Not much to contribute just yet, just making sure there's a dedicated thread. Latest news is the toy colors Optimus Prime from MP44. Though that may have been made redundant by the more recently announced Missing Link offerings, which is an update to the original G1 mold aesthetic with loads of new articulation and features. Toy version (with trailer and painted sticker deco) and toon version (no trailer, no sticker deco) coming soon.

For me, it's just the long wait for Hoist at this point.  Though I think we'll be seeing more G1 soonish, with next year being the 40th anniversary.

I've been very curious about Masterpiece Transformers and saw 44S as a sign I should finally try it out.

Looks pretty cool, unless you guys know something I don't.

I overpaid a lot for MP44. It’s definitely a great figure but I almost wish I had held off because I didn’t necessarily want to pay the expense of the trailer. The trailer itself is very nice, also an upgrade from MP10. But it just sits in the back of my display basically as a figure stand.

Also, there are at least three great third party alternatives to MP44 that some have said are even better. I have all three: Transform Element Op Leader, and the two Magic Square offerings. All of them are great, and much more affordable than 44.

I still have the new MP44 preordered, but not sure if I’ll keep it.

And yes, I too am ready for Hoist. But also, let’s start getting the mini Autobots going. It’s silly that we only have Bumblebee.

Wasn't Cliffjumper around the corner?
I think Trainbot #5 is due soon. I had to get it from TF Source as I missed the Japan pre-order window. Strange it costs less ordering from Japan even with shipping.

Pulse sent shipping notice for MP Hoist! TFSource got it in earlier this week. Looking forward to replacing my MMC version.

So my Hoist arrived yesterday. To prepare, I took down my Mastermind Creations Hoist and, and as I do when I retire a figure that's been replaced, I transform it one last time. Of course, first thing I did was accidentally break one of his "wings" off, so after taking an hour to remember how to convert him, I got him into repair truck mode, and was able to repair him. Not overly complicated to transform, just a puzzle to remember.

The official Masterpiece Hoist is far less of a puzzle. He feels strangely light, for a package that felt hefty and a character that's depicted as portly. He's mostly hollow in the torso, which I guess I didn't pay attention to when I got MP Trailbreaker. He has some other mold differences, most noticeablely the legs and backpack. Aside from that, his transformation in general seemed very simple. I guess I didn't notice that either on Trailbreaker. Definitely not challenging, certainly instinctual.

One of the first things I noticed was in his vehicle mode in the package. He seemed incomplete, the door windows and part of the roof seems to be missing/incomplete. Like he's a pickup truck with T-tops. I thought, strange choice, but maybe they're separate pieces in the box? Nope. I checked the photography on the package, and lo and behold, this is what they intended. And I don't know why. I did a most basic image search, and at least one animation model depicts this omission as accurate. I'd have to look up stills or something to really confirm. Or defer to one of you experts, maybe sepster, though I know animation models isn't his bag.

He comes with a decent number of accessories, including an alternate face plate, an extra right fist (he has the gun barrel in place directly from factory) some kind of mallet extension for that same arm, an alternate grill with flat gray instead of chrome, a claw similar to the one Grapple comes with, a wrench, a blast effect, and for the first time I can remember with an official release, the alien face mask from the Autobots' time as movie extras. (Did Sunstreaker come with one? Oops, yes he did. Strike the last comment from the record.)

I guess the most satisfying aspect to Hoist is that he completes the season 2 Autobot "deluxe class" cars. He looks great with Grapple, and fills out the roster of Inferno, Red Alert, Smokescreen, Tracks, and Skids. Just Mirage and Jazz to go for the season 1 guys. I appreciated the complexity of MMC Hoist a little more than the basic conversion of MP Hoist, but the quality of MMC leaves enough to be desired that I still consider this one an upgrade.

Just saw the new MP-44 Masterpiece-Toy color version but i think the listing/measurements are wrong? it says 5.7 for height? the width says 8.6? that could be wrong cause usually the MP prime is 9.6", rite?

It sounds like MP-60 Powermaster Optimus Prime will be the last Masterpiece as we know it, as the 100th in the series counting exclusives and repaints. It will go forward with the rebranding Transformers MPG.

Don't know if this is the spot to discuss MPM as well (I know the Bayverse is still a point of contention for many). But just in case, I got in MPM Brawl the other day, and he's a beauty. For some reason, he was always maybe my least favorite of the 07 Decepticons, which is ironic; he's arguably the most toyetic and, as a tank, is THE prototypical design for a militaristic bad guy or fighter character, but the old toys just didn't do it for me. The other Decepticons and their designs just seemed so much more unique and cool.

That said, I really really dig this one. I had the old Leader Class Brawl back in the day and quite liked it, but this one is, of course, just a lot more well made and cool-looking. I love that they started including some blast effects and damaged parts with the last few figures; really adds some dynamism to the display. Feels really good to finally have the complete 07 roster (minus Frenzy- I'm bummed they never got around to him, especially since I could never track down the DNA upgrade kit one)

I'm not up to date with Transformers news, but I do hope there's plans to continue into the other movies. I know we got ROTF Starscream and DOTM Ratchet, both of whom I still need to try and track down, but man are they pricey. I'd love a Sideswipe, at the very least. Say what you will about the Bay movies (I certainly do- I grew up with them, so they hold a special place in my heart as guilty pleasures but I recognize that they just get progressively messier), but man, the robot designs are so cool and intricate, and the fact that they finally managed to capture them all so well in figure form is just so cool.

@normdapito, for those of us interested in starting a Transformers collection, can you give any details about this MPG line?
