Who has the Master License on these right now? McFarlane?
I would literally kill for Jada Toys to get the license for either the MK Trilogy or MK9
The MK3 Ninjas would be instant purchases, the ladies could finally get some much needed attention.
I still can't believe that we have never had a good Mileena figure.
Yeah, I echo this sentiment. One of my biggest wants in the hobby right now is for Jada to get the Mortal Kombat license and make 1/12 scale classic MK Trilogy figures that I can display with Jada Street Fighter.
I'm far more enticed by the prospect of a SF vs MK display than a Marvel vs. Capcom one.
I would love to get some good and affordable figures based on the original trilogy in 6 inch scale. I love Storm Collectibles' line, but they're really expensive and scale too large to go with most of my collection.
I'd love modern figures based on the 3D era games, like Deception and Shaolin Monks, or MK9 just as much too! I just think that the classic designs are the most likely since they're essentially evergreen and have a lot more repaint potential.
Regardless, I desperately want someone like Jada to snag the license to make some toys.
...for Jada Toys to get the license for either the MK Trilogy or MK9
I would love this too. I ditched McFarlane when they stopped producing MK and have been buying Storm Collectibles. I'd be perfectly happy to replace those with Jada Toys and save myself a lot of cash in the future.
Jada? Trilogy? A dream come true for every 90's kid.
As a kid, I played Trilogy so many more hours combined over any other MK game up to that point.
What would you guys consider to be characters definitive looks?
For me what I think of right away is,
- Sonya = MK3
- Kitana = MK9, 2, and 3
- Mileena = MK9, 2, and 3
- Jade = MK9, 2, and 3
- Tanya = Deception
- Skarlet = MK9 (and 2 and 3 Klassic Skins)
- Sindel = MK3
- Shao Khan = MK2
- Goro = MK1
- Johnny Cage = MK2
- Lui Kang = MK2
- Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Reptile = OG MK
- Rain, Ermac, Smoke, Noob Saibot = MK3
Shang Tsung = MK1, MK11 old Shang
Scorpion = UMK3/MK4, MK9
Sub-Zero = Deception main, Deadly Alliance alt, MK4
Quan Chi = MK4, Deadly Alliance
Jade = Deception alt
Kitana = MK2, Deadly Alliance alt
Mileena = Deception, UMK3
Noob = MK9, Deception alt
Johnny Cage = MK11 young Johnny, MK9
Shao Kahn = MK2
Sektor = MK3
Cyrax = MK3
Ermac = Deception, MK9 alt
Reptile = MK2, Shaolin Monks
Smoke = cyborg MK3, Deception alt
Havik = Deception
I could really go on
I'd get MK9 Smoke and Skarlet, and Deadly Alliance Nitara. That's probably it.
I actually dig A LOT of the reimagined designs for the fighters in the new Mortal Kombat 1 game. They're not too busy and overcomplicated. So if McFarlane Toys ever did figures for this (assuming Todd still has the license), I would be all in!
Other than that, I would DEFINITELY be down for Jada Toys to do Klassic Mortal Kombat. I was sold on them after seeing their Street Fighter 2 figures.
Give me Raiden, Liu Kang, Sub-Zero, Scorpion and Johnny Cage in their MK2 looks!
Honestly, I wouldn't buy anything from the new game. I was VERY excited for it but just felt very disappointed by the end of the game.
It'd have to be Klassic for most characters for me to feel the urge to buy them.
I wouldn't mind if McFarlane decided to make some figures based on the new game. I'd at least consider picking up Reptile, Sub-Zero, and Havik.
Now, if a new licensee decided to make figures based solely on the new game? Then I'd be a little bit more disappointed. I know we've gotten them from pretty much every line so far, but it'd still feel weird to have a new MK toyline without Hanzo Hasashi Scorpion and Thunder God Raiden.
I have a fairly sizeable collection of McF MK figures, but if Jada got the license I'd probably start selling them off in favor of 1/12 goodness! Don't get me wrong, I like the McF figures, but I feel like Todd hasn't gone as deep with the line as he should, and has focused way too much on repaints. Plus, I'd love to see some more "klassic" looks in figure form. I have no idea what the deal is with the rights at the moment...I do know that it's been a while since Todd released anything at all, so I'm inclined to think he no longer has the license.
All I want is Scorpion and Sub-Zero in their MK1 or MK2 costumes.
I'd prefer them in 1/12 scale, but if McFarlane can do then in 1/10 scale, I'd happily settle for those. I think I heard that McFarlane only had the license to MK11 and can't do any other game. But they had the classic costumes in that game as a DLC. And you'd think once they made one body, they could do easy repaints for multiple different ninjas.
The Storm figures look great, but I'm late to the game and not willing to spend HUNDREDS on a damn figure. I can't believe how much those sell for. If Jada could get the license, that would be ideal.
My only issue with McFarlane is his aversion to female figures. I definitely would want to get Sindel and Mileena from MK1, and I'm not sure he'd actually make them.
Other than that, I really need someone to make Kenshi. Fantastic redesign, and he's been a fave of mine since Deception back on the PSP.
