Ouch, that is rough. I wonder if they had worked with their new partners at Sideshow if they could have gotten any better shipping rates through them? Being a small business with an item of this size has its disadvantages.

Yeah just shipping everything USPS priority seems like a mistake--particularly for overseas buyers.  DHL or EMS should be their choice for international buyers.

There is something to be said about the lack of visual appeal to the offering. I watched the video where they tried to explain the engineering they want to use to give the wings the ability to move down and to the side (as if in flight) but as of right now it's only been shown as a somewhat posable statue. The video made the tail look super flexible but they were even saying that this wasn't how the final version would work and that there was a wire running through the test version that wouldn't be there in the end.

Even something like close ups of what they intend the claws to look like would help. I do think they are relying on the good faith attitude of their fans for this though - they're so reliable that they know folks will trust them most of the time. This feels like too big a project to not do a little more than rely on faith though.

A live tracker would help with the FOMO too.

What would a live tracker do for people that the daily update doesn't?

Maybe not much now but during the last streak of the campaign will be critical. Fence sitters will often join in if they’re seeing stretch goals unlocked live. We could easily go from 1700 to 4000 in a day at the end but not know it without the counter being live. If it was like that 4000 could have been even higher. So many Kickstarters and Haslabs have crazy final days. I’ve seen things like Galactus finally fund in the last few days and then more than double the initial funding goal. Daily updates are fine now but a live counter needs to happen by the end.

It would seem there aren't swappable front feet, but they look quite flat in the promo pic.  And the display model had them in gripping mode.  While moveable fingers can be interest, how strong will they be for supporting the dragon long-term?

I know they mentioned switching the wings to mount via a hinge-disc.  They mentioned ratchet joints for the peg, but they didn't specifically mention the hinge ratcheting.  Hopefully both axis ratchet, since the wings are certainly going to weigh a bit.

I experimented with shipping costs, and the shipping for all three components is the same as purchasing them separately.  So there's no real benefit to ordering all three of them at once.  Unless you want to put the whole thing on payment plans.  Theoretically, you could buy the dragon and split up the payments.  And then maybe buy the add-on(s) separately.  Something I'm considering.  I'm not sold on the wings, so I'll hold off on them anyway.

@ashtalon I was reading through some Instagram questions yesterday and the Horsemen confirmed the dragon comes with a set of gripping front hands. Why they aren’t showing that off in pictures or listing them out is beyond me. Any additional thing they are including can only help sell the figure.

Yeah, it's a bit weird they aren't showing off or mentioning the alternate claws.  You think that would be a detail customers would like to know about.   So why not mention it on the sales page?

Now I'm more confused than ever. It looks like there are two joints per finger, but if they're including a completely separate set of hands how could there be?  🤔

A set of (articulated?) gripping hands.  And maybe a set of flat hands for standing?

Good information the Four Horsemen posted on their channel today where they answer some questions that have come up over and over.

No articulation in the hands.  Other than that not sure I learned much aside from seeing them demo some of the articulation with early factory prototypes, but it was only basic wing and leg movement that anyone could have assumed.  Still not sure where all of the 50 articulation points are, but the tail seems to have the most; I think they said 13 points there and a 12-inch bendy-wire at the end.

What was most interesting was they spent about 15 minutes showing pictures of the factory molds.  I knew they existed and how they worked, but seeing real ones for Mythic Legions figures is interesting.  They said even the small molds are too heavy to lift, and that the mold for the wings will be insane.

Yeah, I think that was the biggest thing they were trying to get across. The steel molds for even small parts are big. Molds for the wings are going to be massive and weight a ton (not literally but several hundred pounds at least). That tooling doesn’t come cheap and that’s why the epic wings are an add on and not a stretch goal. Unfortunately a lot of the behind the scenes factors are hugely at play here with such a large and heavy item. Things like tooling and shipping that we don’t think a whole lot about because they’re baked into many items costs already aren’t here and it’s jarring. They’re fully admitting they’re not thrilled with the costs either but it’s just the reality of making such a large item.

I'll check out the video later.

Some thoughts though.  I've watched and contributed to plenty of Kickstarters and other crowdfunded toys.  So I also roll my eyes when a campaign hits the slow period and naysayers start saying nay.   I'm sure this dragon will fund even though it's slowed down.  There will be an inevitable spike at the end.  However, I'm not sure the dragon knight will unlock.  Or at least his bonus gear won't.  We'll see how close it gets.  If the dragon knight doesn't unlock, I imagine they'll still make him available down the road.  They won't admit that now due to wanting people to order the dragon, but I can't see them squandering the potential use of those new parts.

Also, what happens if the add-on flame knight and ashen zombie don't unlock.  I think there's still value with the flame pack, as you get an extra head, neck, and flame effect.  But the wings alone for $150?  Yeah, that set needs the zombie to make it more palatable.

Just some negative thoughts.   Will probably order the dragon soon.  But will hold off on accessories till the end, as I'm not sold on their total value yet.  And there's no real financial bonus for ordering them now or all together.
