Is that Jae Lee art or someone doing an imitation/homage to Jae Lee’s Inhumans cover art?
It's Jae Lee homaging himself, I believe.
Good news, Wave 5 is currently arriving at Super7's warehouse.
Awesome! With my S7 D&D U!s processing at BigBad, I was wondering if I'd be able to get Copper Kidd in that loot pile as well.
I'll be sad if we don't get the last 3 Hawks. Interestingly the new Dynamite series has Hotwing out of the gate, but none of the others additions, just like this line.
Don't worry, the line is far from over. Super7 has announced this summer that from now on, they will alternate between wave of "Cartoon versions" and "Toy versions" of Silverhawks. I think we can hope for, at least, ten waves.
And to answer NORM, yes, wave 5 is just Copper Kidd and his vehicle.
Managed to get the whole of the 1st wave for £49.99 due to black Friday. Though I probably shouldn't have got them as I need to make sure I have funds for the haslab ecto lol.
Copper Kidd is sent. Mine will arrive on December 24th 🤗
On the one hand - I appreciate the restraint in the rolling out new pre-orders more than a year before product will ship, on the other hand, I sure would like to know who's going to be in the next wave of Silverhawks offered.
At this point it's only Copper Kid and Darkbird I don't have in hand, and it sounds like Copper Kid may be coming soon. Oh, wait, I did order the stupid metallic Steelwill, just because I have the other two in that metallic sheen... I might even have considered metallic Bluegrass if he came with a masked head...
Anyway... I do wish we'd get a reveal relatively soon for the next wave of new characters for this line. I wonder what will come first, the next Silverhawks wave or finally a reveal of Tiger Sharks, just a year after he teased it would be coming?
I want to say that, in one of Veeb's recent Zoom dates with him, Flynn said the TigerSharks got pushed back to 2026. I'm not sure if that meant delivered or announced, though.
Bluegrass never had a mask. Presumably because he flew the Mirage, but then would poke his head out in space and be fine. The 80's were wild.
I too would appreciate knowing if we're getting any new figures for this line. With the new comic coming out next month it would be a good time to announce it!
It would just be nice to hear what Super7's preorder policy is now. It's not just Silverhawks, but a lot of lines haven't had anything solicited for quite some time. If they're dropping down to only 1 or 2 open waves per license it would be nice to know.
So, I think it was heavily implied previously that their new investors insisted that they start limiting how many open pre-orders they had.
I suspect that Super7 may actually have been using the pre-order money they got from a current offering to fund previously solicited lines rather than the line being solicited at the time and so the new investors insisted on a change to that methodology. This may also explain in part the emphasis on the Deluxe offering - reusing existing molds to get new sales and bring money in to help shore up their situation so that future pre-orders offered can be sustained by the orders made for those waves.
All of that is total guesswork by me, but it would help explain the shift away from constant pre-orders followed by dilated wait times of 18 months or more for delivery.
So, interestingly Super7 indicated that the Deluxe figure offerings have been successful and will continue. I do wonder if any of the Silverhawks will get a Deluxe line treatment or if they are too niche for that.
Considering Quicksilver and Steelheart are available on BBTS right now for $27.50 the Deluxe figures wouldn't be a great deal, but would increase visibility. Buzz Saw (yellow) and Windhammer are also $27.50. Steelwill, Bluegrass and Mon*Star (pre-transformation) are all $43.99 as well if anyone was still looking for bargains on these.
I'm guessing the deluxe line is aimed at getting hard to get figures back on shelves without alienating the old collectors. Admittedly, there aren't a ton of Super7 figures that have sold out and shot up in value, but one was the second Ghost figure and not coincidentally that was recently solicited as a deluxe offering. It will also probably be used to do cheaper versions of popular characters. And then there's the MOTU inspired figures which seem to be a new line for them. It started with the Misfits/Danzig, but is expanding to ThunderCats. I don't know if Silverhawks will play into any of that as it doesn't appear to be a huge seller. Maybe if the clearance prices lead to sell outs and they actually become harder to get we might see it.
I'm guessing the deluxe line is aimed at getting hard to get figures back on shelves without alienating the old collectors.
I mean... for Thundercats I'm not sure that's what it was exactly... Lion-O wasn't exactly "hard to get" if you knew where to find Super7 figures and Monkian - the toy version of the Ultimates line - was readily available on discount at the very time the Deluxe hit store shelves. I honestly think they are meant for a different audience - one that checks out Target store shelves but doesn't haunt on-line toy news sites.
What would a Deluxe SilverHawk even look like?
I had started to say I'd rebuy the whole team if they were released in a shiny plastic like their Czarface figures, but then I realized there's no "1 figure + 1 accessory" option that would satisfy me.
I'm assuming a Deluxe version would be unmasked head only and no wings, and what would even be the point of that?
