Let's start a thread for this line...DreadBear (5 1/2" inches)...Birthday present from my niece
Β
Been wanting to get into this line a bit just because I think some of the designs are cool and would go great on my horror shelf, but there's not a super easy way to catch up for those of us who missed the early offerings, it seems. I don't play the games and only know bits of the lore (my niece is a mega fan and has filled me in on things- another reason why I wouldn't mind getting a few figures is so I can be a cool uncle), so I really only want the main animatronics from the first couple games since they've become so iconic- the main 4, Springtrap, and maybe the Marionette (the latter 2 I know are BAFs, which poses another problem). I really like the look of the withered versions of the main 4, so they'd probably be my preferred versions, but they seem pretty hard to come by.
Here in NY, our Five Below stores are all sitting on a slew of tie-dye Chica, and occasionally one other tie-dye character, but that's it. Even when I go home to Kansas, most stores are sitting on a ton of the Statue of Liberty Chicas, and a couple of the brighter, 80's inspired characters that I don't really have an interest in. I did get Dreadbear a while back since I like the look of him, but that's it. Every now and then I'll pop into a GameStop or Newbury Comics and see one from another series, but it's a later game that I don't know anything about, and they're always priced up a bit. Every so often I'll see one of the withered ones or the BAFs on ebay, but they're often broken or priced too high. I know AliExpress offers some as well, but I never hear good things and hear they break super easily.
With how popular the franchise seems to still be, I'm surprised Funko isn't putting out more re-issues of the first couple waves. I know they're keeping product on the shelves with stuff from the newer games, so good on them, but especially with the movies now being a thing, I'd think keeping characters from those first couple games stocked would be a priority.
Good point, they should re-release the 'nightmare versions' which are the ones you are talking about.
