I've been asking for this for years. It's finally coming! Seeing the quality of what they can do with their Star Wars line, with their Indiana Jones, man. This is probably gonna be the best LOTR 1/12 line yet. Now I need them to do Ghostbusters too...

Looks like Frodo and Aragorn. I would probably buy the Fellowship, Gollum, Saruman, and Sauron at a minimum. Hope the line does well.

I'm in for whatever they make!  I'll replace the toybiz figures in the 6" line as they come out... as long as they don't look horribly out of place.

Mentioned over in the DST thread, but depending on how these look, I may end up finally giving in to my desire to buy Figuarts. Especially if Legolas can hold his bow properly, they'll get me. Would be great if Gollum could bend and crawl without fear of breaking too. I think the biggest test, at least for me, will be seeing how the robed characters can move. Gandalf, Saruman, Ringwraiths, etc.- if they're able to actually get decent ROM, then count me in! I know it'll probably take a while before getting any characters beyond the Fellowship, but as long as sales are there, I trust SH Figuarts to give us some army builders.

@joshsquash729 Well, take a look at how they made Ben Kenobi, and the recent redo of him with cloth robes. He has enough articulation and poseability to (with the cloth robes) sit in a vehicle. Of course it won't be perfect but SHF seems to explore ways to find mobility even with difficult characters.

This is cool. I'd like a Gandalf.

My question for SH Figuarts is “Do they have a Cave Troll?” I thought it was this company that had done a horse but it was Figma. I’m always confusing the two! Mounts for the Nazgûl and other characters as well as Wargs, Trolls, Fell Beasts, Shelob and a Balrog could definitely persuade me to shell out some money! This announcement has no bearing on my continued support of DST’s line because I love what they are doing!

This is great news! The more LOTR the better in my opinion. Does anyone know if they can sell to the States? That’s the one issue I have had with the few Star Wars ones I picked up. I had to get them online from places like AmiAmi and I had to get them pretty much once they went up for preorder because they sold out or closed the preorder window super fast.

I too will still be supporting DST’ LOTR.

This is just a guess, but I bet you'll have to import these through a site like AmiAmi or pay a mark-up at a U.S. retailer.

Is there any mention yet when these might go up for pre order?  I definitely want these.  I will still collect the DST line, but I will collect the s*** outta this line too!

@tsi this might not be the case. SHF can't sell their Marvel or Star Wars figures in the USA because of Hasbro's exclusive license. But I don't even think there is a company currently making 1/12 LoTR figures? I imagine they'll be able to sell over here just like DBZ.

That would be great for price and availability, but I'll believe it when I see it.

@tsi yeah we'll see. The Harry Potter movie figs were distributed domestically and were $45 bucks a pop, but went on sale often to around $32 and lower ($32 is the last recorded price at BBTS) If they can sell these in the US, I reckon they'll be around $55-$65.

Oh man, mixed feelings about the face sculpts. I will say this, SHF faces almost always look much better in hand, and often photograph terribly. But something looks really off about each of them, and Gollum looks bizarre.

Cool they are releasing Legolas too, though! I'm definitely going to need a Gandalf.

Looks like they are dipping their toes back into Harry Potter, too. Two new HP figs.
