my first instinct was to chuckle at it. Then I got looking at it a bit more. I think the character is too human in build. It looks like a man in a monkey mask. They should’ve worked a bit more monkey/ape into the sculpt’s posture. It would have gone further in communicating the concept.
That's a fair criticism - but obviously this is them using the existing spy body they've already developed for their other line they've previewed and they are adding a simian head. This isn't something they were starting over with an all new body sculpt for. This is more Roddy McDowell Planet of the Apes style than true anthropomorphic apes. Maybe down the line if they lean into a fully sculpted line we could see new body typing, but I'm thinking this may be the aesthetic they are going for. Sophisticated Planet of the Apes.
Oh, I get what they were trying to do. It’s just a little off. The posture conveys human, as do the feet. They reused human shaped feet. Simian feet are built a bit differently. They should’ve sculpted new “simian foot shaped shoes”. It would have helped too.
Even in the original Planet of the Apes, the actors portraying the apes were instructed to move and stand in a more curved posture to help the illusion. FMF has opted to go this route, and that’s their choice. The figures could always be posed in a more “ape posture” if one chooses to do so. The figure still looks nice. I, personally, wish they had gone that little bit further though. Time will see where they go with this.
Got the rest of the wave opened. Not a bad figure in the bunch. Despite being only about 2.5 unique body types, they really made an effort to make each one feel unique and a worthy addition to the line. I’m glad for my wallet future waves aren’t as big though. A couple figures at a time is much more manageable at these prices. Well worth the price though (besides Dracula but I figure he kept the rest at a consistent price).

Yeah, you can't expect these guys to wear something of the rack from JCPenny. They have standards.
My Monster Force is in FedEx limbo. Hopefully they come before Halloween. I wanted to do a few photos for Instagram. My Giant Man may be here before them and they shipped from closer location seven days ago. Oh well.
Seeing more reviews I think the tactical vampires and Sleepwalkers are gonna be fantastic. Hell I may do a Marvel Zombies and Forgotten King pic with the Vampires.

I'm trying to hold off shipping my Pile of Loot for a minute still, but the fact that I have a bunch of these sitting in there is making it really, really hard.
And today's BBTS 25th Anniversary exclusive is an Operation: Monster Force figure - Delta Red - Nightshade Unit.
Commando body with a blue suit, black gear - comes with 3 heads, a vampire soldier head, a human soldier head with "tactical night-ops" paint, and what I think might be a new masked head. The mask might not be new, I just might not recognize it painted in gold on this body.
Anyway - for anyone that was itching to expand their commando team, here's another option.
No new heads in that set, just new paint schemes. The helmet comes with both currently released Delta Red figures. The unmasked head is Van Helsing. Very Steel Brigade Commander colors there.
FedEx found my guys and delivered em. Yay! Only seen the boxes. The boxes are really nice. I’ll get to play around with em tomorrow.

Dude the Sleepwalker Crimson and Obisidian figures are fire - the alt heads are what make them for me. I'm waiting for a little lull before I order a couple more of each.

That's exactly what I'm using them for - and they are perfect for that. And I've curtailed my Cobra team army building a great deal, but can't resist the urge with these guys. They are fun and good.
