Jakks Pacific is expanding beyond Sonic the Hedgehog with figures from other SEGA IPs! I am so freakin excited, looks like they'll be 1/15-1/18 scale, not quite clear. So far, we know of Axel from Streets of Rage and Werewolf from Altered Beast.

Good news: This series of SEGA figures is likely due to the new wave of games revisiting classic SEGA titles, all of which were announced late last year. These franchises included Crazy Taxi, Golden Axe, Jet Set Radio, Shinobi, and Streets of Rage, so we'll likely see some figures based on Golden Axe, Jet Set Radio, Shinobi, and Crazy Taxi. They also recently filed trademarks for After Burner, Altered Beast, Alex Kidd, Kid Chameleon, Outrun, House of the Dead, and Super Monkey Ball, so the possibilities are endless.

Bad news: These figures are Walmart exclusives. Out of all places.

Ew, Walmart exclusives!  That aside...

This is exciting.  Werewolf looks like a really fun figure.  Really hoping for Super Monkey Ball toys!  This is very 16-bit so far but Dreamcast was more my speed so I'd love to see some obscure SEGA classics eventually, namely 3" toys of Space Channel 5 aliens and Chu Chu Rocket.

AiAi from Super Monkey Ball is next up!

@vicious7171 You got your wish! (as did I) 8 points of articulation for this guy. So the theory that the line will just be retro IPs is out the window, given that AiAi is a modern design and Super Monkey Ball in itself is from the 2000s (GameCube).

My trademark theory still holds up, given that Super Monkey Ball was in the recently filed trademarks (i.e., Crazy Taxi, Golden Axe, Jet Set Radio, Shinobi, After Burner, Alex Kidd, Kid Chameleon, Outrun, House of the Dead). Also, Samba de Amigo had a game recently, so hopefully Amigo will be shown soon! 🪇 And still holding out hope for an official NiGHTS figure at last...

5 days ago (Wed): Axel (Streets of Rage) revealed
3 days ago (Fri): Werewolf (Altered Beast) revealed
Today (Mon): AiAi (Super Monkey Ball) revealed

Prediction: Fourth/final figure of Wave 1 revealed this Wed

So it's just AiAi, Werewolf, and Axel Stone for now for Wave 1. Depending on the success of the line, they may continue to do more characters.

I've been clamoring for that Altered Beast werewolf figure for YEARS, but in 1/12 scale.

Happy it's happening for the 1/18 fans, but I'll be skipping this line for the first wave at least,

I definitely want these in 1/12, but I'm happy it's happening at all. Will go well with the upcoming 1/18th Capcom arcade offerings

I doubt my picks would get made, but I desperately want Joe Musashi, Luke Custer, Mew, and maybe some Virtua Fighter.

@protozoalord Actually, Shinobi is one of many games from the new wave of games revisiting classic SEGA titles, which were announced late last year. Joe Musashi is very likely.

I need 1:12 sized Pudding, Pine, and Evila to go with my Figma Ulala. Get to it, Jakks!

  • The werewolf looks crappy but I'm in for any Altered Beast, Golden Axe, House of the Dead figures.

Man, new pictures today of upcoming figures from this line for Weredragon from Altered Beast and  Roo from Streets of Rage -  and I swear if these were in a 6 inch or 7 inch format they would be utterly irresistible for me.

I swear that Weredragon would have to be mine if it weren't in a 4" format.    And frankly the Kangaroo with boxing gloves looks pretty well done as well.     I guess I should be thankful that this isn't something I have to spend money on, but really -  I want that dragon done as a bigger figure.   I really wish they weren't committed to the four inch scale.

OK... whatever - that doesn't make it better - they aren't big enough for me.   Although multiple sites seem to reference to them as a 4 inch line - which is why I called them that.

The article I first read says:

"The two newest additions to the Jakks Pacific SEGA action figure line have finally been released online. Like the first wave, these figures are Walmart Exclusives. In-stock availability may be limited to certain regions, so check the pages often if you don’t see them in-stock. Included are the Altered Beast – Weredragon 4″ Figure, and the Streets of Rage – Roo 4″ Figure. They are priced between $9.99 and $11.99 each (price seems to be fluctuating by region). See additional info, photos, and links below."

Notice the multiple references to 4" multiple times.

I know it is mind boggling because one can clearly see they are taller when you look at them up close in the store.

so for us 1/18th scale collectors the beasts would be alright but the human figures are giants

I think I will take a tape measure with me next time & take pics

they are much closer in size to Super Powers figures
