@docsilence seriously agree. And welcome to the movie section!!!
The one true bummer about this being a Disney+ product now instead of Netflix is that I wasn't immediately able to go to Episode 3... having to wait a whole week for the next chapter, excruciating ...
One thing that I think is a bit of a bummer is that Daredevil didn't get folded in the MCU proper until after Natasha Romanoff is dead. Daredevil and Black Widow were a thing in the comics for a not-insubstantial amount of time, so it would have been fun to have at least some nod to that in the show... if Nat were, y'know, still alive.
@panthercult definitely agree about Widow, and I bet Cox and Johanson would have had great chemistry, even if just one episode. Maybe if Angela takes up as White Tiger, she can fulfill some of that, I dunno.
And hard agree on waiting a week. Most shows, I wait to start watching until the week of the finale anymore but cannot wait for this one like that. So they got me.
I think I might be the last person on earth who actually loves not being able to binge. Especially with shows that people are inclined to spoil online - I can watch the new episode ASAP and not have anything ruined for me and that makes me so much less stressed.
Would've been nice to see Matty and Nat meet up, but honestly, Murdock pulls, so there's a ton of fascinating relationships they could explore from the comics.
It's true. He is a deeply devoted manslut. The bit with him doing the walk of shame may have been my favorite moment in She Hulk, and I enjoyed that entire season.
@ru1977 The walk of shame might be the most in-character thing they've ever done with him. Dude pulls, but as the old saying goes, his d*** has led him to places a normal person wouldn't go to with a gun.
(Daredevil is my absolute favorite Marvel character. He's such a hot mess.)
@docsilence mine too. When I was a kid, it was Spider-Man, but now it's firmly Matt. I love that hot mess.
@ru1977 Oh, Spidey's got a permanent special place in my heart because he really represents the truest kind of superhero archetype. But as an ex-Catholic, ex-boxer with horrific vision and some righteous anger issues named Matt... Basically when I was younger I was like "well this is a superhero that fits MY brain perfectly."
(I even looked into law school and worked as a litigation assistant for a hot minute when I was younger but noooooooped my way out of that idea fast.)
@docsilence That is all awesome. Yeah, the Catholic thing speaks to me as well. Daredevil also, especially on the Netflix show, is one of the few superheroes where I feel the supporting cast are almost as important as the hero himself. I'm sure there are others beyond Aunt May and Alfred, but Daredevil's feel completely needed. Even with that in mind, I'm still ready to give this season it's, uh huh huh, day in court.
I think the Netflix series did something really remarkable with making sure the supporting casts for all the shows (even Iron Fist - heck I I liked the other characters more than Danny) had real life, value, and stakes. It grounded them as much if not more than just their being street-level heroes.
There's a single line in episode 2 of Born Again that clanged around in my head as sounding absolutely ridiculous, but I reckon it's also there to acknowledge that even when they were still siloed on Netflix these heroes are surrounded by bizarre powers. Magic and science fiction didn't pop up in Born Again given Danny canonically fought a dragon over on the other streaming service and Jessica had her mind ravaged by a guy whose powers are never explained. The weird is real, even if Matt and Wilson are very nearly baseline mortal.
What line?
Side note about ridiculous lines, rewatched Brave New World last night and almost left the theatre before the "third act" because I was so bored, but when Sam asks "how many alien invasions did Cap stop?" "Two." Uhh, so did Sam! He was right there BOTH TIMES! He didn't go off-world Thanos-hunting, but he was on the left at both incursions. That line took me right out.
EDIT: Oh, I guess Cap actually fought THREE - the Chitauri in Avengers, Thanos in Infinity War and then Thanos again in Endgame. Brave New World really got so much wrong.
I liked the other characters more than Danny
Yes. While Danny was too milquetoast for me in season one especially, his supporting cast did a ton of heavy lifting. Colleen and Ward especially were what kept me watching that show, and Colleen was still a better character in Defenders than Danny as well. I'm glad her final moments in season 2 went how they went.
but yeah, there were some issues with the Netflix shows, some clunk in the writing, but their casts were always a strength.
@ru1977 I went from hating Ward to, by the end of Season 2, being like: I really just want to see how this poor beleaguered dude turns out in the end. I'm pulling for him. Jessica Jones' supporting cast was fantastic too. But really DD's cast set the bar so high. The chemistry was top shelf.

You're right, Daredevil really is still untouchable.
Ward, I dunno... I did hate him initially, but probably because the writers wanted me too. What got me to like him was when he hung up the phone then passionately flipped off any cameras watching him. After that, I was on his side more and more. (Side note, I feel the actor also played the best character on Ozark, which costars the original kid Matt from Netflix Daredevil. I also would still love a movie with the guy who played Ward and Justin Long playing brothers.)
So, I do wonder if the Netflix shows gave so much more depth to the supporting characters partly because they had 13 episodes to fill - so you have the room to stretch out a little and fill in those spaces with real characterization that might get skipped when trying to cram a story into 10, 8 or 6 episodes worth of show. I mean, I remember at the time plenty of complaints about too much drag in the stories of the Netflix shows to stretch the seasons to 13 episodes... but I do think the flip side of the coin was the added scope for the supporting cast.
And I agree that the supporting cast on Daredevil was the best of the bunch. They did a really good job with Foggy and Karen especially, but also with Ben Urich, and Vanessa Fisk amongh others.
Jessica Jones was pretty solid as well with Carrie Ann Moss being especially good as Hogarth.
It's true though with Iron Fist the supporting cast was better than the main character which is a problem for a show. But Iron Fist season 2 ended strong and I admit I would have been curious to see where they might have taken it if they had done a season 3.
If the MCU picks up Iron Fist though I think I'd rather have them go with Orson Randall to just avoid the whole Danny Rand thing for a minute. Might be weird to have the original Netflix Daredevil, Punisher and Jessica Jones cast, but an entirely different Danny Rand interacting with them.
I shouldn't go putting the cart too far before the horse, but I'm excited to see where they go now that we know for sure Daredevil has another season, Punisher is getting his own MCU project, Jessica Jones is back in the fold, at least as a guest star...
