Definitely out for me. I do think it's a beautiful project and as expensive as it is, I don't think they're overshooting in a way that rips anyone off - this thing's gonna be EXPENSIVE to produce - but I think they've got a lot of faith in their big spender fans. And I don't think that's misplaced.

I'm not afraid to spend too much money on their stuff, but this one's too rich for my blood. Not going to be one of those crowdfunded projects where I can be like "well, the base figure is actually only X because they included Y and Z...)

So... the expense is one thing... but for the gravity such a thing would hold in a collection I could probably justify the spend maybe -  certainly more than I could for a $300 G.I. Helicopter and Airplane or whatever...  but I just literally don't have the space for it.     I can't justify the spend for something I'd have to hide in the rafters until the fictional mythical day in the future I resettle somewhere with a massive display space.     Sigh.

Now, if my wife would let me have it in the living room...

@panthercult Y'know, my partner might actually let me keep a giant dragon in the living room, but she already has no issue with the Lego Rivendell set taking up the top of a bookshelf and I feel like I'd have to remove that to make room for the dragon.

Oh,  my wife puts up with a lot -  but a giant dragon in the living room isn't even something I'd ask about 😊

I'm not sure I need the flame effect and head.  Nor the large wings.  But the extra neck pieces would be useful.  While I don't have room for this thing, I'm not sure I can pass it up.  Since the campaign lasts for a month or so, I'll just keep an eye on it and see how it does and will decide near the end.  Basically FOMO will be the deciding factor for the wings for me.

If one buys this and then ends up changing their mind, I think it'll be difficult to sell.  Shipping will be a huge cost.  I don't see it going up much on the aftermarket either, since it's base cost is so much.  If it's a success, we all know there will be a different color version in a couple of years as well.  Unless the project becomes a giant headache to bring to fruition.  It's just not going to be something one can easily change their mind on after the fact.

I don’t know, many Horsemen exclusive items tend to hold their value well and some go for crazy prices on eBay. I don’t think it would be a difficult sell but you’re right that it would be a bit of a pain with shipping and all of that. I don’t think this would be one that goes up dramatically in value because of potential variants down the line but I don’t think it would ever dip in value at least.

The newer stuff seems to at least retain or slightly increase in value (the older stuff still goes for obscene amounts but I think collectors have gotten wind of how it works and started preordering what they want for fear of not being able to afford it later). But yeah, shipping a 7 inch tall knight is easy. This thing is going to take work to send anywhere and that's not even taking into account if international shipping gets more complicated in the coming years.

I really am curious if the color will have any impact on the number of backers given they said it's the first of several.

Did they already confirm different colored dragons?  Seems obvious if this one succeeds.  And certainly this one will.  2k units sold doesn't seem obscene given how hardcore MyL fans can be.   I was getting All-Ins (sometimes more) for years and have only slightly scaled back the last couple of waves.  I'm likely in for this dragon but vastly prefer a red dragon.

I don't think this dragon will lose value on the aftermarket.  I just don't think it'll increase too much.  Especially once another dragon is made after it.  It's just you'll also lose some kind of chunk of money via payment processing.  And again, storage and then shipping will be a pain.  I doubt anyone will be getting this thing to flip.  Just thinking of potential issues down the road should you want to switch to a different color dragon or just unload this one (for whatever reason).

I can tell you this -   I sent a box with a Hero Clix Fin Fang Foom in from California to Florida via USPS and it was over $50.     This dragon will be much bigger and heavier than that for sure.    I don't know how dramatically shipping costs scale up but my expectation is that the cost of shipping alone if you were to sell this on the secondary market would likely approach triple digits -  unless you have access to discounted corporate shipping or something.

So, the likelihood is that if you buy it and then sell it on a site like ebay,  unless it appreciates significantly,  after you take the hit for Ebay fees - 13.25% now -  as well as the hit for PayPal fees and sales tax -  plus the cost of shipping (I'll conservatively estimate $80)...   to break even it's ALOT.

$550 base price + $45 sales tax (I assumed 8%) + $50 shipping -   so that's $645 out of pocket to get the base dragon with no add ons from 4H to my door.

If I were to sell it on Ebay then and not be out of pocket losing money on the transaction I literally have to sell it for $800 (including shipping).    Legitimately -  buying the figure at $550 and turning it around and selling it for $800 on ebay would net you ZERO dollars in profit...   that is craziness.

The fomo over Mythic Legions stuff isn't what it used to be.  I've bought all-in bundles just to get a bigger discount and sell off the ones I didn't want.  Most of the stuff takes months to move unless it's an ogre-sized figure.  I stopped doing all-ins unless I want at least 2/3 of the figures in it.  I made some money but my reward really came in getting it out of my place finally.  Stuff seems to sell faster if you break it down into it's swappable parts for each figure, but I don't want to make listings for 16 different pieces across 5 different figures to make $7-$15 dollars apiece.

I'd say buying the dragon and keeping it in box would have been the safer bet, but not when they're promising to make it in 5 different colors.  I'd pass on this unless it's something you genuinely want for yourself, not assuming there's a latent investment there.

Not to sound too skeezy and money hungry, but the thought of just buying the wings and head to part-out and sell is an option.  I tried to decide if I wanted the burning knight or the charred zombie enough to buy some wings or a dragon head.  Hearing that you can split the payment into 4 installments puts this back on my radar.  Not significantly, but it's back to being a non-zero chance.

I was actually considering just buying the head and fire breath to display somehow. The head is my favorite part of the whole thing.

Then I saw the price tonight. $150 is a bit more than I was expecting.

Then I started thinking that I'm not too in to the Burning Knight figure. I'm sure that would sell for at least $100 ... Got to think about it.

There's a point in the video where Eric is holding one of the wings and it really hits home how massive and awesome this thing is going to be.

@red_ogre nah, the thing about crowdfunding items is there is no such thing as scalping. These are made to order. There will always be those that miss out for one reason or another. If you just want a portion of anything offered, buying it and parting out the rest is totally fair. I personally love the burnt figures but the dragon’s champion isn’t really for me. He looks great and all but the dragon’s champion isn’t victims are what really excites me. I especially love the burning knight. After playing with the graveyard skeletons last night, I totally envisioned them as charred remains. Maybe older ones now with this dark skeleton fresher.

No pics at all tonight of the "epic" wings on the figure.  I'm not entirely clear on the difference other than the extra ones are stretched out more, but I can't tell how much.  Neither set of wings having any articulation at all beyond the joint at which it connects to the dragon is a bummer; they said they couldn't do any in the wings and have them be supported in poses.

Not sure why the fire-breathing head's neck is so much longer, or really why they even need a second head.  So I guess the dragon can scrunch up its neck and extend it out kind of like...what?  A worm?  Snakes don't do that that I've ever seen, so why can this dragon extend its neck out another 5-10 feet?  And why do I want to pay a bunch of extra money for him to do it?

I was hoping for an articulation demonstration tonight, but nope.  And I'm not sure we'll get one in the crowdfund page.  Is the mouth articulated?  I'm a LOT more interested in the articulation of a dragon than I was in that of the Haslab Sentinel or Galactus since those guys mostly just walk upright, but dragons are mobile and often depicted as agile.  I'd like to know what kinds of poses this dragon can get into.

I'm skeptical I'll get half of the info I want to know to buy this guy by the end of tomorrow, but hopefully I'm wrong.
