For what it's worth, 5K says they're fine since they ship stuff to their US warehouse with UPS or FedEx or DHL.

Looks like it's already been reversed. Somebody seems to have made the very clever observation that the mob that would form outside the halls of power in response would be large enough to crush everyone into paste through sheer inertia.

Crisis averted for now. Most of my 1/12 comes from 5K, but I have open 1/6 preorders in HK stores. It seemed like COVID didn't force some HK stores, like Robot Kingdom to offer alternative shipping options. I'm not sure why they didn't switch to DHL or FedEx, unless they eventually did. I started going DHL during the COVID years for shipping from Japan.

I was reading earlier that Das Fuhrer revoked the "de minimis" provision, which (unless I'm mistaken) means that the threshold for import taxes/duties is no longer an $800 value, but now applies to all parcels (in addition to the 10% tarrif) arriving from China.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, I don't wish to give false info. But it's how I interpreted the NY Times article I read earlier https://www.nytimes.com/2025/02/04/business/usps-china-de-minimis.html

So the halt may be over, but the situation most certainly isn't - at least for anyone who orders often. I live in WA State and I've personally never been charged an import fee, and I've never been contacted by customs requesting anything because my purchases are rarely over $250, let alone $800. It sounds like now I will charged those fees, plus an extra 10% for my time.

"Elections have consequences", indeed.

@therealsmallville yes Preternia had posted someone had gotten a notice from DHL that they owned $30ish in import fees on an order from overseas so it is apparently happening.

Wow. Awesome

This is definitely going to cut down on purchases I make...a lot of things I buy are impulse purchases, "oh hey that looks cool" type of of purchases. If we're going to get hit with import fees on top of the 10% tariff, that's going to end that. My wallet will be happy, I suppose.

5K has warehouses in the US, but they still have to import their stock and won't be able to circumvent the value rule anymore. Then add 10%. Places like BBTS, who already adjust prices up according to supply/demand, will pass along the same to us. It's going to get expensive very quickly. Not prohibitively for most of us, I would imagine, but enough that it will cause most of us to pause and really reflect on how bad we want that plastic human from China. Unless these companies route them elsewhere, of course, though that could also become more expensive.

I won't be making any impulse purchases from overseas for the time being.

I'll be waiting to see how all this plays out over the next couple months (years?).

Anyone know the company that's making the newest Batman Arkham and Bale Dark Knight figures?  I know it's a Chinese K/O company?  They look very cool, like 1/12 scale Hot Toys etc.

Not sure if these are the ones you're looking for but there's some by InArt and a company called LPZZ.

Yes, that's it.  Thank you.  Are they 1/12 or 1/6, I seem to find varying claims, as their Joker was a 1/6 doll?

They normally do 1/6 but these are 1/12. I think they're the first 1/12 figures they've made

Between this and Mezco, I don't understand the insect fascination at all. To each their own, I guess.

Gomez is Mezco's mascot, so all the various One:12 figures they've done line up with him being their "front man" as it were.
