges then repaint over.

Super7 Casey? Thicker? He's lanky as f***. His legs are long and rather skinny, his midriff is pretty narrow (especially compared to his buff arms). And what kind of toast do you eat?

I have Super7 Casey and I (kinda) like him. But he's straight up garbage compared to NECA Toon (and Mirage) Casey Jones.

I don't even know how someone can -subjectively- say there's a best-looking Casey when all the ones we have are very clearly based on very specific, very different sources. NECA Toon Casey is the best looking cartoon-based Casey. Super7 Casey is the best vintage toy inspired modern Casey. Etc. I wouldn't even know where to begin trying to directly compare them to each other. It's not like you can just toss any Casey into any Turtles display. At least, I couldn't.
