I hope we get a re-tooled Pumyra, maybe as a continuation of the LJN classic toy versions. Now that they are taking these to retail, recreating some of the original releases would be a good way of getting the main characters out again. They could do a corrected Tygra with WilyKat, Cheetara with Wilykit like back in the day.

Wow... Super7 really must have ramped down production to "made to order" levels - the way they always said they would, but clearly never did previously.   I am surprised that they sold through at most retail outlets already.

The good news(?) is that the old Mattel version has dropped in price a lot now -  it's going for less than $60 on Ebay now,  which is about half of what people want for the Ultimates version.

If the cheaper carded releases perform well at retail then there's a chance Kit and Kat could get another release that way in the future?

Jesus Christ. You just can't ever tell with Super7. The Mirror Lion-O was pretty nice, as far as S7 figures go. And I believe the 'toy colors' Lion-O was met with decent praise, or at least approval. Seemed like Super7 was on track to get out a truly superior Lion-O figure than anything we've gotten before. And then they just shit out an absolutely terrible figure and I do not understand. Why do they keep failing to improve? Why is every step forward from them met with eighteen steps backward?
It's absolutely fucking bizarre.
Imagine if Hasbro put out the new Astonishing Wolverine figure and then immediately followed it up with a figure that looks like their original Ultimate Wolverine. I just don't get it.

I mean... KD,  you have to take your hat off to the marketing savvy here...  how do you convince people the $55 Ultimates price is still worth paying when you have a $35 retail option for what amounts to essentially the same figure?    You make the cheaper figure even shittier -  duh...

I had WilyKat on PO at BBTS, but canceled him thinking I'd get him later at a cheaper price like I have pretty much all the others. You never can tell lol

I hadn't been paying attention to the Mattel version, how does that one compare to the Ultimates Kat? Did they use the old Mattel molds on those too?

The Mattel versions hold up pretty well -  the colors are a little "muddier" - maybe just more muted.   S7's Kat is an all new sculpt -  he's smaller and brighter than the Mattel version:

Super7 no longer had access to any of the old Mattel molds so anything that comes out now is newly sculpted by Super7 and not recycled.

That's why the newer Lion-O is different from Super7's first release.   Super7's original figure was just reuse of the Mattel tooling.   The new version is all new tooling.

Still,  if you don't want to pay $100 plus for Wily Kat -  maybe you can wait things out and see if demand and price drops somewhat - or you can pick up the older Mattel version which still mostly works

Thank you for the info, I remember Super7 used reuse at some point but I wasn't sure when it stopped. I kind of prefer the Super7 based on that pic there, so perhaps I'll wait it out for a bit and see. Thanks!

Just saw the deluxe Lion-O at Target. Yeesh. Agree with the majority of the thoughts already shared on here, and I still planned on buying it if I ever saw one, most likely to keep on card. Well, they had two Lion-O and one Monkian on the shelf. Lion-O is an absolute mess. Not sure how they messed up this figure so bad. Paint colors are horrendous. His skin is pink! Couldn’t bring myself to buy one. Super7 really dropped the ball with this one, and I say that as a pretty big fan of their product.

Got street dated for the "deluxe" Lion-O at Target. They refused to hold it for me until 10/1...

Sounds like exactly how street dates work.
I didn't realize the deluxe figures even had street dates. Honestly, didn't even realize toy companies were doing that anymore. Seems silly.

@theknightdamien There is no reason for this to be street dated, but it is what it is I guess.

They just claimed they couldn't hold something for more than 24 hours...which is just made up, there is no actual corporate policy pertaining to that.

Definitely not the end of the world, but frustrating that I had it in my hands and then *poof* gone!

...they swiped it from me like it was the holy grail 😮

If I know something I've found is street dated, I'll hide it somewhere I can pick it up later. That works in theory, but I only ever find out something is street dated if I try to check out with it. Then they swoop in and confiscate it. And it ruins my day.

@normdapito That is actually not a bad idea HA.

I was able to finally pre-order one, so one way or another I'll eventually get it...

It's 10/1 today - so I'm going to see if I can find one later.
