It's my opinion that "just punch them more" makes for very boring movies. I'm not crazy excited for Thunderbolts, but I do appreciate that this movie is set up that they have to find a different way of stopping him.
Agreed. I don't need a lot of punching, but yeah they will absolutely have to find another way with him. Likely involving sympathizing.
*The Avengers Are Not Available
Oh, man; I foresee a lot of Vonnegut references in this flick.
@ru1977 Yeah, a movie with heroes who are trying to redeem themselves fighting a guy they can't go toe-to-toe with in a fight possibly being manipulated/engineered who also needs to be redeemed - seems like the resolution may not be fighting...but the friends we make along the way...
Watch Thunderbolts be a surprise hit and make a billion. but half the cast is dead so a sequel isn't as sure a thing as usual.
Depending on where they want to go with Yelena, I could see Red Guardian being another casualty - he could be the one to have the heroic death to galvanize the team...and leave Yelena like Natasha needing a team.
I would say it's clear we're supposed to think Taskmaster dies. I could be completely wrong but I THINK the scenes with everyone, including Bucky, at the tower come AFTER they all first meet and encounter Bob, and Taskmaster has been shown in the tower scenes. Maybe she dies in the tower, maybe sentry tears her in half, maybe she leaves with Val, maybe she was falsely inserted, dunno.
Also interesting that Yelena appears to walk INTO the Void's darkness, but it's really hard for me to put a lot of faith in trailers anymore.
Unless she arrives separately and is the one that remains the most loyal to Val. She's at that one location, not shown in the limo, elevator, or tied with the others by Bucky. But if they didn't insert her in the tower, then maybe she's there as Val's agent, dunno.
For the record, it's completely logical that she dies and dies early. Totally. And it's the most likely answer. I'm just playing devil's advocate.
Apparently Cap 4 tried to veer away from political controversy but it's getting protested anyway.
Just saw the new Captain America. If I had to give my impression in 2 words I'd say Uninspired / Unimpressed.
It's not a bad movie, but there's nothing special about it either. There is 1 thing I did hate:
A fun movie, should be in the 65-70% range for movie scores. It doesn't nearly deserve the vitriol it's been getting. But at this point people are well aware of why that is, even if they won't admit it.
I saw Brave New World last night and liked it. I'd give it a B. Tonally it reminded me of The Winter Soldier, which imo is still the best Cap film. After The Marvels I've mostly checked out of reading or caring about what other people think about these movies or shows. I'm there to be entertained, not to run back to the internet and list all of the aspects of a production I didn't like. Excited to see more of Joaquin Torres from here.

Respect.
should I be Cap/should I have had the super soldier serum crap. Wasn't the entire point of the Disney series for him to get past this? Re-hashing it again after he's now been Captain America for years is just stupid.
So I think, honestly, we get this because there is some acknowledgement/push from the studio that a big segment of movie audience doesn't participate in the Disney+ content and so rehashing these ideas that were explored in the serialized show content is necessary for movie audiences. But it's a bummer for the part of the audience that participates with all of the content for the reasons you talk about.
