And shipping is free...

Uh, is it?

FFS.  The shipping and the fact that apparently my credit card does not support split payments via either Shop Pay or PayPal have got me rethinking this purchase.  Backing off for now, I've got a month to decide.

I just ordered mine. And I went through a similar situation as you, cmoney with the split payments thing.

Nearly $130 for what looks like a standard action figure was a bitter pill to swallow, but I doubt I'll ever see RGB figures with this much detail again in my lifetime.

BBTS has the non-exclusive just-Peter version up for pre-order.  You could save on shipping at least.  But of course, I want the two-pack.

That's different then. For all of the stuff I've ordered from Mondo's website, shipping was free in the US. They moved to shipping direct from the factory with the sixth scale stuff, so maybe they're not doing that with Ghostbusters? Either way, that sucks. I haven't put in an order yet and will probably wait for my next billing cycle. I just spent a buttload on Ghost tickets today so I don't have an appetite to drop more.

EE's got a sale going on, so you could get the single-packed Peter for $10 and free shipping on their site right now.

I kind of feel like we're owed an explanation for the shipping from Mondo.  They're already asking a hell of a lot of us with the base price, and changing policy like that is just an extra thumb in the eye.  I too am waiting, at the least, for my next billing cycle.  But I'm hoping the topic gets broached either on tonight's YHS stream or tomorrow's Mondo one.

Glad to see single pack Peter comes with everything except Samhain!

I just put my PO in with EE. They automatically included a 10% off coupon, so it came in around $98 with tax and shipping included (WA tax is high.) Made it a *little* easier to swallow, and I'm glad I can cancel between now and June.

I'm both excited, but also a little on the fence with the line. Beautiful sculpts and if the paint is as good as what I saw at SDCC then these will look great on the shelf. But I wish they were true 1/12. I wish they had a little more range of articulation, I'm not even sure they can bend at all at the waist, or if they could properly sit in an Ecto-1. I wish there were gesture hands... thumbs up, pointing, splayed, etc. And I wish we got one more buster head with an extreme expression.

Basically, I'm OK paying $100 for a figure but I want it to be as "Ultimate" as possible. Maybe NECA spoiled me. But I want these to come alive on the shelf the same way the Toon Turtles do. Unfortunately, they look built to pretty much be in one pose and that's that. I'm glad that that pose allows them to hold their wands, but TBH it would be egregious if they couldn't.

I'm wondering if Hasbro is planning on taking a stab at these, or some other company, and part of the vague mumblings about licensing is because they literally have to charge over $100 to be in accordance with some agreement over competing. From what I understand, Hasbro's exclusive 1/12 license on Marvel/Star Wars prevents Bandai SHF from selling their figures in the US, unless they are priced over a certain threshold.

Hadn't read this thread since I'd read "shipping is free", but I just came from Mondo after doing a curiosity shopping cart setup. $250 total for this set is just fucking ridiculous! Hell, the $200 was ridiculous, but they said "Hold my beer!" and added insane shipping pricing to it. I've never purchased form Mondo before, and now I know I never will.

Fuck that.

Bit the bullet on the Mondo 2pk.  The shipping is ridiculous as previously every time I used them it was always included.  I doubt I'll be doing the Egon 2pk at this price, but since I use my GB figures largely as Halloween decorations, the large pumpkin headed guy seems obvious.  I think Egon, Ray and Winston I'll be getting from Entertainment Earth and cop the free shipping since these figures are so expensive already.  Heaven help Hasbro if they decide to make RGBusters at some point, as I doubt I'll be picking those up.  And apparently Hasbro owning the master license is part of why these are so expensive according to some folks who have been researching things.

Yeah, the rumor I keep hearing is that Hasbro demanded they be at least $100 price point, which is why the cheeky $101 MSRP.

The other thing I'm trying to keep in mind is just how expensive Mezco's stuff is too, and that these look so much better to me (I hate soft goods at 1/12 scale).  But the shipping thing is still killing me and I'm waffling again.

I went back and tried to watch most of the YHS stream, but it seemed to me like for the most part, they were too busy singing Mondo's praises that anyone who mentioned the shipping was dismissed as a "complainer". Are they always like that?

Anyways, I'll try to watch the Mondo stream.

They kind of are, yeah.  They don't seem to see it as their place to question that stuff.  Guess they're not really that kind of show.

The YHS crew are pretty upfront about their bias towards Ghostbusters. And one of the co-hosts of the Toy Anxiety show does another podcast with Alex Brewer, the sculptor for Mondo, so they're not going to be objective. They're going to fanboy over all of this stuff as well as the Ecto-1 HasLab.

Mondo danced around the price and reasoning, but the takeaway has been it's basically Hasbro's position as the license holder that forces an above $100 price point for each figure. I do think a valid criticism of the line is that if we accept that to be true, then what is stopping Mondo from filling the sets with more accessories to fill it out? There probably should be more hands and heads with Peter, but we also don't really know what would be the typical package for a Mondo 1/12 figure. I guess we'll have a better idea when their MOTU stuff goes up for sale.

$30 for shipping is pretty outrageous. I saw the griping here last night, but didn't realize the charge was that high. I was expecting 10-15 bucks and that would have been on the high side, but 30? It's really just baffling. They know the price of the figures is higher than anyone expected or wanted, so why make it worse with that crazy a shipping charge? It's not even that there is one at all, but that the charge is just so out of whack with basically every other retailer out there. And with the sixth scale stuff shipping free, it feels like something Mondo needs to get in front of. At least offer an explanation, even if it's a poor one that few will accept, at least it's something. It's a big enough charge that I'm reconsidering getting the two pack. I thought Samhain and the Ghostbusters would make for a nice Halloween display as well, but with the EE deal out there right now, we're being asked to pay an extra $140 bucks for just Samhain. That's insane!

Ladies and gentlemen (well, probably mostly gentlemen here), we have been heard! Mondo is switching to free shipping for all orders placed yesterday and all going forward, not just for Peter/Samhain, but the entire line going forward. I don't know if they got caught trying to squeak out a few more dollars, if it was just an error, or if they expected lower sales, but I don't care. They made it right, and that should be commended.

To clarify for those who don't watch the video, it's only free for domestic orders, so our friends outside the U.S. have a different situation.  In my experience, however, Mondo, boutique as they are, has always righted whatever issue I've had with a figure.  It took 3 months but I now have a proper looking animated Rogue that isn't wall-eyed looking like the Sloth from Ice Age, and it didn't cost me a penny.  So they should be commended in that regard.
