I think I need to see a trusted reviewer before I decide what I'm going to do with this. Damazing, erivera, Shartimus, Robo......under normal circumstances I'd make up my own mind, if this was $30 or even $50, I'd say screw it. But if I want to make my money back on this expensive figure, it's probably best to keep it sealed.

This is the toy world equivalent of a movie not being screened in advanced for critics out of fear of bad reviews.

Yeah that's what I thought to, no advance reviews or photos was already making me concerned about my order especially after the lack of any updates from Mezcojohnpike82 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 31, 2023 8:06 pmJAG2045 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 31, 2023 7:40 pmI'm honestly surprised Damazing hasn't gotten the figure yet to reviewyojoebro82 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 31, 2023 7:26 pmI'm seeing stuff that makes this figure look anywhere from "pretty good" to "total crap".

Re: Mezco Toyz One:12 Collective 6 inch DC figures
I haven't watched any reviews yet so I'm only going by pictures but from what I'm seeing, the figure is a disappointment. I'll take some of the blame since the figure was solicited three years ago and I felt Mezco was making sure this figure was perfect or close to it so that would explain the delay. I'm undecided on whether I'll keep him when Mezco eventually ships mine or sell it. I'll need to have him in hand before I make my decision.
I wish Mafex would do a 6 inch '89 or even '92 Batman or even Figuarts taking another shot at it.

Re: Mezco Toyz One:12 Collective 6 inch DC figures
Mafex would be the one that would provide the figure we've all been dreaming about for over 30 years.
Mezco's clearly isn't it. If McFarlane ever does the original Keaton suit, they've already proven they either no longer care or are no longer capable of capturing likenesses. I have the SHF version; it's tiny and the head sucks.
No, our only hope is Mafex. They've shown with Terminator and RoboCop they're willing to go back to 80s classics. But will they? Even if they do, we won't get a figure until 2025 at the earliest.

Re: Mezco Toyz One:12 Collective 6 inch DC figures
I am of mixed feelings. The fact that this isnt a slam-dunk after 3 years and spending over $100 for the figure is inexcusable and quite frankly a huge reason why I've moved on from Mezco.
That being said...I've already paid for the damn thing so I may just try and make the best of it. Has anyone got a reliable way to make the suit less grey? I saw someone suggest using silicon oil. Will that work or will it damage the bodysuit long term? I just want to get him in a decent pose and then stick him in a display case and hope for the best.
Worse comes to worse,I may cannibalize the heads and cape and some other parts and see if I can cobble something together using the McFarlane Flash figure.

Re: Mezco Toyz One:12 Collective 6 inch DC figures
Did anyone else get an email from Mezco? It’s FAQ and guide. Says the powder on the figure was added “ In order to prevent any interior packaging materials from sticking onto the figure” and it will wear off over time.
It also mentions the articulation:
“ Batman – 1989 Edition is designed with a seamless rubber body over articulated metal armature, at first the joints may seem tight, but with continued and careful use they will loosen. We recommend that you do not over flex or pull on the figure to prevent any damage to the armature or rubber body.
While posing your figure you may notice some minor misalignment occurs, this is due to the internal armature used for Batman – 1989 Edition. This can be adjusted by gently applying pressure to the articulated joint (for example: if the shoulders become misaligned, gently raise the arm perpendicular to the body and gently apply pressure to the shoulder.)”

It says right on the directions (which several youtubers ignored in their haste to be "first") to not put any kinds of solvents or anything on it.

You’d think they’d have included this info with the figure.

The best thing about this figure is the head sculpt, which I doubt any other company will ever beat in this scale.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJvOiMz2Ook Here is another Batman'89 review. This guy bitches about the grey rubbery body suit and the cape that doesn't stay flushed with the head piece ontop, yet shits on the Neca figure calling it "bootleg". I have seen literal bootlegs of the Neca '89 figure that still look better than Mez's. There is some real battered wife syndrome going on with the Mezco faithful.

This dude on Twitter got his looking pretty nice. I don’t know if it’s actually advisable to put that stuff on a silicon body, but the results are certainly there.

Re: Mezco Toyz One:12 Collective 6 inch DC figures
sigh. This is what I mean about being fed up with Mezco. That Armour All dude has the best looking one yet...but then everyone including Mezco says NOT to do that.
I also got the email from Mezco about "Hey...heres why its covered in grey dust and also heres how to play with your $120 toy that might break if you're not careful".
I havent gotten my figure yet and I honestly dont know what I'm going to do when it gets here. On the one hand,I just plan to stick him in a glass case with the Reeves Superman from Mezco so maybe that would look ok as a display. On the other hand, if McFarlane does wind up doing an 89 or Returns Bats I kind of feel like that would scratch the same itch and maybe I should try and sell my Mezco Bats as soon as I get him to get my money back.
Why couldnt Mezco have just made a decent figure that looked good and worked without trying something new? Why did it take them 3 years and theres still so many questions and so much drama around this figure? Its frustrating. I really, really want to like this thing and be ok with opening it and giving it a place in my collection, but not if its going to be non-stop headaches dealing with it for years to come.
