I think that's definitely a factor in switching the format - less transparency!

Or, the exact same amount of transparency we have with literally every other product that gets made by every other company.

I do like knowing the overall count, but I'm absolutely ok with this model. They showed a thing - I want the thing - I bought the thing. No guessing if it will get made, no one invested in seeing it succeed or fail, just a product to buy. Hoping Dragon Man and the Sentinel have sold well enough to get more on the way.

I loved how the preorder for the Sentinel was handled.  I ordered a couple.

Fully robotic Bastion is my biggest want now.

I feel like I might regret only ordering one sentinel, but I just cannot figure out where I'd put two AND the haslab one that I already got.

I think they said the Senitnel was made to order. So... that would mean, however many got ordered, that's how many they make. Not 100% on that, but i think that's what Hasbro Pulse said when I was looking at the page when they were released.

@trunks3540 Given they won't take the money until shipping there's possible to be some cancellations and a short (very short) in stock sale. But yeah. They'll probably make a few extra for safety and replacements, but doubt it'll be more than that.

Hmm. I have an iPhone, there was a new update yesterday, and now I can’t see any pictures on the forum. Any advice?

I'm glad I got a Sentinel order in, I wonder if I regret not grabbing 2.  I think Bastion in his evolved mode is cooler though so hope he's on the docket.  And on the topic of cool looking stuff - I love that Sunspot bust!  I don't buy busts but collectibles, especially X-Men, are more fun when freaky.  I'm sure the white clothes version is coming, but would like something like this.  Toy Biz would have pulled the trigger on funky orb Roberto.

I ended up ordering two Sentinels, on separate orders so easily cancelled. Two to flank the bigger Sentinel seems right, or for different displays. I'm excited to give the original Sentinel the blast effect - I thought that was definitely missing from the HasLab.

I only ordered one, and I’m kinda sad I didn’t go for more. Then I think about how much money they are and how little space I have for even the one I ordered. This one will be the classic Sentinel to take on my classic X-Men.

I wasn't at all clear on this during the original reveal stream.  It sounded to me like they left wiggle room to make a bit more than the pre-order totals to sell them as in-stock items on Pulse once they finish production.  I have a vague memory of Ryan Ting explicitly saying that they would be selling some undetermined amount of them once production was done, but it's so hazy I could easily be remembering that wrong.  I don't recall anyone asking the Marvel guys about this during interviews around the time of the Dragon Man or Sentinel reveals, and I try to watch all of those interviews and think I've seen them all since the Dragon Man reveal.

This was a mostly-open issue during the original Haslab project as well which was Jabba the Hutt's Barge ship in 1:18 scale.  People wondered if Hasbro would make extras to openly sell.  They didn't address it in the Haslab listing, and as far as I can tell the Dragon Man and Sentinel listings don't mention it either.  I know at some point before it shipped the Jabba's Barge team did verbally say they wouldn't sell the item openly, and that did end up being the case after release.

The Jabba's Palace set that was, I think, the trial run of this model of just putting a higher ticket item up for pre-order, was "sold out" after the pre-order window closed but once it was produced, they had a decent number in stock and actually it is part of their 35% off sale today. Did they produce a lot of extras beyond the pre-orders, did they get a lot of cancelations and ended up with extra stock unexpectedly, did everyone who wanted it pre-order so not a lot of additional sales? Who knows...

I'm going to guess the possibility of additional sales is part of what they like about this model - if they got 10K in Sentinel pre-orders, they can choose to make another 2K and put them up for sale, and if that sells out, they can fire up the factory again. Basically they are trading away the money up front but a locked production run with money on delivery and the potential for more sales in the future, but with the risk of cancelations.

What I had heard is that they made more than the final backer count for overseas buyers, but that they were never available for open sale on the American Pulse web site.  I have no idea how many more they made, when it was open for sale, which countries they were selling it in besides America, or any other specific detail.  I do know I looked for the barge being available for sale on Pulse--or whatever Hasbro's web site was called at the time, can't remember if Pulse started before or after when the barge finally released--but I never saw it for open sale.

I would assume they're intentionally vague on how many are being produced because they probably didn't know until the preorder window closed. The more they produce the cheaper they get per unit so there's always some incentive to order more. And if these things sold really well then naturally they would likely expect to be able to sell more at a later date. There's usually a market for things once they're delivered (provided the product turns out well) due to those who missed the window or who feel it turned out better than expected.

@enigmaticclarity Sorry for the confusion, I wasn't referring to the first HasLab Sail Barge, but the "Boba Fett Throne Room" (STAR WARS The Vintage Collection Boba Fett’s Throne Room - Hasbro Pulse) - which I think of as Jabba's Palace - that was the first of these open pre-orders for higher ticket items and I think they expected to have some for sale.

I agree, the Sail Barge never went up for sale on Pulse but did hear that some were offered overseas but I think at the time they couldn't handle overseas buyers.
