So apparently Super7 is partnering with Target for their Fall Geek Out and releasing Lion-O and Monkian Ultimates figures with one accessory and no alternate heads on card back as Target exclusives for $35 each.

Lion-O is already pre-sold out,  but Monkian is still available at the $35 price.    That's and interesting swerve for them.     I'm going to be honest,  I wouldn't hate seeing this line get a second, cheaper bite at the apple on some of these for fodder.     These ones aren't labeled as "Ultimates" because they don't have all the accessories and extra heads.   But it's the same figures.

This is very interesting to me.    I am curious to see if Super7 expands this type of offering to any of their other brands  -  and if these two sell well enough if they keep cranking out more of the Thundercats characters in this style offering.

I missed out on the Lion-O preorder, but I'll hopefully be able to pick him up at some point.  I'm hoping these pop up in stores.   I am curious to see what the new Lion-O body is like.

I passed on the light up eyes Lion-O purely for the fact that i'd never use the light up feature. He'd look ridiculous in the display with just yellow lenses for eyes. I did think about painting eyes in but looking at the actual figure from pictures at SDCC, that didnt seem very viable because of how the lenses are implemented. I was surprised to see this "regular" version with painted eyes the night before preorders went up and jumped on it despite it not having the extra head and accessories. To me, it has all the necessary things  I'd use for the display. I don't really need any of the extra hands and swords because I'd always display him with the long sword and wearing the claw shield. The only thing I'd want is the extra angry head. So for 35 bucks this was a no brainer for me. I just hope the paint apps are good and it actually looks like the renders. Their silverhawks line was massively disappointing but i may need to get a cheap Quicksilver fig if I can find one just to go along with Lion-O. Supposedly it comes out in October so at least the wait isn't so long.

I think they will be on store shelves -  I think that's the point of the partnership and they have been able to get Reaction on to the shelves.    I'm hopeful that at this price point these will move, at least at first and this gives them a new avenue to keep releasing and getting more figures out.

I read that Lion-O is actually an all new sculpt. I want one but missed the PO.

Yeah... So, the pre-order was kind of sneaky, I feel like...  I'm on Super7's mailing list and didn't know this was happening.   I saw the news on Facebook after Lion-O was already sold out.

Was this announced somewhere ahead of time and I missed it?    Like I said, I'm hopeful these are findable on store shelves and it's just the limited pre-orders that sold thru...   hopefully it's not like the ML Warbird scenario.

One actual nice thing about these is that they are priced just above Target's free shipping threshold instead of one penny below - so you can order one figure and it qualifies for free shipping.

Nothing I hate worse than ordering a figure and missing the free shipping threshold by one penny or ten cents or something and having to order some other cheap nonsense to qualify.

I preordered both of them right now, about 4pm est.  I'm conflicted on these because I felt like I was done with S7.

I follow on Twitter - but the new algo pushes so much right wing garbage into my feed it must have got buried.   So yes, but I didn't see anything about it.

Oooh... it's back up and available again.   Just got a pre-order in.

Stoked, as I wanted to check out the new body but did not want the weird light up eyes gimmick.

Confirmed it's available on target right now. I woke up at 6am because i saw an IG story about it at like 3am lol. It wasn't the main site but i had to order it through the mobile app. This really came out of nowhere. I ordered 2 so i'll take whichever one has the better paint apps because i'm not too sure how their QC is. I'll return the other so someone is bound to find one in store eventually haha

I follow @preternia, but I didn't know about these figures until late last night.  I set my alarm to wake up but I must have done the math wrong on what time to wake up (west coaster here), and I missed out on Lion-O.

Lion-O did pop up as available again, so I put an order in for him.

He's obviously using the same new body as the light-up eyes figure.  Was that figure actually available at SDCC or just a preorder?  Will this Target version actually wind up in hands before the light-up eyes one?

I gave up Twitter when an ignoramus bought it but Preternia also does Discord and he is the only thing I follow on there so I turned on push notifications so when Discord goes off I know it is him.

Looks like the possible "name" for these is going to be Deluxe.   Not sure that a $35US figure with one, or two accessories could be classified as deluxe.

Nice to see some figures getting a second release through this format.   However I wonder what this will mean for both this new offering and the original Ultimates.   I both happy, and pissed, that Lion-O is the new mold.   Happy because I can get the new mold for a cheaper price, but not happy that I paid the Ultimates price for the old mold.

I get it, that is the way these things go.

Also I wonder what this means for the behind the scenes situation at Super7.   There was that Reddit rumour earlier this year(?) about how the new investors at Super7 were sidelining Brian's decision making to some degree and now this new price point offering, combined with the new TMNT articulation, seems to further point to other hands in the pot.   I wonder what else we could see from Super7 in the coming year.

Here's the thing for me about these "Deluxe" figure releases.    The Ultimates line is running out of steam in terms of unique characters to be able to release -  ESPECIALLY in terms of viable main character options.

This "Deluxe" format gives them a way to get the main characters back into circulation, re-offered, and maybe open the door to a few more people being tempted by the auxiliary characters offered in the Ultimates line?

I am hopeful that there is still enough momentum to finish the Lunataks at least...  I would love if they could expand the offerings to include some characters - maybe even in a more Ultimates/Filmation style but characters from the 2011 series to expand the roster
