Some updates from the DST site:
merry and Pippin are now pre-order processing, should see them in hand next week.
Frodo, Nazgûl, and Gandalf reissues are listed, but no indication what, if anything, has changed with them.
Phenomenal job, @grinman! Seeing things like that, or Landspeeder Luke, makes me so bummed I don't have even the slightest inkling of customizing talent. Hot dang, my shelves would be STACKED with figures if I did. Especially knowing how slim the chances of ever getting the entire Dwarf company is, and even if we somehow did, it wouldn't be for a good decade or so. I like the idea of doing the 3-packs; even one a year for one of the big cons or something feels like it could be doable, and make them as barebones as possible. I'd love at least one weapon for each, but if it came down to it, I'd rather just have them. Weapons can at least be 3D printed or something

I'm so glad I asked for it - those are way better than I thought! 🙂 The likenesses are really strong from what I remember, which again, isn't much for these characters, but I can tell who at least half of them are.
I think DST is totally capable of getting all of these characters out - I keep forgetting they are all dwarves so a three-pack isn't a totally inconceivable idea! Especially, as this shows, design them with overlays and limited articulation and BAM - totally acheiveable! Proof of concept above. 🙂
@msword Are you still planning to have series 9 at SDCC? I'm beyond excited to see what's on the table!
And thanks everybody for the kind words about the dwarf customs! I can see ways I'd improve them now... and ways I'd possible approach them differently, but I'm happy with most of them. I do need to finish them, though.
We should see wave 9 tonight at preview night.
EDIT: I don’t think DST is doing a preview, I haven’t seen anything from their set up.
I saw a video walkthrough of the booth, despite claims saying they would be there there are no new LOTR figures.

Looks like Eowyn is only coming with a helmeted head (14/15 minute mark)
They only just had their panel, right? Maybe they'll be putting some stuff out on display after
DST was a total bust with LOTR this SDCC but that ROP season 2 trailer was awesome!
