I actually customize my own figures sometimes, that's what I was kind of referring to. I'll pop off legs and arms and heads and move them around and paint them and such. But I get it. It would be interesting to see how far it can go with a bigger catalog. But again, probably too expensive for me to buy a whole lot of them. A 1 off here and there maybe, like Sonia because I really like the character. But I wouldn't be able to buy a ton of them.
If you look at Boss Fight's Epic HACKS Court of the Dead Kier (Valkyrie) figure they debuted recently (that's the new 6" one, not the original 4" one), it seems pretty obvious she uses a lot of Red Sonja parts (because it looks like Red Sonja is using a lot of the new Epic HACKS female base body).
Can you post photos of that? I can't seem to find anything but the 4" figure online.
Also, do we not have a general 1/12 scale Boss Fight thread?

TNI has pics up. It was from this year's Power-Con: https://toynewsi.com/384-49111
That Valkyrie does look really cool, even unpainted. And so do the blank bodies. If only I were rich lol.
BBTS said Sonja is delayed until late 4th quarter. 🙁
Not the worst news, but I am definitely disappointed.
Most places had her slated for October. BBTS just said 3rd quarter or whatever. I'm gonna hope she's still slated for October and BBTS is just trying to be safe with their guesstimate. Does suck if she's pushed back a bit. As long as she's not cancelled.
So BBTS put up a preorder for a smaller scale version of this now. Some of the articulation is a little different and his less accessories, but it looks generally like the same figure. I pre-ordered it too cause it's coming out next year and I'm just a sucker for Sonja.
@wildmaiden Yeah that's less encouraging. Not liking the rosy cheeks or the teeth being that individuated. Here's hoping they take another crack at that.
I canceled 2 of the regulars and 1 b&w on friday. One of the figures I was looking forward to the most this year is now a wait and see. I cautiously kept the 1/18 preorder so far.
Yikes. Usually I find folks are hyperbolic af complaining about figures but yeah, um, those heads look awful. Might well cancel mine too.
Oof, yeah. That is not a premium looking figure to justify the price. That's got me wondering if I should keep my Court of the Dead Death pre-order...
Ok yea, that screaming head looks fuckin bad. I have no excuses for that. It looks squished, and the teeth don't look great. The neautral head isn't bad, but it needs the rosey cheeks gone. I think without those it'd be better. I'll still grab it cause I like rest. Maybe I'll see what the LC head looks like on it. Or maybe do a little repainting.
*edit* After further examination, I can't believe this will be the final figure. If you look at basically every joint, most of them have paint coming off of them and are showing the plastic color underneath. Why would they not cast the joints in fleshtone and keep this paint rub from happening? But the knees are pinless like I thought they'd be. So, I'm definitely keeping my preorder. But I am hoping someone gets an early one for a review sometime before release so I can make a final decision. And worse comes to worse, as I said above, I can use the body and maybe find a different head. Maybe someone will come out with a head cast I can paint myself. Although, if all the heads need are paint, it'd probably just be easier to fix these problems. But maybe the new cast will look better? And on a final note, at the bottom of the picture it says "not final product, early developement sample subject to change." So they are most likely gonna tweak this.
They might tweak it, but keep in mind two things. First, the renders used in solicitation usually look better than the actual plastic does, so it's unlikely this figure will look like the promotional pics. And secondly, they chose to show us these paint samples, probably not because they felt they were terrible and wanted the criticism, but because they closely represent the final product. I hope they fix it, but this figure has already been delayed... I'm not optimistic.
What's that saying? You can put rosy cheeks on a pig, but it's still a pig. That figure looks terrible! Pre-order is cancelled and I'll wait for youtube reviews, but I'm not hopeful. The simple fact that they showed these pics means this is probably pretty close to what will be released. Why show these horrible pics otherwise?
