Damn it.
I was all set to pass on a Primus, but this one is a must have for me.
Also the price is pretty good as well, but I would have preferred closer to $200.
Guess I'll have to start tracking this one as well.
Right now it is at 2,207.
I imagine it will reach the goal fairly quickly, and all the stretch goals should unlock as well.
Thank God that's five piles of ugly-as-all-hell.
Easy pass. To me, it looks kinda cheap. Lack of detail? Paint? I don’t know. I still have the original RID versions and I’m pretty happy with that.
Thrilled to see this as it's not something that means anything to me so I can give my wallet a much needed break.
Ultra Magnus looks like one of those guys who got leg lengthening surgery
I'm in for it. Like others I'd have preferred something closer to $200, but I'm impressed with everything packed into it.
I’m not interested in this one, but I am sure it’ll fund. TF fans love TFs.
I absolutely love Robots in Disguise, it was the first Transformers series I actually got into, and this looks amazing, but... I just can't justify dropping that much in one go on a TF toy. Wouldn't have been as good, but I wish they had just updated Optimus as a retail release like they have been doing with the other iterations of the character. Others will disagree because of the effort they're clearly putting into this, but to me making him as a limited-time Haslab just oddly feels like a bit of a slap in the face to RID fans.
Am I misremembering this, or didn't they at one point say they wouldn't make Optimus a Haslab?
Well back to the grind of daily tracking a Haslab. Surprised they did one so early in the year, but I think that is a good idea. Spread them out more over the course of the year instead of trying to cram them all in to the last quarter.
Here we go.....
Omega Prime:
4,857 / 10,000 (less than 24hr into the first day)
48.57% of funding goal with 43d 16h left.
A good start. I thought it might be farther along than half way by now. However this should cross the finish line no problem. It is a Prime and one that hasn't been redone since the original (not counting 3rd party or the terrible Encrore reissue).
Also now that it is a Haslab this will probably be the only time we get this toy for another 10+ years.
Am I misremembering this, or didn't they at one point say they wouldn't make Optimus a Haslab?
They meant the good version of Optimus 😉
@sepster I did have a good chuckle when Evan mentioned that during the livestream. I like Evan because he is both self aware about things he mentions and products they reveal during livestreams, and he doesn't seem to take things too seriously when something doesn't go as planned.
I guess we shouldn't take the word of a designer, or even marketing manager (B-Mac) as fact. Not meant as a slight to Evan or B-Mac, but rather they aren't the ones making the final decisions and I'm sure those above them wanted something more likely to fund during the 40th anniversary so they went with a Prime. One that probably wouldn't be high on the release schedule for Hasbro (though a fire truck Optimus would probably be a good seller in my opinion).
@canprime I only watched a short part of the launch video, what was it that Evan mentioned?
Evan admitted he said Optimus would never be a Haslab and said he was wrong. He owned up to it.
I developed a desire for a Primus, or really just Cybertron. I would like background sets for Origins Wheeljack and more as well as....well shit it's CYBERTRON. I wasn't looking forward to the pricetag, but would have made it work.
This is not at all what I wanted, but I do like a lot of it, it's fun. 50/50 I back. Powermaster Optimus and GodBomber better get made this good now. It sucks though because I like the idea of HasLab as a way to make more niche items rather than making obvious sellers, just done better.
