It looks Mcfarlane is also stepping back into the ring

It will be very interesting to see what they come up with. Will they pick up with the 5" line, continue with their 7" color tops figures. Or something altogether new?
I guess that Rick/Michonne show is stirring up some interest again.

i would totally get those DST if they were color.
I don't care who does them. I just want 1/10 scale zombies
I'm admittedly a bit excited for McFarlane's return to the line. They were definitely THE company for TWD figs back in the day. I remember even at the time, the articulation for the figures was really something special for the company (after the first couple series, that is). They covered most of the main characters from the early seasons, including a couple variants, so I can't be mad at them. But it does feel like they stopped right around the height of the show, leaving a lot of big characters and variants undone.
While I'd love a continuation of the 5 inch line, I feel like these are gonna be more in line with the DC Multiverse figures and aimed at the spin-offs, at least at first. And of course I can't blame him for that- those are what's most popular right now. 7 inch, super articulated Walking Dead figures would certainly be awesome, especially some of the more interesting Walkers. I'd love a good 7 inch figure of all the main cast- Rick, Michonne, Daryl, Carol, Maggie, and Negan. Those are, currently, the only human figures I really expect. Maybe a villain here and there. Seeing which Walkers he chooses to do will be interesting as well.
All in all, I'm cautiously optimistic, especially since we don't know any real info just yet. He could surprise us all with stuff. I hope it's more on the Multiverse side of things, and not something like the Movie Maniacs line, where it's back to the pre-posed statues. I feel like that would kill the line before it ever even takes off again.
It just occurred to me that these will probably be those 3" figures like their Gi Joe, Stranger Things, Spawn, etc...
@deckard The Page Punchers? It hadn't even occurred to me; I keep forgetting those are a thing. I guess it's possible, but would require them to make comics of the TV show universe, which isn't out of the realm of possibility, of course, but might enter into some weird legal stuff with Skybound. I would think if comics were on the table, it would be mentioned in the press release, but what do I know? Knowing my luck, I'll be eating my words, but I hope not. I'm not against Page Punchers, for those who like them, but I hope that's not their only offering.
Best case scenario: McFarlane makes Walking Dead figures from all the seasons exactly like their DC line in scale and articulation.
The press release did mention the new spinoffs as well as the old show, so I guess we'll see. Of course it's gonna be another case of "If you want more, you gotta buy these ones first". The show certainly doesn't have the same fanbase it used to, but there's still quite a few diehard fans out there, and certainly people who would just buy figures because they look cool.
As much as I love The Walking Dead, I just can't give any more money to Todd McFarlane.
If they made a 5" Rosita and Lori, I would buy them. Those two are sorely missing from the line.
If they continued the 5" line I would be up for that Fused Walker and Maggie as (Jill Valentine) from Dead City. We still need a good comic Tyreese...
and of course more zombies.

I was in the same boat initially, too. Then I realized how unique these black and white figures would look on the shelf. At $25 each, I'm willing to buy these first two to see how they look in person. Zach said a walker and another character would be the next two announced. I'm guessing Negan.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the comic isn't IN color, so the B&W figures ARE accurate to the source material.
@salemcrow You're both right and wrong. The comic was, and has been, in black and white all these years. It was a stylistic choice to make the comic more like the old Romero zombie flicks. The covers, however, were always in color, and a couple years ago, they started re-doing the entire series from the start, issue by issue, in full color.
I agree, though, that black and white figures would look more unique on the shelf. I think when McFarlane did his comic line before, he did both color and black and white, and if I remember correctly (though I have nothing to back it up), I wanna say the black and white sold better. Or maybe they were exclusives through Skybound's site? Either way, I think they were the preferred versions.
I was just going through some old articles about McFarlane Walking Dead, and I forgot that he had 5 figures planned and shown off for the Color Top line back in the day that never came to be- Rick, Negan, Maggie, Jesus, and Daryl all from season 8. It's a shame they never saw the light of day- they all looked really nice. I didn't exactly hate the Color Top line, despite the lack of articulation, but hopefully they would've improved with time. They at least looked good, and he was starting to add more articulation towards the end with the still odd choice of Janitor Daryl. I'd still have picked up a Carol if/when he got around to her.

Where did you see these pictures?
In addition to the 3" line I could also see these new ones falling under the 6" Movie Maniacs banner
