Looks like they got the license back from Hasbro.

$96 The Weeknd figure dropping next fall.
Well, I'm 50/50 on this. As someone who appreciated both the Jazwares and Hasbro lines of figures (1:12 scale), I'm glad someone has the license again, but 6.5"? I hope this ain't another Call of Duty mistake. The 6.5" scale works well with the Halo Spartan Collection since the Spartans are larger and match 1:12 scale. On the other hand, for those 6.5" Call of Duty figures, it's more like a 1:11 scale that doesn't really work with any other line.
The Weeknd is 5'8" IRL, so 6.5" is more like a 1:10-ish scale for this figure, which would probably work well with the previous 1:10 scale McFarlane Fortnite figures. For someone who primarily collects 1:12 scale figures, I wish Jazwares would stick with the original 1:12/6" measurements they used for their original Fortnite line. Fingers crossed that something good comes out of this.
I do not think they have the line back from Hasbro. I could be wrong, but it seems like the terms that TMNT may have had, meaning "you can sell the line if it is over x price point". This could also be a special one time dead. I would love them to get the 1/12 line back though. Still, I will not pay $96 for this.
LOL! A hundred bucks for a Weeknd action figure that, rightfully, should be 20 dollars at Walmart. For the sake of my faith in humanity I hope that thing rots in a warehouse until it's on clearance for 10 bucks.
Interesting that Jazwares is back at Fortnite, though. Hasbro seemed to really struggle with it, so I wonder if they just didn't renew/actively dropped the license and Jazwares picked it up again simply because it was a good seller for them before? I think a lot of the Fortnite hype has died by now, which is a large part of what hurt Hasbro (because the product was good), and I don't see this being the return to form that maybe Jazwares would like it to be. But I guess we'll see. Jazwares made a lot of great Fortnite figures, and it's cool to see this time they're dropping the articulated fingers.
Be interesting to see what happens besides the over-priced celebrity bullshit.
The Fortnite hype might actually be bigger than ever. It's been breaking player records the past few months. And every kid at the schools I go to talks about it in some capacity.
TBF it's not so much about the hype for the game. It's how much folks want figures of it. Like, Ghostbusters totally rocks when you offer cosplay stuff like the Haslab, but the figure audience seems much smaller.
Them going 6.5 scale makes me think this isn't Hasbro giving the license up so much as a new license has been made, either for a slightly different scale, price point, or content (given the choice of figure). I'm certain the cost is at least in part to make up for added fees to use the Weekend's likeness. Because of that the price seems high, but not entirely baseless. That won't make me buy it, of course, but I can at least envision how they got there.
Could it be that McFarland has got out the game, so Jazwares is filling in that slot on licensing since, if I remember right Jazwares had the 4 inch scale, Hasbro 6 and McFarland 7.

I wasn't clear about what I meant. I don't think the game itself necessarily matters. I meant the -toy collector- hype for Fortnite stuff. There was definitely a moment in time there when lots of us were just like 'this stuff is so fuckin' crazy, I have to have it!'
I'm sure ever-increasing prices have something to do with it, but whatever the reason is the general excitement around Fortnite toys definitely seems to have cooled a lot. But that is why I called out that Jazwares did do a lot of great figures for the brand, so maybe them being back on board will get collectors hyped again? I don't know. It -seemed- like things were fizzling a bit even before Hasbro picked up the license and then it really seemed to just go absolutely nowhere.
Not sure there's still a strong market for this stuff, regardless of how popular the game might be.
I think the major thing is that Jazwares is a much smaller company than Hasbro is, so their profit margins are likely quite different. A successful line for Jazwares might end up being a dud for Hasbro, or at the very least not profitable enough to be worth continuing.
Is it maybe an issue where the demand isn't there with modern video game figures?
The Overwatch line didn't seem to do that great. Plus when Jazwares had the Fortnite line the first time it's not like the figures were flying off the shelves.
Late to the party but just bought Mancakes, gonna do a major repaint on him though. more like the 'Man with no name' colors.
Interesting, 6.5" maybe is them trying to split the difference between McF and Hasbro, to fudge it to fit into either line? Because the McF and Hasbro don't work great together in many instances (sort of like Legends and Select - you can fudge it for some but not others).
Reaction to the Fortnite Hasbro line was weird, I thought it was some of their best stuff in years in terms of sculpts, paint, value... I got into it even though my own interest in Fortnite is limited, I just thought many of the designs were great toys.
But as noted, this assumes this isn't a one-off deal just for The Weeknd, because they certainly can't be launching a $100 figure line. I wonder if this will be sold at his shows - concert merchandise is always absurdly priced...
According to this Hasbro has the license til 2026. They did a one off of Travis Scott a couple of years back as well didnt they? This is probably like that. Limited one off release.

Hasbro made a Travis Scott NERF gun. Jazwares made the 12" figure 2-pack box set.
It would be great if Hasbro continued with the line, but with the leaked figures being scrapped entirely, I'm just not sure if that's gonna happen.
Hello, I wasn't sure whether to post this in the TMNT forum or the Video Game forum, so I hope this is cool:
I admit to NEVER having played Fortnite and not knowing anything about the game, but these new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles designs are solid.
One thing that I hope we get out of this is some new figures.
