Very nice, and the early bird price is pretty good. Not sure about that price for the bridge layer add-on though, seems a bit high, but I guess with the engineering and parts count it is pricey to make. Shame that the blast effects are only going to be added in if they reach a certain number of backers. Hopefully they can make it.
I'm torn because I would love to get in on this, but being in Canada and a couple of big ticket items coming up during Con season means I may have to pass. Maybe some of the big ticket items will be too expensive and I'll change my mind.
I had pretty much talked myself out of this as I don't *really* need a big tank with attachments and it's been an expensive year so far. Buuuut, I wasn't banking on the deposit option - makes it a lot more tempting to just go for it and make most of the expense future-me's problem.
I'm nowhere close to having enough space for what I currently have though, and a big 'ol tank certainly isn't going to help. Hmmm..
I’m in. That shipping is expensive. Free Haslab shipping for big ticket items spoiled me. But we pretty much have a year and a half to set aside some cash for this thing if going by the payment option plan. While the blast effects are nice, I am neutral on it as the base tank and the options are the bread and butter to me so if it doesn’t happen, it’s all good. Now we just have to wait.
So we still get the early bird pricing even if we don't pay in full now? If so then putting down the deposits and having a year to set aside the rest isn't bad. That shipping hurts but the price of the base tank was much cheaper than I expected.
Yeah, that shipping charge is tough. The early bird prices are great (though I agree the Bridge Layer add-on seems steep) but then the shipping gets added in and it's a tougher call.
Hunter tank and Bridge Layer are $320 shipped for me. (Not sure if they're charging tax. It didn't come up for me but maybe it's another step in the checkout process.) The total cost honestly isn't unreasonable for both pieces.
And then there's the issue of space ...
It didn’t show any taxes charged in the order confirmation email I got. Hopefully it stays that was when the tank finally ships. Paying the shipping fee was already big enough.
What kinda shipping is anyone getting to the US? The Ramen Racer was a flat $50 I believe.
@h-bird, I was all-in (minus the Amphisbaena) and my shipping came to $118. Maybe someone who just got the tank can say if it was less for just the one item (which I assume is the case).
As for display size, I was happy to finally see official measurements. At 22" x 10.5" x 7.5" it should fit very tidily on my display bookcase. That's just the tank, though. Not sure if I'll be able to display it so easily as a Wolverine or a Bridge Layer.
Shipping was $50 for just the tank and then $90 for the tank and bridge-layer add-on for me. Like I said earlier, the $320 total cost for both isn't unreasonable but I don't know what the justification could be for a $90 shipping charge.
Ramen should really address the shipping issue. It seems to me if you bundle all of the stuff together it should be closer to 70 than 90 or 120.
At a guess, I don't think Ramen has any US warehouses, so all their stuff is mailed from overseas.
I've never ordered anything from them, so it's a big guess. Ace did a video addressing shipping not too long ago, but it was specifically about the Ramen Racer so I didn't bother watching it.
I just ordered the tank, and the bridge layer and wolverine pieces. The shipping system is bad. You can buy 2 Tanks shipped for $37 less than One tank, bridge layer, and Wolverine pieces since every piece has it's own shipping.
2 tanks @140x2=$280+$90 Shipping=$370
1 Tank @$140+ 1 Bridge@$89.95+ 1 Wolverine@$60= $289.95+$118Shipping = $407.95
Hopefully future purchases will work out better than this, ie the Bread Car.
Feels like Ramen is falling into that same pit Hasbro did. Their tanks are only $200 but their chargers are $300? Not sure any car should cost more than a tank. Glad there’s options out there but that’s a real struggle to see the value difference between the two.
@buttmunch The tanks don't have lights or sound and that's the thing maxing them out. Those electronics parts are PRICEY. Trust me on this. I run a makerspace and we occasionally buy these little soldering electronics kits for training and the amount they've gone up in the past few years is astonishing. Little blinking lights and a bit of noise add a lot to the cost.
You can't think of it as though a tank and a car are different in real life. In toys it's all about features, number of different types of plastic used (like the difference between windshields and body panels), paint hits, and other engineering things.
