I don't think I ever mentioned on here, but I did get Pip and Merry finishing off the Fellowship. I love all the accessories they came with, and it's great having the entire Fellowship.
I was watching Return of the King last night, and man I really want an Aragorn in his attire when they go to the black gates of Mordor and the Mouth of Sauron. That would be a perfect Wave of 2 even.
I am almost done with Rings of Power Season 2. I like Season 2 so much more than I did Season 1. Season 1 wasn't awful or anything. it was enjoyable to watch and looked beautiful. But there was a lack of something in season 1, as well as just some of the choices they made that didn't sit right.
Season 2 is way better. A sense of more important things occurring and urgency, I really like how Sauron is handled and portrayed, and again this Season looks beautiful in the way Middle Earth is captured. I've just had more fun watching Season 2 than I did season 1.
McFarlane is doing 3.75” figures for WOTR, I posted a picture on the Reddit. Spoiler: they look very bad.
@msword maybe a surprise announcement at NYCC? McFarlane has set the bar real low.
Yeah, those McFarlane figures look terrible... I REALLY hope that they also do a 7" scale or somebody else does a 6" or 7". Though, seeing the designs in figure form, they don't really excite me all that much. IF someone does them in a scale I want, I may pass anyways, unless they look better in realization.
Another odd decision by Todd. Part of me applauds him for trying so many different things, but part of me thinks instead of spreading himself too thin, he should just focus on what he's good at (which is plenty!). Then again, the WOTH movie strikes me as a bit of an odd, out-of-left-field project to begin with, but hey, kudos for trying new things. I currently don't feel the need for any figures, but I'll see how I feel after the movie. Is there another figure in the line we're missing? Can't tell if Hera comes with the torso and legs, or if the bottom part is just the back of the troll BAF.
Haven't gotten around to watching season 2 of Rings of Power yet, but I'm excited based on all the stuff I heard about it. I liked season 1, and I'd still take figures based on it, though admittedly they're low on the list, at least until we get through a few more waves of LOTR/Hobbit
@msword That's good to hear! I was hoping we would've seen a pic of Tauriel or Bilbo from SDCC panel by now, but I'm excited to see them at NYCC
I hope we find out whether Eowyn comes with an unhelmeted head soon!
DST is setting up their NYCC booth! Posted a very small Bilbo tease! Looks like wave 9 is on the menu!
First look at old Bilbo and Tauriel, plus Gandalf the White, Witchking and Eowin. They look really nice.

Thanks for sharing. Overall they look pretty good. Hoping for some better shots of Tauriel. I love that it looks like they are giving Bilbo two looks BUT with the way some things seem to get cut I am going to set my expectations low and plan on the jacket and extra arms getting cut so I don’t get disappointed. I am really hoping Diamond proves me wrong though.
Really hoping that Eowyn’s unhelmeted is lying around there somewhere.
That old Bilbo looks great, almost tempted to get 2 for the different attires.
I don't understand how every toy manufacturer always makes Gandalf the White clothes too yellow, I get that they were ever so slightly cream, but they'd have been better as white with a dark wash.
Same for the hair, it is ever so slightly blonde in the movies, but not yellow like the figure's hair.
Gandalf looks like he lives in a house with several chainsmokers.
Tauriel looks good though!
Did you all see McFarlane is doing a helms deep play set in scale with its 4” line? It’s cardboard but still seems really fun for kids.
I think they all look pretty good! Old Bilbo I'll probably just get one of for the unjacketed vest look. That's what I think of when I think Old Bilbo, whereas the jacket I associate more with Martin Freeman Bilbo.
Tauriel looks great; I'm hoping for a little better range of motion than Legolas, but since I don't have too much shelf space anyway, she'll probably just be vanilla posing for a bit.
Eowyn looks nice. I still haven't decided which head I'd display her with if she came with both; she had the helmet on for most of her screen time in that outfit, but the iconic moment is when she takes it off. Would be a bummer for her not to come with it, as I think the helmet still makes her come off a bit too "generic Rohan soldier" (which, granted, is the point), but still.
Witch King looks great and appropriately imposing. I'm sure he'll look even cooler with the flaming sword too.
Good to see Gandalf again. It doesn't bother me that he isn't stark white. I could totally be misremembering, but I feel like the only time we saw him with stark white was for his first appearance in TTT. After that, it just got progressively dirtier. I'm cool with this being a Pelennor Fields Gandalf. It just feels so long since he was unveiled, and with no concrete release window in sight. I hope we don't just see him haunting the next few cons; I'd be cool with a single release versus sticking him in a wave at this point. Unless we get a 3 figure wave, he'd be series 11 at the earliest, and that feels too far off.
