100 dollars shipping for the head and the knight, I’m out.

Are you on the moon?  It's $19 to Richmond, Virginia for that, and $80 for shipping all three sets.

Thought I was getting out of this line, but I keep getting pulled back in.

Expected the dragon to be really expensive, so I was mentally prepared for the cost.

Don't see any incentive for anyone to pay now versus the end of the month/campaign, so I'd expect a slow rise until the end.

I'm honestly horrified by the talk of people using payment plans to buy toys.

I mean, it’s a little more than just a $25 retail figure. Not many folks have $1000 ready to drop for a month long sale.

I don't know that assuming higher debt is really a pro-debt point.

The figure was announced a couple of months back. The pre-order is a month long. Put it on a credit card and you won't have to pay it off for another month before accruing interest. That's like 3-4 months to come up with $1000. If that's not possible, I don't think that person should buy a $1000 toy. Somethings are just unaffordable.

I get it. It sucks to miss out on something you really want. Don't succumb to FOMO. There will always be something else to spend money on down the line.

The toes do seem to be articulated but just well hidden. They look to be articulated in the image where it lists the length and height.

@domu the payment plans offered at check out are interest free. It breaks the cost into 4 separate equal payments made every 2 weeks. Rather than $1000 all at once it allows some to pay $250 per paycheck and avoid any interest putting it on a credit card and hoping to pay it off later.

Oh, thanks! I didn't know that. A no interest plan makes perfect sense. Everyone should use that. Don't spend your cash before you have to.

I was seeing in some places people talking about using plans that would charge interest. I think that's a mistake.

This crowdfunding campaign is interesting. It’s different in many ways from a Haslab or Kickstarter. The biggest difference is of course needing to pay when placing the order. I think that is the potential Achilles Heel of this campaign.

With kickstarter or Haslab, you can place an order early to support the item and help get it to funding levels and start to unlock stretch goals. There was no reason to not back early as you could always cancel before the end of the campaign. With this, once you’re in, you’re in. I’ve already seen people say they won’t back until all goals are unlocked. Normally, I’d accuse them of being part of the problem but with the no cancellation policy of this one, I really can’t blame them for not jumping in until they feel it has the value they are needing.

So unfortunately the burden is on those that want this regardless if the goals get unlocked. There might be 4,000 that would support this will all the unlocks but are there 2,000 that will support this without them being included?

The other thing that is hurting this is shipping. Granted this is something out of their control. But I do question how accurate the costs are on the fiery breath pack. That one doesn’t seem like it should be too heavy or large but still over $30 to ship. The wings I get, they’re just going to be big. Even if relatively thin, the package will still be long and wide.

Lastly, the currently available photos just aren’t selling this thing. The scale isn’t quite as apparent and the pose ability and articulation are not being shown off. The difference in wings aren’t being illustrated enough. Some more exciting digital renders are poorly needed as the prototype is understandably fragile and not able to do much but stand there. This has over 50 points of articulation and maybe one (the jaw) is all they’ve really shown off. For a line that has prided itself on articulation and amazing photos, this one is clearly lacking and it’s not helping move these like the blogger pics will after this is no longer available.

That said, I backed day one, all in. I can see the vision in this but many do not seem to fully see that yet and that’s a problem for the campaign

Yeah, in my haste I didn't realize there was interest tied to the 6- and 12-month payment plans. It breaks down to around $4 extra a month whether it's 6- or 12-months — so $50 extra for the yearlong plan, which doesn't seem too outrageous to me. Better than a credit card, for sure. But it looks like the 2-week option is the way to go.

Sadly, I think you're spot on. I'm surprised by the early numbers. I thought they'd sell at least 1,000 dragons the first couple of days.

These next few weeks are going to be very interesting. It's at 50%-60% with a week to go I think there could be trouble. If it's less than 2,000 sold ...

And if the head add-on funds (which I fully expect) and the full dragon does not, would they consider just releasing that?

I myself haven't ponied up for a dragon and don't know that I will as I continue to go back and forth on whether it's just too big.

Unless this falls drastically short of funding, which I don’t think it will, I could see an extension happening. At 600ish already and a lat minute push, 2000 seems very likely at a minimum. The stretch goals are very questionable except for maybe the fiery breath set which seems to be doing the best overall.

Im curious how this would have done out of the gate on Kickstarter. Either the price would have increased 20% or so or the stretch goals and funding goals a bit higher. But the benefit of canceling before the end and jumping in risk free earlier. I wonder how many might not get FOMO because of the lack of a live tracker.

The Dragon itself looks really impressive with a beautiful sculpt. I am very curious how articulation will work.

The surprise Dragon Knight stretch goal looks amazing, and I love it! Especially if all of his extra gear gets unlocked. The Dragon Knight really makes the whole thing a lot more appealing to me. The Ashen Skeleton is a fun addition as well, especially if the orc and vampire skulls get unlocked.

The fiery breath add-on set looks like pretty good value even as a stand-alone set. As others have said, you can the representation of a dragon with just this set (like its emerging from a cave), and you get a cool flame accessory, and the Burning Knight! The Burning Knight looks like a ton of fun. And if fully unlocked, the Burning Knight gives you enough parts to make a few additional part-swapped flaming Knights and a Ghost Rider Knight.

The large wings do feel like a worse value. One video noted that the huge wings are one of the most expensive parts to tool. But the normal wings look impressive as well. And the Ashen Zombie is not as much of a seller to me personally.

It is all very tempting.
