The trailer just came out today and im so pumped! We got a new Supes actor too. He seems ok, would have to see his acting abilities on the screen to judge him. The easter eggs i did see was lex, Mr terrific, lois lane and Krypto the dog, hawk man and a weird creature/monster?

I think Krypto should have been alittle bigger seems kinda puny for a superdog but thats the only thing i see bad SO FAR.

And Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner.

I dunno. I'm glad you guys are excited for it, but I'm reserving judgement for a proper trailer so I can get a better sense of plot and tone. It's cool that Clark and Kal aren't exactly the same outside of glasses at least. The only thing I'll admit to being bothered by was my excitement for the other characters overshadowing the title guy.

Also I believe that is Hawkgirl, not Hawkman.

Krypto!

Superman protecting the girl from the explosion, that's the Superman I want to see.

Physics annoyance - Supes should have created a larger crater in the snow/ice.

I don't think this movie's for me, so I'm not going to shit on anybody's enthusiasm, but as long as we're just talking...

I'm okay with skipping the origin stories of some of the biggest names in comics, but this seems too deep into the timeline of what is supposed to be the start of the DCCU. We seem to be starting with Clark and Lois already a couple, plus Krypto. Toss in Guy Gardner, Hawkgirl, Mr. Terrific and the Engineer, and I feel like I'm already coming in late to the story.

That's kinda where I am, but ready for a full trailer to prove me wrong. But I may be expecting too much from that trailer.

Not a Superman fan, but I'm more interested in this than any of the previous DC stuff.  It was pretty visually different than the last few movies.  It looks wonderfully bright and well-lit, unlike 95% of the movies coming out lately.

I think Superman: The Movie really did a number on all future comic book films because it was written like the biography of Superman from his birth onwards and created an epic feel to the character. As easily the only truly good comic book movie in the first 60 some years of cinema, it set the standard template, which included "the origin".

Then Batman (Burton) with the flashback to the Wayne's being killed and Spider-Man (Raimi) with Uncle Ben's death - suddenly every "serious" comic film needed the "origin" story. The problem is that you need Superman's story to be epic - and explaining the obligation he felt he had that came with his power, and you need Batman and Spider-Man being driven by those deaths. But most comic character origins are just "hey, here is why they have powers"*. Most can be explained, if needed, in a few lines, as they rarely truly motivate the characters the way the above three examples do, and the origin is just a factual explanation of how we got here, and not a building block for the characterization.

All of which is to say I think jumping right into the DCU is fine. Give me the 45 seconds of dialog to explain how Guy Gardiner or Mr. Terrific came to be - because why they came to be is not that important - and move on.

*Part of the surprising success of Iron Man and Captain America was that they took the framework of their origin stories and really used to that define their character motivations and arcs all the way to the end. I think this is one reason those characters resonated so well, as compared to say Thor or Hawkeye or Ant Man, etc. who if we came to care about them, it was not because of how they got their abilities or how that experience shaped them, but the events that.

I like Superman.  Whenever there is a new take on Superman, I'm rooting for it to succeed.  After seeing this teaser, I'm looking forward to seeing more.

As a Superman fan myself, I will give this one a chance. I’ll be going in with loooww expectations but hoping to be surprised like how Transformers One surprised me. Superman is a bright hero and I need to see more of that nowadays since most of the other heroes seem so dark, grounded, serious, and such. Nothing wrong with that as those heroes definitely have their place and I’m a big fan of most them too, but when almost everyone is doing it……..a change of pace would be nice.

I like this reasoning, especially if it is indicative of the direction they are going.

From Den of Geek:

The Reason Superman’s Suit is so Colorful

Gunn also revealed why he chose to go for the classic primary color Superman suit, complete with outside swimming trunks. While looking at the red, blue, and yellow comics-inspired creation, the director was worried by just how colorful it was, and of course those iconic red pants. But his fears were assuaged when his Superman actor, Corenswet, came out with a profound statement.

“He’s an alien from outer space who’s super powerful, who doesn’t want children to be afraid of him,” Gunn recalled the actor telling him.

It clearly made a massive impact on the director. “It touched me in the moment, and it touches me now,” Gunn added. “That’s who he is, and that’s where the costume comes from, and that goes along with Jerry [Siegel] and Joe [Shuster] ‘s original vision, harkening back to wrestlers in the circus. That’s who Superman is, and he has a reason why his costume is so colorful. It’s because he doesn’t want to scare children. He’s got red beams that come out of his eyes and he can blow over things with his breath. He doesn’t want to be scary to children.”

I agree with this BUT i hope they dont do the "comedy route" (too much jokes) like Guardians of the galaxy did. every damn superhero movie is doing the "comedy bit" theme lately, i hate that!
