...at BBTS. Anybody else way down on preordering? This was the first time in ages I could accurately list all my BBTS preorders without looking at my account. I have preorders elsewhere, like Amazon Pulse, and import sites but it's mostly doubles of Joes and 97 X-Men.
My current BBTS preorders:
- Origins Snake Mountain
- Storm Collectibles Mai
- Jada Chun-Li
- Mezco Roadblock
- Storm Taki
- Storm Sheeva
- Lucifer Toys Cold Winter Wolf Berserker
- SHF Yuzuriha
- 4 Horseman Headless Horseman
- 97 Wolverine
- 97 Storm
- 97 Rogue
- Black Series Ahsoka
- Missing Link Optimus
- The rest are whatever Joes not received by BBTS
64 items POed, 2 items in PoL. Got a shipment about a week ago of 8 items. I expect 3-4 EAGLE Force figures to arrive soon-ish; maybe a Gundam model.
I’m also way down on preordering. It’s a combination of factors
- last few years there was delays due to COVID supply chain issues so figures stayed in a preorder status for 2x to 4x the usual time. It’s not that I was necessarily buying more figures the last two years but they were staying in preorder status longer so the preorder list got bigger
- I’m buying less stuff due to concerns of recession
- I’m buying less stuff because less good stuff is being released. At least less stuff I’m interested in.
- I’m preordering less because it’s cheaper not to preorder
- I got burned preordering Spero Toys Primal Series on kickstarter due to FOMO thought it was the only way, but they are widely available for not much more than I paid in full over 2 years earlier so I’d have been better off not preordering.
- Marvel Legends aren’t selling out, they aren’t making anything mind blowing lately that will be popular enough to sell out. Not like retro carded Spider-Man of 2 years ago.
- Super7 Ultimates are getting clearances out if you wait until after release.
- As my toy collection grows, I have less and less space. So I have to be more careful with what I buy.
- eBay and shipping fees are high enough to make selling most open old toys not worth it. I don’t use Facebook so Facebook groups aren’t an option. So I’m holding onto some toys I don’t love anymore and have less space.
I can summarize saying toy companies are overproducing figures. Spero, Super7, and Hasbro are overproducing and there’s no need to preorder. I preorder Mythic and Cosmic legions because they are truly made to order. Other companies lie about made to order.
I’m excited for the Super7 party van but I regret preordering it. They are making way more than the preorders and they’ll be available at retail price for months after release, without needing to have locked up cash and taken a risk it won’t be delivered.
So overall I’m preordering much less.
Pre-orders are down for me as well. I have 10 right now.
The only reason is because I'm not as interested in what's being offered right now. It ebbs and flows.
I currently have 50 items on Pre-order at BBTS - it is predominantly Super7 related, with a handful of Operation Monster Force, a smattering of NECA and a couple of those 5" Tick figures.
But that doesn't count the Marvel Legends and GI Joe Classified I have pre-ordered at Amazon, the 7 or 8 exclusives pre-ordered at Wal Mart, the handful of items on pre-order at Target and the few things pre-ordered at Hasbro Pulse.
There's still a crap ton of my pre-orders floating out there in the universe.
Maybe pertinent info on my part: 19 of those 65 POs are EAGLE Force figures. Probably 50 of the 65 are single 18th-ish figures. The current 2 PoLs total ~$100, a $65 Diaclone and $30 hibernation chamber model kit.
So, my raw number may be higher due to being a smaller-average investment each time than the norm hereabouts.
30 items on preorder for me. It's all Dragon Ball Z Figuarts, Marvel Legends, and NECA Gargoyles.
I've slowed down on Marvel Legends, although I do have the entire Mindless Ones wave preordered currently.
I'm trying to cut back even further. No space left at the moment, at least until we get a new place. And with the housing market the way it is, who knows when that will be.
I've cut back considerably. The only thing I'm regularly pre-ordering right now is the Jada Street Fighter 2 line.
The majority of my collection was X-Men Marvel Legends and Super7 Ninja Turtles.. I got fed up with Super7 and decided to stop collecting their Ultimates line. And my X-Men collection is focused on '90s X-Men. I've been building this collecting since like 2016. I already have the majority of characters I want to own. You mentioned you're pre-ordering some X-Men '97 figures.. I'm not, already own the older versions, and don't feel like there's enough of an upgrade for me to buy the newer figures.
Damn and I thought I had a ton lol.
Currently 17 PO at BBTS. I very regularly stay in the 10-20 range.
Now if we count Mythic and Cosmic Legions, especially individually when I have an all-in, then... oof...
I am way down too. In fact I was just thinking about canceling some of the pre-orders I do have. The economy and rising costs of essentials are a concern. Toys are getting more expensive. My collection is full, and I'm pretty satisfied with the versions of the characters I have.
