So, I didn't see another thread for this. I believe the Kickstarter is still active with a week to go - but BBTS just listed the figures on their site as well.
It's yet another 1/12-ish scale line of Barbarian figures being done. The body styles remind me a little of what Xesray Studios was doing with their gladiators - thick chests...
It's very clear they wanted to do Conan, two of the figures seem pretty Conan adjacent, Croman and Kronen - different takes on barbarians. The line also includes a warrior with a native american motif, one that's a bit more african warrior inspired (though not totally), a red headed viking guy - and a couple of more generic plain bodies.
Anyway, I'm a sucker for the furry shorts and big muscles type of deal - so I pre-ordered a few of these with BBTS. They'll probably be too small to fit with my MOTU Classics stuff, so may have to find their own corner somewhere... but they seem fun to me.
The kickstarter still has 6 days to go and some of the tiers that are as yet not unlocked also look like they would be really fun - the next one is the Great Khan - a mongolian inspired warrior... that one is only $900 away from unlocking... from there the next unlock would be the Owl King, which is a fun look, then the Sumerian and then a Darth Vader homage called General Grimskull (that seems like a bridge too far, though).
I tried adding some images, but it didn't work out. But I recommend taking a peek over at BBTS.
Great Khan is unlocked now, so I went ahead and ordered myself one at Big Bad.
Saw a video on youtube showing off their range of motion so they look they’re gonna he a lot of fun to mess with and seriously: a cool Mongol warrior with that kind of arm movement for $40?! Can’t say no to that!
I was taken aback by how "thick" they were initially but they grew on me quick. Really like the head sculpts on a lot of them.
First time Kickstarter creators, though, so the pledge will have to be fairly low. Have to see how things go with this initial campaign.
There's an added cost and I'm sure the wait will be longer, but I'm more comfortable going the bbts route and preordered a couple from there. Might add more. Owl King will be added to bbts' preorder according to Harkness, once he gets the chance to send them the info.
As much as I like Masterverse, this body shape is much closer to what I wanted to see. I didn't even need any fancy articulation like butterfly shoulders from Mattel. Just some guys with slabs of muscle. Wish the female figure was closer to funding.
These look cool, kinda want the not-Conan figure. Are there any pics of these prototypes next to a Masterverse figure? I think I would put these on the same shelf as those and my cosmic/mythic legions figures.
Read right past the BBTS news in PantherCult's post. That will be the way forward for me. Shipping costs haven't been unveiled for KS - with BBTS' POL option, the cost might come out pretty even.

Slides 3-5 are what you're looking for.

Robo looked at one of their prototypes in a recent "play day" video, though I don't remember if he compared them to Masterverse or not.
The Owl guy sucked me in. I backed that crazy warrior.
Thwipp!

He did. It was during a Play-Day about 3 weeks ago. They are going to be notably smaller than Masterverse. Definitely more in the scale range of Marvel Legends as best I could tell. The prototype was almost the same height as ML Hercules, but much beefier.
I ended up pre-ordering like four or five of these things on BBTS. Couldn't resist. I did skip the Conan-looking one because I really don't need a Conan-style figure with a big ol' bird tattoo on his chest. The variant skull face almost made me change my mind - but nah.
Placed an order for a couple through BBTS. Their markup isn't much and it's worth the piece of mind to know I'm not out even more money of this fails to deliver.
Loving the beefy men but NEED the beefy women! Hoping, praying Athena is unlocked, along with other Barbarian women.
I honestly wouldn't have thought the Athena stretch goal was remotely possible... but we're only $2K shy of getting General Grimskull right now... so with 3 days left, I suppose there's still a chance this could make it all the way to Athena. Especially once backerkit add ons start happening.
I'm about to order some of the new guys at BBTS now and will add Grimskull once he unlocks.
Everything that's still locked is really neat. It's very possible that Grimskull and the shadow army builders give it a big boost, I don't know. They've also been lowering the amount needed for Athena. These guys sound ambitious and I think they want Athena unlocked, so I'm optimistic. From doing minimal research, there's a lot of people saying they want Athena, so even if she's not unlocked now, I imagine they'll make her eventually.
Having said that, I wish they'd just unlock Athena and the female barbarians now, lmao. I'd throw a hundred bucks at it instantly for the ladies. Nobody is doing muscular, articulated female figures, not on the regular. Especially if I can change their gear like on the male bodies, I'd be all-in on it
PS: I'm a little frustrated I can't find any social media accounts for this company, I'd RT them like mad. They're dropping the ball in that regard.
We're past evil skull guy now by a few grand. I can see a path toward actually unlocking the female character. I kind of hope they're willing to do split delivery dates on this like the Savage Crucible KS did so as not to overload the factory, and themselves, with too many figures at once and end up having to push delivery back for the entire thing. But I guess we'll see.
I really love the look of Athena, but my own concern there is the comment that they were going to keep her bulked up, but make her a little thinner at the waist (forgot which YT vidcast this was). I fucking hate the corset-torso every goddamn action figure female is carved into. And it typically looks like fucking ass too. So, hopefully after they make the adjustment on the digital sculpt they realize it doesn't look good and leave well enough alone. But we shall see.
I really love the look of the render for Uruk - but also I am skeptical of how the armor is going to look (even though it's my favorite thing about the figure). I worry the ability to keep him articulated is going to turn the armor into a comical belly shirt whenever you try to pose him at all. Much as I'd like to PO that one, I almost would rather wait to see how the prototype turns out first. Not that I don't have enough of these things on order already.
