I didn’t play D&D. But I’m am thinking sone movie beasts created definitely are borrowing from D&D monster designs. The panther beast in Avatar has a striking resemblance to the Displacer. Beholders I’m sure have influenced lots of creepy floating head monsters with lots of tentacles. I have this natural inclination to find similarities. I’m sure it could be just coincidence. It is just interesting.

I ordered one of those Displacers. I’m going to keep an eye on the Owl Bears. Beholder creeps me out.

Ordered up that awesome beholder. He hits the nostalgia buttons pretty hard!

I feel like Hasbro cheaped out by not giving him some sort of flight stand though. I won't be easy to find one that will hold him, we'll have to probably make custom stands if we want him floating in the air.

I have a nephew that is crazy about D&D. Plays it regularly - actually has a D&D room in his house where he and his friends gather for their campaigns. He's young and broke and won't buy these... but I'm definitely thinking about buying him at least the Beholder for his room...

No flight stand for the beholder is a huge mistake, he's such a unique figure that it will be difficult to find something that works.

Glad they're making these, though. Now give me a mind flayer!

They can always include one with inevitable repaint to get people to double up lol

It is odd that Hasbro seems to be skipping flight stads for a lot of things that should probably have one. Serpentor's Air Chariot should have had one and it appears that the trouble bubble might not have one as well.

Just gonna throw this out there now, but an acrylic ball display stand should work perfectly for Beholder. They're pretty cheap on Amazon & available in many sizesImage

Nice, that looks like a decent solution. Maybe not as high as I would like him to float, but still will do the trick and look better than him sitting on his gold. Thanks for sharing that!

That's weird. The Brown Owlbear was supposed to be a Gamestop Exclusive with limited availability on Hasbro Pulse, but it just went up for pre-order on BBTS.

Yeah, that's my thing. I don't know if that acrylic stand would be much of an improvement over the pile of gold. I'd want something taller. I understand that Hasbro would have had to make an entirely new stand for that, but it would have made the price a little easier to swallow.

I might be in for Xanathar and the Owl Bear, although that's already 100 bucks. I'll have to give it some thought. I bought Drizzt without hesitation and then they hit the brakes immediately so I'm wondering what I'll really get out of this line.

Put that ball holder (*snicker*) on one of these (or whatever size is necessary, I just did a quick search):

Wish they weren't exclusive, since that really decreases the chances of seeing them discounted, but they really are awesome. Ordered the three monstahs already. They didn't put the two additional cast members up for preorder yet, right? I can't believe I'm going to go through the trouble , but I'm going to replace the Holga that broke right out of the package. Really hoping that was just a first wave problem cos Doric and Xenc look even better than Holga/Forge/Simon. (Wonder if they held back on Doric because they didn't want to reveal she was a tiefling too early on.)

I do agree with this. I pre-ordered one of each of the creatures because I like them. BUT I want to get a second Beholder for my nephew and I would buy multiples of the Owlbears if I could get them on sale. That discount pricing would be more likely somewhere like Target or Amazon. Pulse does one or two "inventory" sales per year, so I suppose if they have enough of these hanging around that will be an option, but we'd be much more likely to see sale prices if bigger retail partners were involved.
