Scarfed 2x of the Hammond Metriacanthosaurus with Target's BOG1/2 sale to get them for $33 total. Nice critters, not too big to get unwieldy but plenty big enough to be scary for 18ths.
Yea I almost bit on the babies, but for the most part I'm done with that. I bit on the smallish triceratops and mostly regretted it. I may buy baby stegosaurus mostly because it's one of my favorite species, and those back plates look cute on a small version. Large dinosaurs are mostly remarkable for being large, so I want fully-grown versions of the major species.
I also don't want one of every single species when multiple species look quite similar. Irritator was too much like baryonyx so I skipped it. Mamenchisaurus looks so much like ceratosaurus that I barely see the point. Same with corythosaurus, too much like parasaurolophus--although I still kinda want one just to get a herd of herbivores going.
Hammond Collection Dimetrodon is really looking nice. A big step up from the Legacy version (as they often are). Hope to see the Pyroraptor get the same treatment soon too!
I did finaly see Baby Rex in stores yesterday. It looked totally fine; definitely looks a little better in person than in the promo shots, and didn't seem as derpy as the Amber version. Didn't pick it up yet, even with the Target promo coupon going on right now. Saving my money for all the other cool releases coming up.
I spotted the juvenile Tyrannosaur and Stegosaurus at Target yesterday. I did not pick up.
Holy sh**, that was fast! I just got a shipping notice for Wu!
I ordered Wu, but can't say I am that impressed with the likeness (might be hard to get at that scale).
However, I doubt they revisit him, and he is the last main character we really need from the first film, so why not.
Holy sh**, that was fast! I just got a shipping notice for Wu!
Good to hear. Was curious if it was actually in-stock or not. I've had so many pre-orders delayed or cancelled lately I need some kind of exclusive online order win. Ordered mine.
Ordered one as well. I knew I'd regret it if I didn't. No shipping notice yet, but I'm sure I'll get one soon. Didn't even realize until I was reading the description afterward that there's lights and phrases integrated into the box. I'll still probably take them out (blasphemy, I know), but maybe I'll keep the box around.
I'd still gladly take a sequel trilogy Wu. You never know. They just announced a set with Barry after all these years.
@tenime They were in the Kitchen set, but yes I guess if being specific to Hammond Collection, Tim and Lex are AWOL. I blend the two lines for the humans...
Ah, yeah, I'm trying to replace my Legacy WITH Hammond (very thankful for the Dimetrodon reveal!).
I blend all my figures too. When a better version of a human or dino comes out they get replaced in the collection. Getting Barry and a JW Owen is great. Out of all the dang Owen's we've gotten I'm surprised the JW version was never done.
Got my shipping notice this morning. That's great!
Wu arrived this morning - as usual, the packaging is pretty nice, like the "sexy" Ian and the Arnold sets, with the mini-diorama, lighting and quotes from the film. The quotes alternate between Wu and Mr DNA, I would have liked to run though one set then the other, but really won't use it.
I wasn't paying close enough attention to the preview pics but the stand that holds the dino egg is cardboard, not plastic, so was a little disappointed by that. Not sure if I will display the whole package, I might break it apart to just have the base (also cardboard) and stand and maybe repurpose the lab doors for a back wall.
Mr. DNA is pretty cool, compared to the film I think some of his clear parts should be white, but not going to quibble. He's just a statute but was expecting that.
Wu is OK, doesn't capture BD Wong to me all that well, but it can be hard to get the likeness right on people in this scale at times. If you just look at the figure without context, he would be hard to place, but I think with Hammond and the main three, it will be clearer.
For those of us lumping Legacy and Hammond together, this completes the original JP 1 cast of any consequence. I suppose you could ask for Dodgson given his eventual role in the last film, but I am glad we got Wu even if not perfect.
Good lord, that was fast.
