Interested in the Magneto. The red hands and the animated head sculpt do bother but fixable.Â
I pre-ordered Logan because of the claws and the amazing heads they did. I may get most of the others on sale if I find them. Bishop I may buy if I see him in store as well, but he's not excessively necessary since I have the old one with the long ass hair and I don't mind the body he's on as some others do. Storm would be next for the new parts. The others are more sidegrades, or in Magnetos case, maybe a downgrade. Wolverines legs bother me a little too though. The blue on the trunks goes down farther on this one then any of the others and it looks odd in those pics. But I know it's more accurate for the cartoon, so it's not a huge deal. Just odd.
Also, there is no Blob thread anymore, so I'll put my thoughts here, considering he looks a bit like he could fit in with the animated designs. He's pretty hefty. Really nice. Looks a little cartoony, but not too much so. And the extra hands and head are nice. The faces are well done. His elbows bug me though. They're too deep and look awkward when bent. You can see way too much of the discs. And I can't get his boots to twist, even though they look like they should. So I guess he doesn't actually have boot swivels. I got him from the Gamestop website with my points I had to use so I got a bunch off of him. Got him for $40 I stead of $60. Worth it I think. Not for $60, but $40 definitely. Now I just need the new Avalanche and Toad. But I don't like Toad much so I skipped him. Maybe he'll get a re-release or a better version.
As I missed the previous releases of Gambit and Bishop, I am looking forward to finally adding them to my display and replacing the old ToyBiz Versions.
Yeah, I would have preferred a different hairstyle for Bishop, but that was out of the hand for Hasbro.
The only thing I am not quite sure on yet is whether to add them to the VHS display or regular comic display? Or maybe I should just start a separate '97 display. 🤔Â
The one that surprises me the most is Wolverine considering they could have reused way more from their previous mold than they did. Props to not skimping. I'm not sure how I feel about the upper legs having a but of the trunks sculped on Wolverine and Magneto but I think thats just because I'm so used to them not doing that.
I’m most excited about Magneto. I’m hoping he’s somewhat bigger in terms of his build than the family three pack version. Then I can use the Onslaught shadowed head on him. Might replace the hands with purple translucent hands.Â

Oohhh, that's a good call.

Something I'm really hoping for, but am sure will be disappointed by, is for them to redo the shoulder pads on Wolverine so they aren't pinned into the bicep, but attached using the same set up as War Machine, Silver Centurion, Baron Zemo, and others, where the pads are attached around the bicep peg into the shoulder, and they rotate independently of the shoulder.

I'm honestly not sure if I'd like that better or not. I'd have to actually see it, but I doubt they will anyway. They already have arms they like, and already made his new pinless ones. Maybe in 5 years when they redo every suit he had again with another new sculpt. Honestly though, I'm not sure how they could improve on the sculpts they have now for him, besides maybe better ankles for crouching and maybe what you suggested with the shoulders.
Â
On that note, we are occasionally getting upgrades on the ankles and the addition of toe cuts. I'm an advocate for the addition of ball joint ankles and toe cuts to increase crouch ability to characters like Wolverine, Psylocke, Spiderman, Daredevil, etc. Not every character needs those articulation points but I appreciate when they are added to traditionally agile ones.
Improved torso articulation is the upgrade I'd like to see on any and all ML bodies going forward. I'd rebuy the dozen Wolverines I have on a body with that plus the improvements already mentioned.
Cap is the character really crying out for a mid-torso joint. They could throw a ball joint under the scale mail and a traditional lower ab-crunch toward the bottom of his torso stripes. Basically what we have on the RYV body. That should be the standard moving forward. And butterfly joints.
Other than the butterfly joints, Ultimate Cap has basically perfect articulation setup for Cap, including the ball joint under the chain mail for his upper body. They just need to retool/repurpose that body for a 616 Cap. They can even keep a lot of the tactical detailing if they want to start with a modern Brubaker-style Cap.
My wife intercepted my Amazon package of the X-Men '97 Sentinel Titan Series and made a video for me! I got busted because there was more than one in the box...
That is one of the best YouTube videos about toys I have ever seen!

If by "best" you meant "most horrifying" then I agree. It brought back years of PTSD of my significant other complaining about the cost and space requirements of action figures. 😥

I mean... she was smiling and goofing about it, so I don't think it was as big a problem for her as it can be for some. I thought she was funny.
