Interesting, the box contents list on BBTS only includes the jacket and arms for Bilbo and a quiver for Tauriel. Lowering the price and limiting accessories is a surprising sales tactic, I think. I will be disappointed if we don't get the book for Bilbo or a bow for Tauriel, but I do like saving $10.

It would be a bummer if they cut some of the accessories. I'm all for saving money as well, but I also want things that help give the most complete version of the character. I'm cool cutting things like a pipe or firework here and there, but a warrior elf with no weapons? A journeying Hobbit without a walking stick?  Doesn't feel right- the former especially. I hope it was just a miscommunication and all the original accessories will be included. I fear something like that is a line killer for a lot of folks. At least with something like the McFarlane DC Multiverse, there's enough extra accessories here and there to divide amongst figures who may come without, but such isn't the case here.

I pre ordered Bilbo and Tauriel, but I really hope they didn't cut out the accessories to lower the price point.  I'd say though it was just a communication problem, and the prices will be updated on all the e-tailer sites once it all gets sorted out.

this is likely, the HOTD figures are priced the same way, and the DST Instagram showed different accessories than the website, I think it’s just a miscommunication.

That's not a good sign. Curious to the thinking behind this switch.

And also another reason I NEVER pre-order ANYTHING from DST - you never know what you'll actually get. And that's absurd.

Does Bilbo's head look too small to anyone else? Likeness is good but it doesn't fit that body. I see Evangeline in Tauriel but it also doesn't exactly look like her?

After seeing the price of the Hobgoblin I mistakenly thought that the price of all the DST action figures had gone up to $35.

Pre orders for wave 8 have almost sold out on DST, a good sign I think!

it’s a huge shame the radicals free shipping and discount codes don’t work on pre-orders, a pretty massive downside to an otherwise great program.

Accessories are rarely 100% final for us when we solicit, but usually that means we are adding items to what you see -- we try to only show the items that are guaranteed. That said, as far as I know, Tauriel comes with a variety of weapons, and Bilbo comes with the swappable jacket, as well as a few other items. As soon as we have a production sample, we will show everything off.

And the individual figure price is still $29.99, it has been updated on our website. Only Marvel went up to $34.99 -- the packaging is bigger, and there are interchangeable parts and diorama bases to consider.

Wow just read that Diamond filed for bankruptcy. Not sure what and when the impacts will be felt on the LOTR line.

Zach, I hope and pray for the best for you and the other employees and their families. It’s got to be a stressful and rough time. Hopefully you have a lot more info than we do and were not completely blindsided.

Crazy news.

I would imagine its a separate company- if so, it would be able to exist independently. There may be issues in terms of distribution if they use the same distribution network.

Wow!

Zach I wish you the best. I hope the impact for you is minimal.

the press release says they are actively looking for a buyer for DST. Who wants to go in on it with me?
