MAFEX DC Comics Figures

Tue Mar 28, 2023 3:08 am

Yet another phenomenal release.

One thing about the Mafex comic line - what they solicit is usually what you get. The thigh swivel is a first for this line I believe? Wish they did it with Psylocke if they were going to go that route!

She was well worth the wait.

Anyone else not able to get more than a 100 degree bend at the arms? It’s probably the only disappointment for me. It looks like you should be able to bend it more than the figure is letting me.

Maybe so. None of the 30 or so I own have one, but they may only do it when they can hide it with sculpt and paint, and her shorts are ideal for that.

I hope it’s just because the shorts present the opportunity to have one disguised and not a general thing going forward. I’m not a fan of thigh swivels where they clearly break the look noticeably, especially where musculature is involved.

That aside, she looks great, I rather love the big, clompy boots.

In one of the Marvel Legends threads we're coincidentally also discussing the fact that Mafex figures usually have ankle rotation and that eliminates most of the need for upper-thigh cuts, but for whatever reason Medicom didn't give Psylocke their usual ankle rotation. I'm guessing Huntress also doesn't have the ankle rotation most figures usually have.

Medicom seems to do this most often on female characters. Not sure if that's due to an engineering limitation or if they're just cutting corners on the ladies. The Mafex Jean Grey has their usual ankle rotation, and as a result she's easier to pose than Psylocke and probably Huntress.

Damn, Huntress looks good. Didn't feel I cared enough about her as a character to spend the money, but kudos to those who did. Nice looking figure. Good job Mafex.

Is this their best female figure yet? She looks a lot more impressive than Jean Grey and Psylocke, both of which I find to be somewhat underwhelming.

She doesn't look better than Catwoman Hush, Dark Knight Rises Catwoman 2.0, or Harley Quinn Hush, but I don't have Huntress so I can't say for sure. I have all three of those in addition to Jean Grey and Psylocke and I agree those two X-ladies aren't as good as the DC ones I just mentioned.

Storm still looks like a strong contender for best Mafex female figure, but there are so many ways they could screw it up we'll have to wait and see.

She’s really good but I do think Hush Catwoman remains at the top IMO. I’m biased because I feel she is a more iconic character in overall DC universe and was integral in the Hush storyline. Mafex executed her flawlessly (except her whip started to come apart on me).

Nerdyscoundrel - the crossbow is from a GI Joe Scarlett figure.

Funny you all mention it but the DC comic figure releases have all just been top notch. Definitely better than the Marvel female releases but the male figures have been incredible too. I agree that Catwoman just barely edges out Huntress but you can make a case for both. Huntress’ cape, perfect headsculpt and overall deco was done flawlessly.

They certainly should add a thigh cut every time if they can hide it. Psylocke was certainly a candidate for it with the top leg straps being the perfect place for it.

Got both Huntress figures from Amazon Japan and Hobby Link Japan this afternoon. Fingers crossed that Nightwing is the next DC figure release.

Got Huntress today. Very cool figure but would prefer a regular non poseable cape.

Finally got the payment request from AmiAmi Should have her next week sometime.

I missed out on Hush Catwoman, I wasn't collecting Mafex back when she dropped. The rest have been sublime, however...really hoping they re-release her eventually!
