I haven't pre-ordered the movie figures and I'm waffling a lot on it. On the one hand, it seems like almost every Deluxe release has been discounted eventually, and they're quite expensive in Canada so it's definitely worth getting them later than everyone else for a bit of a price cut. On the other hand, they look mostly awesome AND I can easily see these being more popular than other deluxe releases and I'd be so upset if I missed out on them.

Decisions, decisions.

I have the Super7 movie versions so I'm holding out for a discount or hoping for them to eventually show up at Target. Mattel seems to be making plenty of MOTU figures for their current lines.

Yeah, I didn't order the Masterverse movie versions because I have the S7 ones. I don't really need both, but if Mattel had released theirs first, I never would have bothered with S7's.

I need Mattel to refocus on making more characters besides He-Man though. They've done a surprising job filling out the ranks of the heroic and evil warriors, but there are plenty of gaps.

I have the S7 movie He-Man and I like it fine. Looks quite nice over on the shelf. While I'll always be excited about a movie He-Man, I wouldn't be nearly -as- excited if it weren't for Skeletor. I'm excited to finally have them facing off on the shelf. I could never bring myself to buy the S7 ones. With He-Man it's okay even if it's too exaggerated, but the MOTUC body is absolutely awful for movie Skeletor. Does it fit in and make him look like a 'vintage toy movie Skeletor?' I guess. But that isn't what I want, so I strongly dislike it.

I hope Mattel does God-Skeletor as well. Maybe in a set with a battle-damaged He-Man.

I might be crazy but it seems like Target updated the pictures for NA He-Man at some point because they look a bit better than before. Maybe Mattel sent them new ones? It seems like the poses and head sculpt are better.

The Super7 movie God Skeletor is one of my favorite figures they've done. That figure is fantastic and I love it. But I don't care even a tiny bit about the MOTU movie so the figure doesn't seem "too bulky" to me or whatever. It just looks amazing. Their regular movie Skeletor is fine too - but I think the Mattel version actually looks equally good. I'm sure I'll be picking up Matty's even though I already have the S7 version.

But movie He-Man looks terrible no matter who's making it. I bought the Super7 version and hate it. I dislike the look of the Mattel version at least as much and will definitely pass.

Which isn't surprising. I mean, I hate it for pretty specific reasons, but I wouldn't ever suggest the sculpt (new parts, head) and paint aren't absolutely on point. In that regard, it's beautiful and I could very easily say that, for me and my tastes, if it were on a less exaggerated body, I could probably call it Super7's best figure. In terms of their execution on the -idea- (movie Skeletor on a MOTUC body), it's borderline flawless. But I just really hate that body for it so much that it sours the entire figure for me and makes me not able to appreciate it.

He-Man less so just because Dolph was legit huge. But then, I -like- the He-Man figure well enough. Beyond just making better action figures than those base bodies allow for, and a nicer cape, I'm not even sure what I would have done differently to make that figure any better. The colors on the armor are excellent and the details are pretty on point. So being able to forgive that body makes him a strong contender for one of my favorite S7 figures (the race for mediocrity that may be).

I'm absolutely sure that my strong attachment to the MOTU movie colors all of my perceptions on this stuff.

I just really, really, REALLY like the movie designs and the overall aesthetic. I don’t even care about the actor likenesses, although the Langella-in-makeup portrait does look on-point. These were my favorite “costumes” for He-Man and Skeletor as a kid and I was always bummed we never got versions in the original line. The Super7 ones are definitely groovy: what appeals to me about the Masterverse ones is that I won’t be nervous to throw them in my bag and slam them against each other on breaks at work.

If anyone wants the latest figures from this line to ship from BBTS, I could have them ship the lonely Star Wars holiday figure I've got sitting in my pile of loot right now, which would absolutely mean that the Masterverse stuff will start shipping an hour later. (Not bashing BBTS, just making fun of my wildly bad luck with picking POL shipment bundles...)

I don't think anything official has been said, it's all just been speculation so far.

Finally found classic Teela at Walmart tonight. But she rang up $25! That’s new, right?

Is that more or less than what the average cost? Because up here in the land of Cannucks they start at $40-45 for basic figures. Deluxe like N.E. beastman and King Grayskull start at $50. On sale or clearance they go down to $30-35. However you can now find revelations Skeletor and He-man up here on clearance for $20-25,

They seem to retail for $35 here in Canada, nowhere have I seen them for that much. Walmart has had them at $30 for a while now. The deluxe pricing is quite strange, $50 for most, $55 for Beast Man ($48 at Walmart), and $60 for King Grayskull (TRU exclusive).

I don't know about that, they might be less online at Walmart up here in Canada because of the different retailers using their site, but they would still have at least another $10-15 for shipping after that. Its the same problem with canadian online retailers, they might have them on for $30-35, but then you add shipping and it's back to the more expensive prices comparative to retail.
In the actual brick and mortar Walmart locations it's a different story. I was just at my local store yesterday any anything new was $39.99 for regular figures (all they have had for months is Fisto and Andra), and the only deluxe figure they had was Beastman on for $49. Gamestop stopped carrying anything new from the line, but before they blew them out to get rid of them, non deluxe figures were original retail $39.99 at my store. T.R.U. doesn't seem to have any of the basic figures now, but the lesser priced deluxe figures are regular $49.99. Currently they are on sale for $35.99, but that is for a limited time. The worst offenders are the couple of local comic stores around me where they are either $40 or $45.
This is the reason I didn't get into the line at first because it was too rich for my blood, until I started finding these figures on discount.
