No, this isn't the place to talk about low riding jeans or butt cream. In the Coin Slot, it's all about video games - PC, console, handheld, and online.

Mile Morales and SM1 run great on PS4 Pro. Steady framerate and haven't noticed any long loads but the SSD might make it run smoother on PS5. Probably just the standard higher resolution and framerate that most last gen to current gen games get. The lack of discounted or even free upgrade makes me wince for the day I eventually find a PS5. I know in the case of Horizon Forbidden West it's more than just the PS5 game with details turned down a notch or two (or vice versa). It really uses the SSD drive to it's fullest so the PS4 version has to be creative to get around that. Still I don't look forward to rebuying SM, Mile Morales and Horizon again at full price. XBox and it's free updates to most of my games has me spoiled!

Just grabbed Diablo 2 Prime Evil edition. Already have the base Diablo 3 on PS4 but $20 for Diablo 2 and the upgraded Diablo 3 just made sense to grab! I even have an old save for Diablo 3 from a free play weekend that's further along than where I'm at on the PS4 version. Never really got into the Diablo series so Diablo 2 has been on my radar for a while..

I feel you on this. I played DA: Inquisition originally on the XBox 360, because that's what I had. When I saw how different it looked and played on the XBox One, I bought a new system and still had to buy the entire game all over again because there were no free upgrades or anything like that. That being said, I never regretted it. I remember being blown away by how many NPCs there were in town all on screen at the same time. Easily triple or quadruple the number milling around in the 360 version. Reminded me of the first time ever booting up the first Assassin's Creed, which was mind-blowing at the time.

I finished the main story and the first two parts of the DLC so far for Spider-Man and it really is a great game, despite my varied complaints. Definitely holding to my opinion that the game would actually be considerably better/more fun if it were less bloated, because the story itself is a lot of fun to play through and it actually feels like the collectibles and repeated stuff like Taskmaster and the YouTube chick just kill the momentum of the actual story.

This becomes WAY more pronounced in the DLC where each part adds a whole bunch of new [email protected]#$ Ubisoft map icons to go to instead of just giving you a solid story to play. The worst part being that there is a good story in the DLC that, again, is just being obfuscated by their need to throw a bunch of busy work at you. [email protected]#$ your [email protected]#$ paintings. Seriously.

Also, on a personal note; I wish nothing but bad things for the person that designed/approved the minigun thugs. The 'bruiser' class thugs are already stupid enough in this game without making them virtually invincible. It's not even a difficulty thing for me. Because I don't mind all the Sable guys so much and they can be tough in numbers,
For me the problem is immersion. It's the same reason I had a lot of problems getting into the Star Wars Jedi game; I don't care how thick some dude is, I just don't buy that he's straight up immune to regular attacks from a guy that can throw around cars in the same way I don't think a regular ass Stormtrooper should be tanking multiple hits from a lightsaber. Frankly, all the regular mook enemies in SM have too much health and probably deal too much damage too easily. If you scaled them back a little bit, you could have the bruisers just be a little more damage spongey and hit a little harder without the other nonsense. So they already aren't really balanced in a way I like for a superhero game.
Adding a minigun that basically makes them even harder to do any damage to/web up/anything was just.. lazy and stupid. An obvious cry of 'we don't know what else to do here and we need a tougher enemy type.'

Also, the Hammerhead fight sucked. I had to cheese it a bit and go hang out on the crane a couple of times to regain my suit power and heal up because that fight is long and the design of the combat area makes it tough to see what's going on and get far enough away while dodging.

Overall, I'll still complain about some of the controls or the way Spider-Man 'feels.' Sometimes he doesn't stick to things when you want him to, sometimes he sticks to things you don't want him to. I lost a chase once because I got tangled up in the cross-members under a bridge and it feels like it takes forever to actually 'unstick' SM from anything. He also can't really dodge for shit when he's on a wall, which is weird and feels wrong. I hope SM2 can polish up some of this.

I expect to finish the DLC in the next day or two. I'm really tempted by the idea of New Game+ so I can wear the costumes I want when I want, have all my stuff already, and therefore just experience the story itself rather than having to farm bullshit to build up my skills/gadgets. On the other hand.. there's a lot of other games to play.

I know what you mean. Just bought the Series X version of Control. Another $40, I bought the XB1 version for full price when it came out, but boy is it pretty! That ray-tracing looks great. I think HDR is my favorite new thing in movies and games so RT really compliments that. I'm not too fused about FPS increases or native 4K but RT, I'll upgrade for that. Also got Alan Wake remastered for sale over the weekend. I love Remedy's stuff and just learned we're getting Max Payne 1 and 2 being remade into a single game next year. That's bought day 1! I reluctantly grabbed a 2TB SSD expansion plug-in for my Series X because I'm tired of moving games around between internal and my 2-external mechanical HDDs.

The Quarry - I love these kind of games but it did feel a bit clunky at times. Enjoyable overall.

Partner and I played through The Quarry and we mostly really liked it. It's nice to see how they've come since Until Dawn and Hidden Agenda. On our first playthrough, we managed to keep almost everyone alive:
Spoiler! :
We lost Nick when he got shot in the cell. Oops.
We lost Ryan during the fight with the Hacketts; sorry Ryan.
We lost Jacob in the forest because we didn't run when we had the chance. He kinda sucked anyway.
Overall, we liked it, and how easy it was to jump back to earlier chapters to see a different ending without replaying the entire game. There's room for some quality of life improvements, but it was pretty fun.

I started 2018's God of War the other day. Only about two hours in so far, I think. Maybe 3?

Believe it or not, I have never played a God of War game before in my life. I know the story. I've seen them being played. But I was never into them. Seems pretty fun so far. Definitely feel like the camera needs to back the hell off a bit, though. SO tired of video games where the camera's focal point seems to be the back of your shoulder. The silly little, immersion-breaking indicators whenever an enemy is beside or behind you wouldn't even be necessary if they just moved the camera back like.. 3 damn feet.

I've been playing the hell out of Vampire Survivors. I heard it was one of the best games of last year, and it's on Xbox Game Pass and Steam for like $6, so I figured why not? I don't really know how to sell the game, but the developers describe it as "a time survival game with minimalistic gameplay and roguelite elements." It's a surprising combination of skill and strategy for something so simplistic.

It's addicting, and it was developed by someone who used to work on casino games, so I was worried that it would leave me feeling empty like mobile/Facebook games do, but that's not the case at all. When I finish a run, I get the rush to go again as I do with Hades or Heroes of Hammerwatch. I've got about 12 hours in now and see myself going for at least another 12. Highly recommended.

I've been playing the Dead Space remake, and I'm really loving the care they put into this. From a design standpoint, I've always really loved the HUD being integrated into the back of the spacesuit, and the menu being an in-game hologram. Definitely some great choices for updates as well, since they've given the main character a voice this time (and very normal human reactions to things) and the annoying asteroid cannon part has been completely revamped.

I'm playing a dead space remake, a game I made a long time ago and I really liked it... You can really say that it hasn't lost any of its quality.
