Mine got here yesterday.
I got a shipping notice for Slugfest today so he's on the move. Mine is coming from WA (to OH) fwiw.
Oh, good, so my Solomon Kane isn't the only one still sitting at 'processing'.
The Mask going up for sale today!
bit of an underwhelming offering of the mask for me.
I'll say, this seems pretty half-assed to me. Deluxe edition? Doesn't seem like you're getting all that much. I don't really like the other two head choices — the shakey head is cool for a couple minutes but is pretty limited in display — and the bullet-hole head looks awfully close to the first head. The rest of the accessories are pretty lackluster for Mezco.
I wasn't much interested in the Mask to begin with but, yeah, that offering is kinda weak for $112. Would've preferred to see Doc Ock or King Conan go up instead.
At this point, I think I'm pretty well done with Mezco. I received a shipping notice for Solomon Kane, then a few days later received a notice that they tried to charge my card but it was declined. I went in an updated my card AGAIN (I had done this as soon as I got the notice...I know the drill after all this time). A couple days later I was sent a notice that they had canceled my order and they were keeping the NRD. It's almost worth losing that money to be able to wash my hands of them. What a crappy way to do business.
@thegillman Maaaaaan, I'm sorry, that sucks! Same thing happened to me with the most recent Superman. And I had used rewards points on it, which also evaporated into nothingness. Eventually got a response from customer service, who assured me that if I placed a wait-list order, they'd push it through & reapply my deposit & rewards... Well they shipped him, but didn't apply anything if the previous payments. I still have a few preorders I want too much to cancel & lose the deposit, but I'm definitely not planning to make another direct order with them.
@fuzzybluedemon I just don't understand how Mezco thinks they're going to keep customers when they do business like this! I guess they think their figures are so stellar we'll keep buying them no matter what.
My Solomon Kane arrived this afternoon and it's pretty great. That is, he looks fantastic and there's a lot of great stuff going on. But there's also some stuff I don't like that I want to call out specifically.
And I want to preface this by saying that while two of my three (prior to SK) Mezco figures have some bullshit wrong with them - it's broken/missing things, not stuff that doesn't look/work like originally pictured. I think both Conans and Eric Draven pretty much nail the look you got in the proto/sell images.
With SK... his vest sucks, and I don't think it really looks like it does in those glamour shots at all. They went with a velcro strip to hold it closed on the front, which just makes it really bulky and, as always, the velcro just doesn't have that perfectly tight hold to it, so it's got a little bit of peeling back going on, like from certain angles you can really see that it's velcro. It just looks ugly. And the extra bulk makes his upper body look weird when compared to his nude legs with leggings over them. It's just.. it's a bad vest. They did a bad job on it.
I haven't tried, but I'm hoping there's a way to take the main belt off so the vest can be removed, but that belt looks quite on there, so I'm not sure and I don't really want to test my luck and do any damage I can't fix.
The coat was awful to take off and put back on just to get the bandolier on the figure.
And I know that maybe this isn't a fair critique because you sort've have to expect it - but his arm ROM is VERY limited. Decent ROM at the elbows, though, considering usually figures with armor/big detail on their forearms suffer a lot here.
My figure came with everything that it was supposed to and nothing was broken or fused in the package, so he's already a better value than half of my Mezco collection to date.
The faces/hair swapping is actually pretty incredible. I was, to be honest, kind of overwhelmed with the possibilities. In fact, with the removable coat and all the gear, I legitimately was wishing I had bought two so I could display different versions of the figure without having to mess with him too often.
All the weapons look awesome, which shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. Effect pieces are great. And while I don't love how much more restrictive it is when added to the already restrictive underlayer.. the coat is amazing. I mean, not really from the front where it just looks pretty normal. But I almost want to display him facing away from me because the back of this coat looks absolutely killer.
Poses pretty well considering the limitations. Ankles work great. Everything feels solid and tight without being immobile (cough-Conan-cough). Like every Mezco I own, I find him very finicky and bordering on irritating to do anything with, but he's so FUN in the sense of 'look at all the stuff I can do with him if I have the patience.'
I would say this Solomon Kane was worth the money spent. I really like him a lot.
I still don't ever see myself buying anything from Mezco ever again - especially directly - because they're a shit business operated by garbage people that think nothing of you or me. BUT.. hot damn, a good figure is a good figure.
My SK finally shipped, should be here this week.
God damn it.
I cancelled my preorder on that a year ago. Looks like eBay is about to get some of my money. And it's all your guys' fault.
I need that, bad.
@fuzzybluedemon SK is one of the few figures I own, not just Mezco but out of my entire toy collection, where I legitimately struggled with which accessories he should use. Granted, my Conan figures come with plenty of stuff as well, but there's definitely stuff I liked way more and the decision is pretty easy except when I'm feeling like changing it up for the sake of it.
But for both Conans and Eric, I knew before the figures even showed up which accessories (or lackthereof) were my favorite.
SK... nope. I think I stared into the tray with a puzzled expression for a solid 30-45 seconds because I didn't even know what to take OUT first. Everything he comes with legitimately looks great with him, and the various pieces look different enough to really impact his presence on the shelf. Even just deciding between 'wind-blown flame' and 'regular flame' for the torch was like picking a favorite child. And now looking at your pics... I kind of regret that I went pistol instead of sword. I mean.. I did it because SO many of my action figures have swords and this felt far more unique.
But, I mean, the swords look really good. I think I might have to change him up again.
