That is for sure true. If I knew definitively that a red or black version of that dragon were coming down the line I'd wait anyway. I'm not buying multiples - too big, too pricey - and I would way rather have a black dragon... or a red one... in my collection than any other color.
I admire their ambition, sincerely, this is a historically cool project, but I just asked myself: would I be happy with/buy a dragon like, 2x the size of the moose and be happy at a pretty high price point and I honestly would, and if they staggered the releases, they might get me for a new color dragon every 18 months or two years for a long time. I hope like they've done with ogres and brutes they have plans for scaling down in the future cos they'd definitely get my money for a dragon I could display easier.
I prefer a red dragon to a green. Based on how easily this funds, I'm sure they want to make other color versions of it. Reuse is the name of game with this line. Even if this dragon barely funds, I assume they'll try another one. Certainly, a red dragon would get more backers. I think other colors would do as well as a green dragon. If and when they make other dragons, I hope they at least give them a different head sculpt.

They didn't do it for the 8" dragons.... but sure... maybe for $500 dragons they'll do some extra work 😉
How do they release something as simple as a barbarian build with alternate hair and tempt me so? He's just a ML He-man or Conan. Dang it.
I want that Barbarian very much.
That beardless head gives He-Man, Wun-Dar, and Conan depending on the hair color used. It is nicer than their previous He-Man analog they released, thats for sure.
Those similarities are for sure intentional. That's why I want it.
I think that dragon will fund, easily. I suppose shipping and whatever tax-of-the-week is in effect could hurt sales, but I expect a lot of the diehards to come through plus a few casuals.
That barbarian is looking mighty slick. I could be in for two, maybe more.
I honestly don't know if I want one barbarian i can just swap the heads out or if I really desperately want fake Conan and fake He-Man fighting goblins on the shelf side by side.
He looks incredible! Man, I really wish the 4H wouldn't make these awesome figures basically exclusives for cons or their website. They should all go to retail waves too. Still, gonna find a way to get it, if I have to import it myself. It's too good!

Well crap. I didn't read the fine print. Maybe I won't be able to get this after all. That's a real kick in the balls.
The good news for me is that apparently this is the first time in years that the 4H are attending San Diego Comic Con so maybe I'll have a chance to snag this guy there? Gotta get at least one to do the He-Man and/or Conan thing. Maybe... maybe I'll just get one and put the He-man head on the last guy they pretend was "not-He-Man" that had the long blond hair and the beard.
The dragon looks amazing, and it would normally be a definite buy. But the times we are living in are very uncertain at the moment, making this preorder window bad timing for me.
My biggest concern with the dragon is QC and engineering design. I have the exact same problem with most Creative Beast projects; most of their larger 2-legged dinosaurs can't even stand up without a stand propping them up. Bandai is usually top notch with S.H. Figuarts, but they also bit off more than they can chew with their giant-sized One Piece figures like Kaidou King of the Beasts. Huge, highly-articulated figures are just a new thing in the toy industry, and I'm expecting something about the dragon's engineering design to be lacking. Mattel's first crack at a 1:18 scale tyrannosaurus was lacking that they took a shortcut on by making the feet comically huge, but two years later their gigonotosaurus is a really solid figure with great proportions. It doesn't seem as though Creative Beast will ever match where Mattel has gotten with the Jurassic World Hammond Collection line, but I certainly hope CB's Cyberzoic line of armored dinos proves me wrong. The leg and particularly the ankle joint engineering challenges will be significant for the 4H dragon, and I'm skeptical they'll rise to the occasion. I particularly am not expecting them to knock it out of the park with a dragon that can stand on two feet like Mattel nailed with their Hammond Collection brachiosaurus.
Maybe the first dragon being green will turn out to be a blessing. We can wait for the reviews to see what ends up being wrong, and if the skepticism turns out to be unjustified then go for the better colors. If there are issues we'll feel like we dodged a bullet. Nobody wants a $550 figure hogging space that ends up feeling disappointing. But if they nail the engineering...WOW. This thing will rock. The sculpt certainly looks amazing.
