@sepster Thank you!
For what it's worth, the marvel spoiler reddit I check daily rates Sneider as 60-something% accurate with scoops etc. So he could well be right about everything else and the Silver Surfer part falls into the 40% for all we know. And from what I can see, he's the only one making that claim.
I know the Madame Web trailer is an easy target but I don't see many criticizing the song choice. Nothing against the song and I actually like some of Eilish's songs quite a bit (I appreciate when my girls listen to her over Olivia Rodrigo... and nothing against HER either but I just find her lyrics depressing in a bad way and one note), but that song and the way they used it in the trailer did the opposite of getting me excited to see the movie. It gets me chilled out and just wanting to relax at home and not go to the theater.
Sony casting Sydney Sweeney as a mousy nerd was certainly a choice.
Taika says he won't be doing Thor 5, and Daniel Cretton stepped down from directing Kang Dynasty to focus more on other Marvel projects such as the Wonder Man series.
The first step toward canceling Kang Dynasty altogether. Or at least making that Avengers movie without him.
The Pedro Pascal casting gets a big thumbs up from me. John Krasinski is not a movie star. The age gap between Pascal and Vanessa Kirby is bigger than you'd like, though. I also love Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Thing. He's typecast as a greasy working-class guy in most things, but his performance in The Bear is proof that he's got enough charm to make Ben Grimm work.
As fine as the first Ant-Man movie was, Quantumania did nothing to dissuade me from the idea that Ant-Man never needed a stand-alone film at all, let alone a film franchise. That, Eternals, and Age of Ultron are my three least favorite Marvel movies in some order.
Â
I wonder how much Kras not wanting the role is due to Emily not getting the Sue role.

Another one is Loveness, who wrote Quantumania and was writing Kang Dynasty, no longer being employed by Marvel Studios.

I'm really cool with those castings as well, though I'm still skeptical until officially announced. The scoopers and leakers have beaten the FF casting thing so hard the last couple years that I'm pretty numb to it. But I completely agree about Ebon. I admit I watched the show Girls, and he was a real standout in that as well. And of course Andor.
Kirby I have never seen in anything so I can't judge at all. The age difference is there but in my eyes, she's on the right side of 30 for it to not be THAT creepy.

I wouldn't expect that to be much of a factor. Do we know if she was ever even up for the role? It seems like something he did just for fun, once, and moved on.

I thought they showed some remarkable restraint in not going for the obvious full body shot of her in the Spider-Woman outfit to sell the movie.

Does Reed need to be a movie star? I feel like he should be more of a character actor type. I think Krasinski would have been fine, although not my first choice.

I think a lot of fans, likely because of something Marvel did, have been waiting for a new 'leader' of the MCU after Endgame. Some really don't want Larsen, Boseman is gone, Rudd's last one bombed, I'm guessing Hemsworth too goofy, Cumberbatch I dunno... but I assume some were hoping for Reed to be a new figurehead? But I really don't see why there needs to be one. Maybe a handful would be nice but I dunno. I just want to see these characters on screen together so I barely care about solo movies anymore.Â

Plenty of that in that HBO show she's on. If Sony wants you to think "mousy nerd", your suspension of disbelief is going to have to work overtime.

I watched New Rockstars' interview with Iman Vellani and she is without a doubt my favorite person in the MCU. I've really gotta go see Marvels.
Good luck with that since it's getting run out of theaters faster than PeeWee Herman was.
Plenty of theaters in my area still have showtimes all week. Maybe I can sneak one today.
I didn't end up seeing The Marvels and honestly I can't be bothered to at this point. Guess I'll wait until it hits streaming. First MCU movie I've ever said that about, but man...I am really just feeling lukewarm about most comic book stuff these days.Â
I subscribed to Disney+ so I can finally watch Ahsoka and Loki season 2 but it's been a real struggle for me to get around to it. I'd rather be playing Baldur's Gate 3 🤣Â
I just finished Loki season 1 again and ready to do season 2 a second time. Really excited to get back into it.
I enjoyed Ahsoka. Some parts I enjoyed A LOT, some were okay, and some were slow, but if you only watch one of the two I'd say Loki season 2.
New Doctor Who is more of the reason I will be keeping D+ for the next few months than either MCU or SW stuff.Â
