You put the wrong hats on the wrong ducks LOL but thanks for the pictures!!

I could say I was flustered by the arm falling off, but I honestly didn’t notice. 😀

Sorry about the arm!

Me too, and one of his feet broke off later.  I really hope I just got a lemon and this isn’t indicative of overall QC for the line.  Negaduck has held up fine.

Edit! How did you get vintage DW to hold his accessories?

Blue tack for the gun.  Just shoved the binoculars between his fingers.

For those waiting for some impressions, Toy Shiz has a video review up:

Toyshiz’s review captured my frustrations with these figures as well.  I didn’t notice the paint issues as much, but very limited articulation and frustration of working with the accessories while trying to get the figures to stand, not to mention permanently detaching arms, makes me sad because I think this all greatly decreases the likelihood of this line continuing.

However, the bigger issue that many people aren’t going to buy at all because they think these are statues due to the initial promotional images that DST never bothered to replace.  Just look at the comments on Toyshiz’s video, I’ve seen this same sentiment all over.  I just don’t understand why DST has done little or nothing to address this perception.  Poor marketing may be the biggest hurdle this product has to overcome.

When you get them into a good pose, these figures look cool on a shelf, and that is all I personally want, so I really hope this line beats the odds and continues with more characters. And if it fails, it won’t be because people aren’t interested in Darkwing Duck.

They do seem to be selling well. I have no idea how many were ordered, but EE sold out of their first batch, and BBTS only has 14 preorders left.

I haven't received mine yet. I'm hoping for good things, but early reviews are concerning.

@scottg10 I don't disagree about the marketing. It would almost be better to not have pictures at all than attach misleading ones instead. Just a lot of confusion among people who aren't on toy forums or social media groups. I think the figures look pretty nice, but definitely look like they needed a little more time in the oven. DW really could use a third head as I noticed how sleepy he looks with his hat on before Toy Shiz even pointed it out. Hopefully Diamond takes the constructive feedback it receives on this set and puts it towards making whatever is next better.

This is a pet peeve of mine, but a sell out doesn’t really mean anything unless you know how many were ordered/produced and how that compares to other, similar products and/or manufacturer expectations.  I do hope it is a positive sign, though.

Diamond Select does not shy away from canceling products that are under-ordered. They just won't produce them. And I imagine Entertainment Earth and BBTS are probably two of their biggest customers. So I take it as a good sign. But like I said in the original comment, I have no idea how much they ordered.

The set sold out in our warehouse, so I think it did well. I'm sure we'll produce more of this set, not sure what our plans are for more characters.

Great review! Thanks for sharing! Toy Shiz hit on all the major points.

Msword, please impart to your colleagues how much we'd like to see other characters from this show, especially ones that haven"t already been produced in plastic. As a larger character, Taurus Bulba would be great in this larger scale, either the suited version or the Cyborg version...or both!

I donno if I'll buy this 2pk. I enjoyed the show, and I have the versions from.. was it Funko? If I had a wishlist, beyond Darkwing and Negaduck, I'd wan Gosalyn, Launchpad, GizmoDuck, Megavolt, Bushroot, Morgana, maybe Quackerjack and Liquidator. That's it tho. I just don't have many other figures, if any, that these two existing figures would fit with.

That's why I was suggesting Bulba. As a larger figure, he'd fit in both with this new scale and the classic scale of the smaller Funko and Playmates lines...so every fan would want him, regardless of which of the three lines they prefer or collect.

Plus, he's from the pilot episodes and helped introduce Gosalyn! So he's the OG.

And he's never been made before. He could come with some cool accessories too, in his cyborg form.

Those other DW characters are also great, of course, and would be great to see.

I got my Darkwing Duck set today. I really like it! I want more. But It is not without its shortcomings.

First, you guys were not kidding about how big that box is! I was shocked when this large BBTS box came, because I didn't have that much in my POL. I don't mind the box, but I don't think it was necessary to go that big either. A tray of accessories behind the figures would have been fine.  😉   But I got a good laugh out of it.

I love Negaduck. I have wanted a Negaduck for so long, and I am excited to add him to my collection.  I think they just about nailed it. For some reason I find him much easier to pose, probably because his accessories are so diverse, and his eyes are looking forward. I can get him to hold his gun and chainsaw in a two handed pose, and I'm happy with that.

Darkwing really needed a third head. Take one of them away from Negaduck. He needed a aggressive head with eyes looking forward. The side eye is difficult to pose. And a hand holding a match with a flame would have been awesome! I really like his gun though. They did a really good job on the interchangeable accessories. A bit heavy, but they included a stand to help with that.  It's a less than desirable solution, but a solution none the less.

I really appreciate the two capes (Straight and flowing). I did have to really heat the collars up and mold them around the characters shoulders to get them to sit properly. As they cool they hold their shape. The cutout on the chest of the figure to peg the cape seems unnecessary, as there isn't much of a peg, and I could never get it to fit.

The hats aren't great. They do not fit the heads well. It's another Playmates situation where the hats sit way to high. I have not come up with a solution for that, so in the meantime I display them without them. They do look really good hatless though. The tuff of feathers on the top of their heads is a nice touch, and it's a look I've wanted for a long while. So I'm good with it.

I took everyone's cautions seriously, and really took my time heating each joint before I moved it. I didn't have any breakages as a result. Everything moves well. I do wish we could at least get a 90 degree bend in the elbow. A little extra cut out in that area would have provided that. No extra cost needed, just a little extra time in engineering.

Overall, I am pleased with my purchase. Negaduck stole the show for me, and I have a feeling he will sit on my desk for a long while. I hope they make more. These don't scale well with Playmates, so I have no characters to go with them, and I would really like some. A Quakerjack and Megavolt 2-pack would be amazing!

A happy ending to my story of woe, EE sent me a new set as a replacement without requiring a return, so once I repair the broken DW, I’ll have two of each figure to display with the different heads and accessories.

@msword Very happy to hear more are planned.  I hope DST takes the feedback from this set into account for future figures.
