Re: pinless if folks are just looking at the early promo pics from places like bbts I'm fairly sure those are not the final paint or product (I think they may actually be renders). The physical test shots BFS showed on Facebook seem totally pinless per the new blank body, though the 1/18 scale one they showed more recently does have big ole pins:
The test shot they showed at SDCC was also pinless:
Also, the screaming head in the test shots looks pretty good to me, obviously paint will matter a lot, we'll see about the rosey cheek:
So, I am wondering if the test shot pictures that were being shown were actually the 1/18th figure and being mistaken as the 1/12th? That might explain the joint issues at the very least.
I haven't canceled my pre-order at this point and am hoping this will be a Sonja that fits well on my Legends shelf - the LC version was too tall for that and had to go hang out with the MOTUC folks, though she trends a little small over there.
@panthercult Which ones are you looking at? If they've got huge chonkin' pins then they are definitely the 1/18 they showed just recently. The early pics for the 1/12 (which are still the ones on BBTS) have teeny tiny pins, but like I said I believe those are actually renders (I think the images of the other 1/12 scale space lady/Mongol/space pirate and such are likewise). All the photos that have been labeled as physical product for Sonja and other 1/12 scale BFS figures appear pinless.
@panthercult these are the same size as LC according to the size chart they put up with their 2 new figures. They have a scale picture and these are actually more like 6 1/2 inches, not 6. Honestly, it's a double edged sword for me. On one hand, she's around the same height as the other one, so that's cool to keep her uniform. On the other hand, she's a fairly tall lady if you wanna fit her in with ML. While it's not bad looking, she's definitely on the tall side compared to those.
@trunks3540 The display I'm thinking of adding her to is my sort of generic D&D dungeon display, filled with the BFS skeletons and Hasbro's Xanathar, so I think her height will work fine for me. Also, I just sort of envision Sonja as at least 6 feet of sunshine anyway.
Yea, I don't see her as being over 6 ft. Maybe like 5 10, max. Since the proto painted shots are up in the other thread I posted my 2 pennies in there about that.
Robo reviewed some preview samples of the blanks. Overall look pretty promising. Glad I have a couple preordered. Hoping for more accessories,/body types/some blank skeletons down the line.
It does look like they're taking feedback. Scaled the cheeks back a lot:
Honestly, that is good news. That sample picture looks loads better than the last one they shared - although this photo hides the elbow assembly, so hard to tell if that got better - but the picture of the black and white version looks pretty normal there. I am less concerned about this figure with these new images.
@panthercult One thing I think isn't helping is they cropped out he background. While that's probably because it's someone's messy desk or whatever, it also divorces the figure from what lighting it's under and I think makes it harder to really figure out how it would look in hand.
I think the bikini is too shiny. But otherwise that looks much better then the last picture i saw lol.
New pics in package. Not too bad. I might wait for an in hand review, but definitely looks like they were taking feedback seriously.
Well, I'm not going that far, but I never did cancel my preorder at BBTS so I'll still assess it in peson.
