Doubtful. We’ve gotten two TV figures in three years with nothing even remotely rumored. Todd likes comics, movies, and games. In that order.

True it’s possible to get doom patrol figures but the comic versions than the tv versions.
It’s really unfortunate that we haven’t gotten more tv figures than what we got, not sure if it’s an issue with the studios i.e cw or with Warner bros limited him to only movie figures and not tv shows.
Pretty much at this point we should have already gotten several figures from all the shows we gotten like arrow, flash, legends, stargirl, and more.
Happy to have oli and Barry but sucks we don’t have Kara, Clark, Sarah, Luke etc. kinda nice we got a good decent amount of figures from dcd before they ended, I still have mines on display.

On topic:
Blue Hush Batman's brilliant. My favourite comic Batman from McFarlane by a mile.
Deadman's lovely, too. Don't love these high waisted crotches, but crotches often look rubbish on action figures that aren't specifically intended to be wearing briefs, so no worse than most. Would choose a skinnier Kelley Jones body if I got my way, but that's just personal preference and not indicative of the majority. Great re-purposing of the head, though.
On discussion:
I know he's divisive- knowingly part of his shtick for decades, I think; and moreso when it was 'necessary' for him to be- but Rich Johnston's always been spectacularly helpful, nice and kind to me professionally. Genuine with honest intentions. I get that, like many, he can be misunderstood in print/text; and he's absolutely as fair game as anyone to find disagreeable-
But I live my life with loyalty to those I have great personal experience of, unless they do something diabolical and unforgivable, which means I'll defend them when I feel I need to, too.
So: not a scumbag.
Back on topic:
Was really hoping for a quick-and-easy Lobo variant with a Bisley spikey hair sculpt to go with the upcoming hog. No suggestion so far, eh?

First, I do think it's criminal not to get the main characters. Particularly Hoechlin's Superman. He's played the role now in multiple shows and his current show is closest in terms of Flash and Arrow to being a ratings juggernaut even if Season 2 saw a decline.
On the other hand, contemporary toy adaptations of media always suck because they're based on concept art and done before it's known what works about a show or movie. Hasbro's movie Marvel Legends are almost all wrong and have to be redone.
There's something to be said about waiting and letting nostalgia guide your choices.
Mattel ended up releasing a Flash Jay Garrick that wasn't even Jay Garrick.
If you released one now, you could be confident that it was an enduring portrayal by JWS across at least two different shows and get it right.
DC Direct did a lot of Arrow figures that were, frankly, kind of boring. I guess they lucked out by only doing the first three main characters from Smallville and its Justice League in wave 2 because a Chloe Sullivan figure at the height of her popularity would have been... interesting now. Still, they missed a lot that's memorable by working in the moment. I'd take a John Glover figure over a Cheerleader Lana any day. And my Better Call Saul collection needs a Michael McKean as Perry.
I don't know if most TV will make the cut if you go on nostalgia years later. Lynda Carter and Adam West. Super Friends. BTAS. JLU.
I honestly think Flash is the one to rise to that level out of the Arrowverse. Longest running show. I think the highest rated? Sure, you can do Oliver or Ray or Laurel or Kara. But I think they all kind of exist as extensions of the Flash empire. I think Vibe and Killer Frost might be on par with Ollie or Kara and Jay might be a cut above.
I think one thing working for Flash is how many costumed characters it has and how even its non-costumed characters have memorable costumed looks. They made a freaking plot point out of Iris' briefly used speedster costume with XS. Also, they have a Barry, Wally, Jay, Impulse, XS, Reverse Flash, Zoom, and Jesse Quick. Plus Vibe, Gypsy, and Killer Frost. Maybe it's not perfect but I don't think any live action property has had as much success with as many costumed characters. It runs circles around Fox's X-Men in terms of source material accuracy and runs circles around everything else in terms of volume. Sure, Jesse Martin cries too much and Tom Cavanagh goes from delightfully playing five roles to playing a dozen boring, ridiculous, bad, and maybe offensive ones before scaling it back to the best of them. Sure, Chester and Allegra bore me and strike me as less interesting than the actors who play them. Sure, Ralph Dibny's life and career ended because he tweeted stuff that was much tamer than what James Gunn tweeted. But Sue was pretty cool at least. Shame as I'd buy an Elongated Man figure.
By contrast, Arrow and Supergirl and Superman and Lois have a lot of characters not in costumes and it's generally poorly received when they get one like Diggle as Spartan or Jimmy as Guardian. (I think Steel and the few costumed villains we get on Superman and Lois are well received.)
Luke Wilson and Brec Basinger's STRIPE and Stargirl might rest mostly on being good toy designs by likable performers. I don't know how much of the Infinity Inc. derived versions of Hourman, Dr. Mid-Nite, and Wildcat people want but it's a fairly short leap to do them plus Shade and Eclipso.
If there's a market for a Joel McHale Starman (and I want that as a figure badly) then it's probably as a companion piece to Luke Wilson in a striped shirt and JWS' Jay Garrick. It'd be fun to mix them with comic versions of the JSA members (and Seven Soldiers of Victory including Green Arrow and Speedy) that we only see in paintings and photographs like Alan Scott Green Lantern, Spectre, and Johnny Thunder. It helps that the implied backstory is that they all looked like Alex Ross paintings of golden age comics.
We no longer live in the age of talking action figures so there's no fight as to whether the Thunderbolt should sound like Jim Gaffigan or Seth Green.

Re: DC General Thread
These arrived yesterday from Amazon and eBay.Hush Batman (blue & grey) - I couldn’t until March for this one so I bought one off eBay. The price was only $5 more than retail, but shipping was an extra $10. But I couldn’t wait for this one.
Gold Label Vampire Batman - this one was from a 3rd party seller on Amazon (CMDStore) but of the new wave of Gold Label figures this was the one I wanted most. And seeing I have had horrible luck finding all the past Walmart Gold Label figures other than Parallax I said let me grab it while it’s available.
Shazam Movie Figure - I got Shazam via Amazon with Prime, unfortunately mine suffers from a poorly painted face.

Page Punchers up today. Presumably the Nolan wave next week. So when do we get to see the Titans wave? Because soon, it’s gonna be an overwhelming wave of Flash figures and vehicles. And we’ve still not seen the second Shazam figure. Probably Helen Mirren’s character.

Yeah I wanna see Titans too. Only the Nolan wave stands in the way. This reminds me a bit of early 2021 when I was pumped for the 2 Capullo BAF series and some Death Metal....only to sputter with movie figures I couldn't care less about. It ended up being Spawn's Universe that got me excited the rest of the way.
After some early comic releases I think it's gonna be a lot of passes for me - but Spawn Wave 5 this Spring looks like the best yet. I will be glad to get the Speed Metal wave and Gladiator Batman however.

And in terms of live action, not that I’m buying them, but any word on the second Shazam figure? Anything at all concerning the Blue Beetle movie?
Re: DC General Thread
This year a lot of resources will be going into the Flash and Aquaman movies. Toy Fair isn’t until fall this year. San Diego Comicon will be too late show Flash stuff and perhaps a bit too soon to show Aquaman stuff. I’d look for more comic stuff middle of the year. There’s still more than a few interesting comic based rumors floating around out there. But Titans is my next big want.ditko wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 11:27 pmYeah I wanna see Titans too.
